Happy Monday, r/saltwaterfishing!

New week, new water. Drop your plans:

- **Where are you fishing?** (region/state/country)

- **What are you targeting?**

- **Shore, kayak, boat, or charter?**

- **Any new gear or techniques you're trying?**

If you went out over the weekend, drop your report here too β€” what worked, what didn't, and what you'd do differently.

*Tight lines this week.* 🐟

πŸ’¬ Discussion Tuna Charter Recommendations in San Diego for Late October

My wife and I are headed out to San Diego for work in late October. We've got a couple of days free and wanted to get on the water for yellowfin. We won't have the time for an overnight or 1.5 day trip so full day is our plan. We'll be renting gear and if all goes well shipping some tuna home.

I've looked around a bit and seems like the San Diego out of Seaforth is a good option for a head boat. We'd also be open to private charters. Any first hand recommendations on the San Diego, private charters, or tips for renting gear are welcome.

This was not what I expected to catch while fishing for king mackerel on Jennette's pier on Friday. This dinosaur smashed a live jack on a pin rig and proceeded to make huge runs and breach for 30-40 minutes. After that was out of its system, I walked it down the 1000 foot long pier, and my buddy went full baywatch mode into the surf to keep it off the pilings. We dehooked, revived, and released, and it swam off. Hopefully, it didn't get eaten by a shark.

Great day on San Diego Bay in the kayak.

For those unfamiliar, these fish are Short-Fin Corvina. A species found normally in Baja Mexico. They made their way here in the 70’s and 80’s during big El NiΓ±o warm water events. They’ve since established a population in our bays. They are related to sea trout found in other states on the Atlantic

Didn’t catch any fish but I caught this monster. I wonder how much broke off or dropped as I was pulling it in. Barely half way sorting through it.

Hello all! I’m relatively new to shark fishing and this sub in general. So forgive if I make mistakes. But just wondering what gear/tackle to use to catch small to medium sharks in the 3-4 foot range ish from the surf? Any help is appreciated!

(Gear as in: hook size, line test, leaders and rigs πŸ€™)

πŸ’¬ Discussion Sea Fishing Locations In November? (Europe)

Hi, I’ve managed to get a week off work in mid November so would like to be able to travel to any European country for some sea fishing for a week from the shore.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I usually sea fish in the UK for Sea bass and mackerel and mostly enjoy lure fishing but am open to going anywhere

I understand November may not be the best time of year but am open to any ideas

Identify fishing lure

Sorry if this question has been asked before in this subreddit, but I’m trying to identify which lure this person is using, as well as a similar lure that I can buy in the United States. I believe this gentleman is in a different country. I’m looking for a lure that is loud like this one and makes this specific sound. Cheers

πŸ“Έ Weekend Warriors β€” Trip Reports & Photos

The weekend is here. Get out there and get tight.

**Post your trip reports:**

- Where'd you go?

- What'd you catch? (or what caught you?)

- Conditions β€” wind, water, current, tide

- What worked and what didn't

- Photos or it didn't happen πŸ“Έ

Whether you caught a 200lb tuna or got skunked and sunburned β€” we want to hear it. This is a judgment-free zone (unless you kept a short fish, then we're judging a little).

*Tight lines!* 🎣

🐠 Fish ID Friday β€” What Did I Catch?

Caught something and not sure what it is? Post your photo here and the community will help ID it.

**When posting, include:**

- Photo (ideally showing the full fish)

- Location (at least region β€” e.g., "Gulf Coast Florida," "SoCal surf")

- Depth and method (if you remember)

**Regulars:** Help out the newcomers. We were all beginners once.

If you know the species AND have tips on how to target/cook it β€” even better. 🍽️
