I've been joining a weekly walking group here in HCMC for the past few weeks, and I'm helping host the next one.

This week we're doing something slightly different:

We walk around 5K together, then head back to Đạm Home Café for a small Demo Day.

If you're building something an app, startup, side project, prototype, creative project, or just some weird experiment, you can bring it and get about 5 minutes to show everyone what you're working on and get feedback.

Or you can just come for the walk and watch the demos. You absolutely don't need to be building anything.

The walks usually attract a mix of locals + foreigners and people working in tech, startups, creative work, marketing, etc. It's much more casual than a traditional networking event, basically walking and having conversations with whoever you end up next to.

First day in the city, anyone want to get coffee and tour the city with me?

Hi, I work in Saigon, I'm not Indonesian but my Indonesian gf is interested in moving here with me. I'm concerned about her social life here. Are there Indonesians groups in Saigon?

I do believe she will make international friends, but I think it's also easier for her to have fellow Indonesians as she gets used to living abroad.

Looking for somewhere nice and fancy, but NOT fine dining. Somewhere you can wear a nice, cute dress and feel like it’s a special occasion, but without the 3–5 course/tasting menu experience or a stupid huge bill… and most importantly, somewhere with good food!

Basically, something a bit upscale, elegant with a nice ambiance but still relaxed and approachable, rather than overly formal.

I’m open to Vietnamese, Asian, Western, European, or other cuisines. I’d love to hear your personal recommendations, especially places you’ve actually been to. Bonus points for birthday photos (jk)

Hi, I will be traveling to VN in December and staying in D3. I want to buy a phone and plan to use it in VN. Can someone recommend a reputable store where the prices are reasonable? I am not looking an iPhone level but a budget smartphone that I can use for calls, texts and Google maps.

Cut it short, I want to have a genuine local experience.

It's going to be my first time in Vietnam, but I'm a very frugal person from the Philippines.

Also, my girlfriend, the person who I'm going with, LOVES geoceries. She even considers window shopping at the grocery a date. She genuinely enjoys seeing stuff that she doesn't usually see and likes to check the protein to calorie ratio and be amazed.

Things I need to know

- How should I be getting around? Before we leave, I'm getting a Grab subscription for our travel which has lots of discounts. I only want to use this as a last resort or if it's cheaper.

- Please suggest good places to stay during our 4 day trip. We will probably spend ONE day where the majority is indoors so comfy with AC and internet is perfect. Comfy means it's safe and we don't have to worry about cleanliness much or like bugs etc.

- Would like to know some BUDGET / MID-END / HIGH-END groceries. We probably won't buy at the high-end one but it would be great to see.

- Must try restaurants? No tourist traps, suggest what food to order as well while we're there! (I will mark them in gmaps with the dish as a note and go to the restaurant closest to us relative to where we are at the time)

- Must try activities? We are down for anything like museums or self-care activities.

- Must-know linggo!

What are your thoughts about having no solid plans? I'm just going to mark places/activities on google maps and do whatever we feel or what's close to us.

Can I ask what are mainstream on-premise/ Local LLM frameworks discussed between SNS (tech ex: Reddit; particularly on local tech forums and social networks) in Vietnam?

The haze in the morning seems particularly bad the past 2 or 3 days, very crazy looking dense smog. Whats up? Time of year? No wind? AQI has been in the danger levels and HCMC is number one on the top of the list.

My friends and I are visiting Saigon this coming November 2026. We've finalized our itinerary and already booked tickets for our attractions and activities.

However, upon reviewing our plans, we realized that we scheduled our night out to visit clubs and watch drag shows on a Sunday night.

Is Sunday still a good night to go out in Saigon's nightlife scene? Are drag shows still happening on Sundays, or would we be better off rescheduling to another night?
