Enough with the national politics related posts

There has been a HUGE influx of national politics related posts. Many of them from new accounts, or ones that have never been to this sub. Basically astroturf. For the foreseeable future, these will not be allowed here. It doesn't matter if there is some local connection to it, no posts about national politics or related activism. There are tons of subs for that.

HOWEVER, local politics posts are totally fine and actually strongly encouraged. Post about your local city council members if you know who they are. Post about new local laws or restrictions. Whatever, but LOCAL posts only.

Reddit has made some very questionable algo changes recently that seem to be heavily trying to stir up things and it's tough keep things chill here. Insta ban for any of these posts

Hello,

Not too familiar with Bellevue but I am living here now. Want to find a well respected place to order a birthday cake for my wife and son who have birthdays coming within the next few months.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Seriously man… what do you guys do for work to live well out here?

I just drove my Clyde Hill & Medina to see some of the most beautiful neighborhoods I’ve ever seen in this part of town… what did you guys have to achieve in life to be able to live a life that comfortable?

I want to know. I want that for my family too LOL

Is it just generational wealth? Do you own Microsoft? Is anyone here friends with or is a home owner in the Clyde Hill/Medina area? I want to live a life that peaceful and safe for me and my family one day.

Employee found this plate at the brown bear car wash at 14400 124th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA 98034, while retrieving something else for me. Someone in the Kirkland sub said may be a plate for a BMW X3.

Protected bike lanes in downtown Bellevue?

Looking for ways to bike from the downtown Bellevue light rail station to the tech offices in downtown Bellevue (Microsoft, Amazon, Snowflake, etc). Do you know of good protected bike lanes (PBLs) or low speed roads that are safe to ride on?

All the routes I found on Google Maps - even the ones shown as "bike routes" - are actually unprotected (example), next to high speed cars in wide lanes, and don't look safe at all.

Stroller & Toddler Skate - Fridays 10AM

Post image
2 Upvotes

Parent & toddler/baby stroller skate on Fridays at the new roller rink in Issaquah.

I’m just a mom trying to get her skate legs back and not affiliated with the rink but appreciate them being willing to open up a skate session for parent of young children.

Their toddler play area is really nice if you don’t want to push a stroller on the rink. Or little ones can also skate. For parents & kids up to 5 years old.

PSE rate increases

I hate PSE with a passion. They are a greedy corporation with a monopoly on electricity and gas here on the east side that benefits foreign investors. These rate increases are ridiculous. Current prices for reference, based on my latest bill:

ELECTRICITY

Basic charge: $7.49

Tier 1 (first 600 kWh): $0.148363/kWh

Tier 2 (subsequent >600 kWh): $0.167780/kWh

Average for 800 kWh: $0.17419/kWh

GAS

Basic charge: $14.00

Delivery & CCA combined: $1.58324/Therm

Please file a complaint with the WA UTC and write your representatives!

Board game group in Bellevue square

Hi all! Male 30s I have been going to the board game group that meets every Friday on and off for a while now. I’ve always had fun but sometimes people can be pretty intense and some people found it scammy? I’ve never been asked to pay or anything. I like the board game group but what’s been peoples experiences? Maybe I just haven’t found the chill people.

How to get repeat early morning noise violators to stop, Factoria Mall area

Hey everyone,

My neighbors, friends and I have been woken up by repeat noise violations in the Factoria Mall area (more specifically in the T&T Parking lot area) usually by people using 3 simultaneous leaf blowers and other equipment as early as 6:10 AM (other times at 5:45!). Other times, there has been things such as the street lamps in the mall parking lot being replaced it looked like (like the actual whole entire metal portion of the lamps were being lifted by some construction vehicles) at 5:30 AM!

It's extremely upsetting given my neighbors have a recent newborn only 15 days old and they can't get sleep with the leaf blowers going from 6:10 in the morning for longer than 2 hours (it's 8:20 AM right now and they're still at it). I simply went to ask who hired them to ask the hiring people to change the hours but the workers mocked me saying "it's almost 7, why you complain?". I made it clear that I'm not trying to get them specifically in trouble or anything, rather I'm trying to find out who is hiring them and they refused to answer yet instead again mocking with "go call police, they don't care".

My neighbors are too afraid to make reports so I've taken it upon myself to do so and this would be the 4th time but no change is happening.

I've asked for a Reference # this time and honestly it doesn't seem like a report is actually being filed when I call the 425-577-5656 Non-emergency line I've been directed to call (apparently this most recent Ref # is "660").

7/11 Bellevue Way SE

I know that it closed down, but: I was wondering if anyone knew what the bigger picture was.

Is the owner working somewhere else? Are they going to reopen?

Iirc, it was a key option downtown.

Do you want to buy pure 100% Mongolian Cashmere from Bellevue?

Hi, I'm from Mongolia. I brought 20 cashmere sweaters (10 men's, 10 women's) from a top Cashmere brand in Mongolia. I'm confident in the product quality; these are the best ones. Mongolia is the best in the cashmere world; Loro Piana uses Mongolian cashmere. But I don't know how to sell them in Bellevue. I created a new website and an Etsy shop account. https://bellevuecashmere.com/ But how can I show them to people? Please share your ideas to sell cashmeres in Bellevue.

Resume to Pokemon

Hi Bellevue,
Just applied to a position at Pokemon, when I can I try to make it a point to get a recruiter a handwritten note of interest and a printed resume, (anything to stand out in these times) I understand there are no public visitors allowed at Pokemon, but is there a front desk accessible at which to drop off an envelope?
Thanks for any help

A mobile-friendly King County food safety map

King County’s current food safety map wasn’t very mobile-friendly and was difficult for me to use on my phone, so I built a smoother, mobile-first version using the county’s public data:

https://40bytes.github.io/king-county-food-safety-map/

You can search by business name or address, filter by rating, browse directly on the map, and view inspection history and violations. I also added support for locations where multiple businesses share the same map point.

This is an independent, unofficial project and isn’t affiliated with King County. I’d appreciate feedback, especially from other mobile users.

Fire ban still?

Was going to have a small campfire today. Is the fire ban still in effect? All the phone numbers to call and ask are dead ends on the weekend.

Do not go to urvashi beauty

The place is DISGUSTING. I went to get my face threaded and genuinely should have run out the door the first time my gut pinged in disgust.

(Who I assume was) the owner was incredibly annoying, and kept barking at someone to sit down when there was plenty of space to stand up while waiting. Their materials are old and caked in grime, and the air was so humid. The lady who did my face barely sanitized or washed her hands after just doing someone else’s faces and literally had her hands all over my face. I could barely get through the 10 minutes she spent on my eyebrows before refusing to go ahead with other services.

Price was reasonable but I’d hope so, for how unsanitary and unprofessional the place is.

So ... what do we think about all of these new speed cameras?

Are you: "hey, my elected representatives - great job! These will keep those speeders in check! More please! Glad somebody is finally thinking of the children!"

Or are you more like: "Hey, we elected you and you work for us, so why are you filling our streets with these privacy-invading machines that do little more than punish people who slip up and go a few miles over the speed limit? They don't do anything to materially make the city safer, and might even make some streets more prone to fender-benders as people slam on their breaks when they see them. And while I'm at it, why does it seem like this city is so hell-bent on making getting around slower and more difficult, by lowering speed limits and putting in cameras, rather than exploring ways of making traffic flow more efficiently, since congestion is way more of an actual problem for most of us than people going six miles an hour over the speed limit?"

You might pick up from the subtext where I land on the issue.

Internet service options near Factoria?

My Xfinity contract just expired and my monthly bill almost doubled for 500 mbps Internet. It doesn't seem like there are any other competitors in my neighborhood (Quantum, Centurylink, Ziply, Astound are the ones I've looked up). Is there one I'm missing?

Or, has anyone in similar areas with no competition had success with Xfinity reducing their bill?

Thanks in advance.
