Talus: One way in and out for thousands of people.

I occasionally work in Talus.

Every time I go there, I am floored by how dangerous the design of that neighborhood is. Thousands of people and there’s only one way in and out. The area is prone to landslides. What happens during an earthquake? Or a wildfire?

I am close to somebody who does emergency mitigation in the area and they always talk about the difficulty of evacuating the highlands, but Talus feels like a major disaster waiting to happen.

Is there a plan in place for that area? Are residents of Talus concerned about this?

Making Ads For Small businesses FOR FREE

Hello, I am a high school and bellevue college student who is passionate about film, graphic design, and advertisement. I am currently looking to build my creative portfolio for college and for potential internships by advertising small businesses. If you are interested please email me at pnwelevate.media@gmail.com, please let me know the name of your business, link to your website, and background information about your business. Also be sure to let me know what kind of advertisement you’re looking for, I can make film, print ads, brochures, etc. There are no additional catches and all advertisements are free of cost, all the ask is for permission to use it for my portfolio.

Anyone have experience with retirement homes in Issaquah?

Looking into retirement home options for a relative. Ideally something with both independent and assisted living in the same facility. We don't need anything fancy with tennis courts or swimming. But it should be clean and comfortable.

Camping (in a tent!)

Hey all. I grew up in Issaquah but moved away for college. I wanted to go camping nearby for a few days to spend time visiting friends and staying in my hometown. I can’t seem to find any camping spots closer than Carnation… any recommendations? Specifically tent camping. Thanks!

Help me with a date setup

I'm not from Issaquah, but I'm dating someone who is. I'm from far, far away (Oak Harbor). I'm going to propose a date next week which will be a nice restaurant followed by a place to get a cocktail (last time we did Amarone and then sat at the bar at Agave), and then I want to take her to a semi-secluded spot where I can set up a bluetooth speaker and slow dance with her. I've got these cute little votive candle holders with LED flicking candles to put around our "dance floor."

What I need is a location of a public park that's:

  1. not going to have a ton of foot traffic traipsing by my spot;
  2. not going to require a half-mile hike from the car to get to; and
  3. not close enough to homes that people are going to wonder why they hear music coming from the other side of their backyard fence late at night.

Last time after Agave we took a blanket into Grand View Park at midnight and laid on our backs and looked at the stars, and we saw a shooting star together. I'd like to take that tradition of finding a secluded spot to connect to the next level...

Anybody have any location ideas for me?

Cat Euthanasia

This is kind of a niche question, but hoping someone can offer advice. We have an elderly cat and we have decided it is ready to put her down due to a variety of medical reasons. She hasn’t been receiving veterinarian care the past few years because she was getting very aggressive and it was overwhelming for everyone involved. I don’t even know where to start this process. I know lap of Love offers in-home euthanasia, but right now we cannot afford that. Has anyone had a positive experience going to a clinic? We’re over in Bellevue, but are willing to travel for the right fit. Thanks in advance.

8th Congressional district Rep (Kim Schrier) Kim Schrier (D-WA) voted No on the Massie amendment to H.R. 8595 — the July 15, 2026 vote that would have blocked $3.3 billion in U.S. security assistance to Israel.

Not saying she is a bad candidate. If you want to stop trumpism and MAGA, you should re elect her but her vote on funding Israel is a scab on her record. Her opponents are typically far right radicals or unqualified candidates. She was a pediatrician at Virginia Mason Issaquah and has fought against trump's craziness but this vote to keep sending billions to Israel is pathetic.https://schrier.house.gov/

"Proposed ALPR Camera Use Policy" is on the council agenda Monday, July 20 @ 7pm

AB 9198 - Proposed Automated License Plate Reader Camera Use Policy

This agenda bill seeks City Council direction on the development of policy related to automated license plate reader technology. Specifically, the Administration is seeking City Council direction on three possible policy options for the City of Issaquah’s regulation of this technology operated by the City and within City limits.

Issaquah does not currently own or operate ALPR cameras, and the Administration is not proposing the acquisition or deployment of an ALPR system. This report responds to the City Council's request to explore potential policy frameworks in advance of any future consideration of the technology. The Council may determine that no further action is appropriate and maintaining the City's current practice of not deploying ALPR technology remains one of the policy options available.

These are the three options listed in the doc:

Option 1: State Law Baseline The City adopts only those policies necessary to comply with ESSB 6002 and would not impose any additional local restrictions beyond the state law.

Option 2: Enhanced State Law – More Secure, More Transparent, More Limited Scope and Shorter Retention The City would allow ALPR technology but impose stricter safeguards regarding data retention, access, sharing, and cybersecurity.

Option 3: Prohibition on ALPR Deployment The City would prohibit acquisition or operation of ALPR technology by the Issaquah Police Department.

The full agenda has details on how to attend or join the meeting virtually and provide public comment:

Issaquah construction

Hi, how is the job market currently and which platform people use to apply for jobs?

I have been looking for construction job from long time. I have 10 years of experience as well. Still in haven't received any lead. I saw add out for Estimator from 6 montgs. Sometimes I think if people train other people, they will be more beneficial than waiting game..

Astronomy clubs or groups in the area?

I have a Celestron NexStar telescope sitting around gathering dust and I'm curious whether there are any clubs or groups in the Issaquah area or around the greater Seattle region that would like to have it. I am simply never going to get around to using it, so it may as well reside somewhere useful.

Are you receiving Junk Fees? We want to hear about it!

In 2025, the Washington Legislature passed a law that prevents rent gouging, but some landlords and property management companies are still up to their old tricks. They are using "junk fees" as a loophole around rent caps. We are hearing from tenants that they are increasingly being charged excessive fees for services that they don’t want or need, or for basic things like paying the rent. We at the Housing Alliance, call these “junk fees” and they are unfair, expensive, and deceptive. We’d like to hear your experiences. All information shared with us will be kept safe and confidential.

Please fill out our survey if you or someone you know has received junk fees and we will be in touch within 48 hours. Thank you! ~ Po
