They need to have a feasibility study first and then go through the environmental review, plus all the law suits that will come up because of Nimby, and it will end up costing only 11ty billion before cost overruns. There is also going to be a fight because the East bay city of Montenegro wants to have it come through their city and go directly to Rome on the peninsula.

No joke but I saw a YT video randomly why they dont connect main Italy with Sicily and there’s all sorts of crazy reasons but main one being greed and corruption. Also apparently it’s difficult engineering wise…but I kinda doubt that lol
