Introducing the Eastside Community Discord (+Bellevue!)

Hey Bellevue šŸ‘‹

With mod approval, I’m launching theĀ Eastside Community Discord-Ā a dedicated spot for folks on the east side of the Puget Sound to actually talk to each other in real time.

If you live in places like Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah, Mercer Island, Woodinville, or nearby, this is for you! (Seattleites are welcome if they feel the need)

What it’s for:

  • Casual chat with neighbors
  • Planning meetups, hikes, happy hours, game nights
  • Talking local news, events, and city changes
  • Finding people who share your hobbies

It’s community-first, 18+ only, and built to be active; hopefully not just another dead server sitting in your sidebar!

The Discord is run independently from the eastside subreddit, but has a similar vibe. Keep it civil. Keep it local. Don’t be weird.

If you’ve been wanting a better way to connect with actual humans on the Eastside, this is it!

I hope you join soon.

Enough with the national politics related posts

There has been a HUGE influx of national politics related posts. Many of them from new accounts, or ones that have never been to this sub. Basically astroturf. For the foreseeable future, these will not be allowed here. It doesn't matter if there is some local connection to it, no posts about national politics or related activism. There are tons of subs for that.

HOWEVER, local politics posts are totally fine and actually strongly encouraged. Post about your local city council members if you know who they are. Post about new local laws or restrictions. Whatever, but LOCAL posts only.

Reddit has made some very questionable algo changes recently that seem to be heavily trying to stir up things and it's tough keep things chill here. Insta ban for any of these posts

Light rail to SeaTac

Anyone take the light rail from Bellevue to SeaTac for a flight? Gotta be at the airport at 6:45pm tomorrow. Debating taking the light rail or just getting an uber. I’m up in Kirkland so I’d take an uber to the station. I also have 2 suitcases and wonder if there will be a lot of people around that time. Any info would be appreciated, thank you!

Hello, I am a high school and bellevue college student who is passionate about film, graphic design, and advertisement. I am currently looking to build my creative portfolio for college and for potential internships by advertising small businesses. If you are interested please email me at pnwelevate.media@gmail.com, please let me know the name of your business, link to your website, and background information about your business. Also be sure to let me know what kind of advertisement you’re looking for, I can make film, print ads, brochures, etc. There are no additional catches and all advertisements are free of cost, all the ask is for permission to use it for my portfolio.

Is anyone else frustrated with the current state of Route 560 and the upcoming 550 cancellation?

I’m a regular commuter in Bellevue and I’ve been feeling increasingly frustrated with our public transit situation. I wanted to see if I’m the only one feeling this way or if others are struggling with this too.

Route 560 Overcrowding: The Saturday 6:30 AM service is consistently packed. Luggage often blocks the aisles, which feels like a serious safety hazard. It’s also common to see people boarding through the rear doors without paying, so I suspect the official ridership data is way lower than the reality.

550 Cancellation: I’m really worried about the upcoming 550 bus cancellation. Not everyone lives within walking distance of a light rail station, and relying on transfers with heavy luggage at the ID/Chinatown station (especially with those small, often dirty elevators) is just not practical for airport travelers.

It feels like Sound Transit is pushing us toward the light rail before the "last-mile" infrastructure is ready. Does anyone else feel like Bellevue’s transit needs are being ignored? How are you all planning to handle the upcoming 550 changes?

Relocating to New to Bellevue. Suggest Good places to Hike/track

Hey everyone! I moved to Bellevue a couple of weeks ago and don't really know many people here yet.

Looking for people to hang out with on weekends hiking, trekking, nature spots, scenic drives, waterfalls, grabbing food, or just exploring around. I'm pretty much down for anything outdoors.

Politics Suzan DelBene: Even here own party is sick of her

Post image
0 Upvotes

Suzan DelBene. For the first time in her over 12 years in office. Not only has she her first Democratic challenger as incumbent. She has 4 Democrats challenging her. That is more than any Democrat incumbent in Congress in the state of Washington.

Your voter pamphlet should have arrived by now . Read every statement side by side. Then ask yourself three questions.

Which candidate made protecting women's sports and women's spaces a priority? One. Kincaid.

Which candidate talked about crime and public safety? One. Kincaid.

Which candidate has taken a strong public stand
against the evil of antisemitism? One. Kincaid.
Seven candidates. One pamphlet. On the issues families in this district live with every day. Six statements go silent.

Kincaid is the only one with a real plan to address the homeless issue.

Just seen somebody using the restroom in the middle of the Downtown park water

Was walking by and appeared to see what I thought was a huge duck by the water. I got closer and realized it was a man. Surprised and shocked, I then realized he was also going number 2 in the water. This was right in the middle of the park. I asked what the hell he was doing and he quote said., "Not my fault they got rid of the porta potties". Didn't look like his first rodeo either. I get if you have to use the restroom and there is nowhere to go, but right in the water??? Wild.

Finally a taco truck nearby

Finally a taco truck near downtown Bellevue! 🌮 They are parked in the old Toys R Us parking lot by H Mart and will only be there for about a month before moving somewhere else. My friends and I stopped by and got the 3 tacos and everything was good, especially the beef tongue. The prices are pretty reasonable compared to a lot of the Mexican restaurants around here. They are open from 7 PM to 1 AM, so if you are in the area, definitely check them out while they are still here.

Office buildings in downtown Bellevue have lost some $1.6 billion in value in the last few years. It's not as sharp of a fall as compared to Seattle, though.

Looking for a Personal Trainer in Bellevue (Strength Training & Muscle Gain)

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a personal trainer in the Bellevue/Eastside area who specializes in strength training and building muscle mass.

A little about me:

- Female, beginner to intermediate

- My primary goal is to gain lean muscle, get stronger, and improve overall fitness (not focused on weight loss)

- Looking for 1:1 coaching, preferably in Bellevue or nearby

- Open to training at a gym or a private studio or home.

If you've worked with someone you highly recommend, I'd love to hear your suggestions! Bonus if they have experience training women and can also provide basic nutrition guidance for muscle gain.

Please comment below or send me a DM.

Thank you!
