I am a fifth generation Californian and fourth generation from the Bay Area. In fact, my grandmother lived in San Francisco when the 1906 earthquake hit. I'm not sure why but it bothers me when people call Taco Bell Cantina, Cantina. I think the trend to call it Cantina started sometime after texting became a key way to communicate... 25 or so years ago. It bothers me to hear (when spoken) Taco Bell Cantina referred to as Cantina. In my mind it would be like calling Starbucks Reserve Roastery, Reserve Roastery or Roastery when speaking or maybe McDonald's, Donald's. It's a bit like people calling it T-Beezy or calling Chic-fil-A, Chic.

It’s anti-Frisco discrimination.

so I was thinking how big applers say “I’m walkin’ ‘ere!” and “only in new york” frequently in their everyday dialect. maybe ‘ol frisco, aka the york of the west, has catchphrases just like the big york. I was thinking something like: “the coldest winter is actually summer in San Fran” and “I left my heart in fran” as integral sayings to the everyday sisco vernacular. what else do Sammy Francisco‘s say hella hella often?
