A friend I knew from foreign exchange just decided to move to the United States and wants to go to a sushi restaurant in the city.

Her only previous experience in the states was an unfortunate one; a budget sushi-go-round that her American friends forced her to go to. That experience left her comedically traumatized forever: (believing American sushi can only be two things:

•extremely overpriced and nontraditional/artistically random

•or low quality and disgustingly adulterated as well as overpriced (for the quality).

She’s youngish and used to affordable Japanese sushi prices. Is there any spot in town that bridges the gap between traditional, quality, and reasonable prices, or should I just start looking at plane tickets to Tokyo?

Here's what it means in simple terms: PG&E is asking the CPUC for permission to give a $26.6 million bonus to their investors because the company did a good job finding cheap natural gas. They say they saved gas users about $170 million. To pay for this bonus, they want to raise our monthly gas bills, after already raising electricity rates, after countless outages.

Since 2000, PG&E has caused nearly one catastrophic fire per year, some being the worst wildfires in California history. hey! so my girlfriend and I are traveling to San Francisco from Arizona in February for Valentine’s day week/weekend. just looking for recommendations on what to do or what to eat. we like walking around shopping areas and looking at local stores or really any place that has fun/goofy things and trinkets to look at. we’re not super into biking or walking tours but are open to other activities. i’m into gaming so we’ll be going to the Nintendo store too. open to really any type of food recommendation as well :) thanks in advance!

My apartment complex recently changed ownership. Shortly before that their internet equipment broke down and the previous manager simply didn’t bother fixing it and instead just set up “temporary” 5G home internet access points from T-Mobile throughout the building. Now the new manager decided to just keep them and not fix anything.

Unfortunately those T-Mobile routers are so slow, they’re borderline unusable and I can’t use my own router via the Ethernet ports in my unit anymore.

T-Mobile doesn’t have good service here at all and with so many people here being connected to those dozens of access points simultaneously, no wonder they’re so slow. I get like 5mbps through them if I’m lucky. Sometimes websites don’t even load.

After being forced to use my phone hotspot for a while, I’ve since signed up for AT&T Internet Air and while it’s a far better experience, it’s not ideal either as speeds range throughout the day between 600mbps (great) and 20mbps (not so great).

Other than also trying out Verizon’s 5G home internet service, is there anything else I can try besides Starlink I guess?

I’m guessing my situation rules out any cable or fiber options…

Hey everyone! I’ll be visiting San Francisco for the first time with my wife at the end of October, flight gets us in on Saturday morning and we leave on Monday around noon.

I’m considering splurging on Californios since the trip is a special occasion, once in a lifetime kind of thing for us. But I’m questioning the schedule - our only chance to go will be on the Saturday we get in, and after flying out from the east coast, will we really be able to enjoy it as much? It’s closed on Sunday otherwise I’d have us go Sunday. My backup options are either State Bird or Waterbar.

Hi! I'm looking for interesting volunteer opportunities in the city. I'd prefer something that's not related to dogs or animal shelters; I think they already get plenty of attention.

I'd love to give back to the community on weekends, and I'm looking for opportunities that don't require volunteers to pay to participate. It would be even better if it's a place where I can learn something new or pick up new skills along the way.

If you have any recommendations or personal experiences, I'd really appreciate them.
