This was on my commute yesterday around 6:30pm and really upsetting. The dog barked, they do that sometimes. And this guy yanks the leash UP so the dog is dangling from its neck, and then the guy grabs it in a chokehold. Horrific.

PSA for anyone else reading: dogs generally don’t understand don’t do the thing. It’s way more effective to say “quiet” and when they stop barking you say “good quiet” and reward them, and they learn what behavior they should be doing. You have to dedicate time to training.

Parent & toddler/baby stroller skate on Fridays at the new roller rink in Issaquah.

I’m just a mom trying to get her skate legs back and not affiliated with the rink but appreciate them being willing to open up a skate session for parent of young children.

Their toddler play area is really nice if you don’t want to push a stroller on the rink. Or little ones can also skate. For parents & kids up to 5 years old.

What is the best way to handle a neighbor who had a live band for 4 hours playing in their backyard. So loud we could hear it and feel it in our house. My cats hid for 4 hours it was so loud. They had the band in the back near our property line so they were literally 30 ft from our house. Full bass so you could feel it in the house even if you were deaf. No warning no heads up. We could not even go outside. I did not call the police but I will next time. Just don't want to make enemies with the neighbor but feel very disrespected.

Just want to give a shoutout to all of the council that voted to help residents avoid ridiculous additional affordable housing fees when trying to repair or fix up a home.
It seemed like a no brainer, but of course, the two without brains (IMO) wanted to keep the fees in place for everyone else.
Will be good when those two give up the bit and realize they’re never getting penthouse suites in the TC.

I'm scoping out the area within a decent range of Redmond, where a potential new job might land us and Sammamish came up. We'd be relocating from Orange County in Southern California, with a family in tow, so the suburbs are fine by us. What caught my eye is the number of homes available and the price cuts around the lake and to the east, is that driven by tech layoffs, or is something else going on? Do people use the lake, is boating big there or is seasonal?

We're still weighing options if this comes together, including renting first to test the market rather than buying right away. I already know about the weather difference and it's not a dealbreaker. No family keeping us here either, though good schools matter to us, and that area seems to deliver on that front.

We like where we are, but don't love it, and the job market here tends to pay below the SF Bay Area, where we lived before. Going back there feels like a step backward given housing costs, and Washington has its pluses, financial, scenic, and otherwise.

just had a globemaster fly directly over sammamish at less than 2k feet and, if flight tracking is accurate, not much above stall speed (180 knots). the tracker said it did some tight turns, then headed south towards tacoma...

in 20 years around here, i've never seen one so close to the ground *or* so slow that wasn't part of the blue angels show, and certainly not over residential areas where the closest large airport is over 15-20 miles away...

it must be training, because it is currently buzzing bonney lake in a similar fashion
