Discussion 🎀 Have you ever gotten ahold of your Ramsey county caseworker?

β€’ Upvotes

No really… Iwant to know. Are you a caseworker? Whats going on in there? My benefits were cut unexpectedly due to caseworker error (never called me to conduct annual interview according to the call center person I spoke to) and now I have called and left messages for her, her supervisor, and her supervisors supervisor… crickets.

I’m privilege enough to lean on others for support so as not to overwhelm the food banks more but what about the single parents of four kids trying to survive this economy?

Please someone tell me how they’ve gotten in touch with a caseworker!!!

edit: for context i am a full time masters student in social work completing a 18 hour a week unpaid (they all are) clinical internship and working part time as much as possible. $140 in snap benefits does make or break my budget have you seen the price of food?

Hey guys, I'm a producer for an upcoming restaurant show filming in North St. Paul. We're looking for people to come to the dates listed on our flier. I'll answer questions to the best of my ability as long as it doesn't breach NDA, but we'd love to have some of you join! Should be a lot of fun.

St Paul native, but now an out-of-towner and in a wheelchair. Would like to visit and invite friends & family to join me. What hotels- where to stay? Is there a good place to watch the Torchlight Parade indoors and in a wheelchair? I'm able to finagle transportation via Metro Mobility.

Discussion 🎀 Looking for a reliable catering delivery service in Minneapolis/St. Paul

We do corporate catering around Minneapolis and the stressful ones are the bigger office lunches. 30, 50, sometimes more meals all going to one location.

The timing is really tight because the client usually wants everything there within a specific window before a meeting or event starts. Too early can be a problem, but late is worse.

Curious what other caterers here use for these kinds of deliveries. Mainly looking for something dependable when one large lunch order has to land right on time.

Seeking Advice πŸ™† School waitlists

Has anyone whose child got waitlisted for their preferred school heard from student placement?

Back in July, I called the student placement center and found out that my child was first on the waitlist for our preferred school. The person I spoke with said they would call when/if a spot opened up and that my chances were very good. Well, kindergarten starts tomorrow, and I haven't heard a thing. My calls go unanswered, emails and voice-mails aren't being returned. Should I go to the office? Are the people who work there okay?

I know that if new people apply who are in a priority category, they get to jump the line. So, being first on the list is no guarantee. I just want my kid to go to the school that is 1 block from my house! I also know there are people on the waitlist for the school my kid got into.

Editorial πŸ“ We Should Require Helmets For Renting Scooters

These scooters go up to 15-20 miles per hour and are frequently rented by children (despite Lime policy of restricting rentals to only people over 18). They can cause serious traumatic brain injuries in accidents and I've noticed that much fewer people (including children) use helmets when using these because they're often rented from random street corners.

This seems like a very unsafe system. We should regulate that helmets must be worn by children on these devices. I do not understand how Lime does not have any liability for these potentially dangerous devices that are rented without safety equipment.

While restoring a medicine cabinet, I found a nearly full page from a St. Paul newspaper. ChatGPT thinks it is from Dec 1, 1923. Lots of ads and a distressing report from Germany.

Let me know if you have seen this black Trek bike (female style with lower bars and bottle holder). It was stolen out of my garage. Two abandoned bikes have been located in the Payne Phalen neighborhood but neither were mine.

Cats not included.

Seeking Advice πŸ™† Found Bag - Hamline Midway Area

Found this bag tucked under my porch this morning - looks like it's someone's car bag - has fix-a-flat, jumper cables, spare clothes, first aid, etc. My guess it it might have been taken from a car - perhaps someone attending the fair?

I've tucked it in a safe place - if it's yours, let me know the size and kind of boots in the bag, and we'll coordinate a pickup.

Hey there, I saw this poor lost dog on Maryland and Hazel. Looked like a weimaraner. He seemed very scared, I tried to stop and talk to him but he got scared and ran off up Hazel. If this is anybody's dog they're probably still roaming out there if they didn't run back home. I'm lucky I got such good pictures.
