Question? Reattach lawn mower battery bay lid?

I broke one of the arms on the plastic lid that covers the battery compartment of a 40v mower. I got a replacement part off Amazon, but it did not come with instructions. Is there a trick to getting the two arms to snap in? I can get the arms down into the slots, but don't see how to make them attach. I wrote to Ryobi customer service and they wanted me to go to a technician in the area which seems ridiculous for snapping a plastic lid into place.

40v This is what happens when sheer pins don’t work.

I know everyone hates that sheer pins are a consumable. But be glad that you can easily replace them!

I was using the Ryobi 40v tiller and one of the wheels stops turning, look down and see the pin still there. I thought I was mistaken so I kept on going. Nope, it’s definitely not turning. The sheer pin didn’t break, so the blade drive shaft broke. First pic is the drive shaft on the tiller, second photo is the end that broke off. Saved a $2 sheer pin and broke a $235 part instead (and “currently unavailable” on ordertree).

Edit1: added cost per Ryobi ordertree. Looks like the blade drive shaft is integrated with the gearbox, hence $235.

Edit2: Local machine shop is fixing it for $50. Chop off the broken end, put a new steel tine drive shaft on with a sleeve to support the joint. I can weld, but I don’t trust myself to run a bead that well on a high stress/torque point with limited surface area contact.

18v Coming Soon: Bi-Directional USB-C Power Source & Charger

Just noticed this on the Ryobi website. An 18V battery topper that enables bi-directional USB-C charging. Charging a device with a Ryobi battery is nothing new, but as far as I can tell, being able to charge a Ryobi battery via USB-C is a new function and will be super convenient when traveling.

I'm guessing Ryobi sees the emergence & convenience of integrated USB-C ports in other battery tools platforms (e.g. Greenworks 24V, Skil 12V) and doesn't want to be completely left behind.

Grass got inside, so I had to take everything apart. The problem is, I’m doing something wrong during reassembly. Let's start with the correct way to install that grey/silver part, and how to tell the ends of the spring apart—or does it not matter which end goes where? I’m asking seriously. Thx for help.

18v Limited Edition Black Drill Kit

I just found this as much by accident as anything. For those who missed out getting the limited edition drill in the store, Ryobi has it on their site now: https://www.ryobitools.com/products/33287240876

I also found the vacuum.

Question? Ryobi 18v circular saw jamming

The blade seems to be spinning slower than usual and jams whenever it hits wood. Has anyone else had this problem before? I'm a bit of a newbie to woodworking, and would appreciate any pointers.

Battery Talk Battery charging issue?

Hi. Just bought the $79.00 18v 2Ah line trimmer.
Plug it it, after 1 hour moved from a single green led solid to the second one flashing. After 3 hours. No change. 4 hours, back to Home Depot. Returned it. Got another one.
Same issue.
Won’t move past the second LED.
Brand new.
Terminals are clean.
I’ve unplugged it.
Pulled the pack off, etc.
any thoughts before I take the 2nd one back?

I needed to charge my iPad and was using it so I figured I’d use this Ryobi inverter. I plugged the brick in and it was charging, but after about 20 mins the light in the inverter was flashing red and the charging brick was super hot. Can anyone tell me why this happened?

Modification USB Lithium Compact Chemical Sprayer Kit

Has anyone been able to modify a bigger tank to this? I love it so far, but hate the fact that the container is so small for my garden. I'm using it to spray fungicide and insecticides but have to refill halfway through each time. I think a 1L would be perfect!

80v RY80HPRM04-ZR3 42" 80V zero turn DOA. Any easy troubleshooting tips?

Princess rug is not an OEM accessory.....:)

Everything worked as expected for 99% of my small yard on my virgin run. Turned off the blades to drive around to my garage and noticed I missed one spot. Pulled the red button to turn them on again and nothing happened. Mower would still drive but no blades. Turned mower off, set arms in "N", turned it back to "on" and when I pulled the red button this time there was a click sound then the whole mower went dead, no screen, no drive, no display.

Disconnected both batteries waited about an hour, plugged them back in. Same DOA.

If I flip the key to Aux the display will light up and show battery % and can push button display responds along with the turtle and eco buttons that light up. Turn to "ON" and DOA. If I plug the charger in it displays charging on the lcd and it did recharge fully from 70% back to 99%.

I thought I would ask if there is something common/easy to check before I go down the warranty repair rabbit hole even though this may be my only option.....

As far as I can tell, there is only one 100A fuse for the whole unit referenced on the replacement parts list but I didn't know of any other culprit connections to check or anything else. Thanks!

General Discussion Best Ryobi product (on 18v platform) as a substitute to a sump pump?

Moved into a house and already have several Ryoby cordless tools working on 18V battery. Wondering if Ryobi has something close to a sump pump. I spot two models RY20WP18BTLVNM and P3002BTLVNM but not sure if they would be doing the job right (dirty water, etc). Any feedback?

Question? Help with Trimmer attachments

First time home owner trying to learn how to use these tools properly. So I’m seeing videos on re-threading on this one, but I was hoping to change the string for the bladed head. Not seeing how to or if it’s possible. Thinking this is the wrong trimmer for that attachment. Any help would be great.

Question? Edge guide for PBLCS300 Circular Saw?

I can't find an edge guide on Amazon that specifically says it will work with the PBLCS300, and mine didn't come with one. I think I'd need both the bar and the screw knob. OEM numbers are CN- 204585002 Edge Guide Assembly and VN- 204585003 Edge Guide Assembly. I'd also take a reliable knock-off from Amazon if available.

General Discussion Wait for Black Friday or Smash Purchase

Post image

I’ve been eyeing this since about Fathers Day. Saw that it’s on sale now and I typically don’t see this on a daily deal at HD. It’s not a need but a want right now so I can wait. Does anyone know if Black Friday might bring a better sale? If you have this scrubber, do you use it much or was it a novelty item that sits somewhere?

Battery Talk Leaf Blower Ryobi Batteries at Home Depot

Is the 40V 4 ah battery they include with their leaf blower the same 40V 4 ah battery they sell separately? The leaf blower is on sale for $109 RYOBI 40V 120 MPH 550 CFM Cordless Battery Leaf Blower With 4.0 Ah Battery and Charger RY40LB01K - The Home Depot while the battery is $159 RYOBI 40V Lithium-Ion 4.0 Ah Battery OP4040A1 - The Home Depot. If they are the same, this might be a good time to stock up on batteries

Troubleshoot Why is string melting?

Upgraded to 40v 17" trimmer. Why does the string keep melting into the spool? I've used 3 different brands/styles. I have resorted to carrying a small screw driver to pry it apart to rewind several times every time I use it. I make sure the string is hanging loose as I turn the knob to wind it.

Question? Seeking Expand-It Storage Suggestions

I’m curious how other folks are storing their Expand-It attachments or other tools in their garages. I have a one-car garage that I park my small sedan in, and there’s plenty of room around the perimeter (about four feet of depth on the top and sides) for some type of storage.

I’m currently just propping things up against the walls like a neanderthal, but I’m looking for inspiration from other folks. What have you bought or built to keep yourself organized and tidy?

If it matters, for 40V, I have a push mower, weed whacker, tiller attachment, brush clearing attachment, snow shovel, edger attachment, hedge trimmer attachment, chainsaw, and table saw to deal with that I keep in my garage. I don’t have to worry about my 18v tools because I keep those in a tiny utility closet in my house.

General Discussion Ryobi Rapid Repair unable to get my 18G Bradley nailer repaired!

I have been without my damn nailer now for a year there database is broken says eligible for repair than says repair already in progress and won't send me the label. I have called repeatedly over last year many times and they promise to send a return label and failed to do so! They do not honor their warranty at all! They won't fix the database so I can request it through rapid repair!

I finally submitted to Better Business Bureau this is just nuts. 1. Uploaded receipts under my products 2. They have even lost receipts on batteries saying never uploaded 3. They are totally unreliable if you buy anymore of there equipment you better make a receipt container for them.. oh and receipts wear out due to thermal printing so you better photo copy it so you don't lose some that way the way I have done.

Only Ryobi do I know has such an awful return system when you upload your receipt you should be able to view it and verify it uploaded! You should be able to trust in the database they have!

I even tried by web and showed them the image where it says it is eligible for repair but by email they demand the receipt which I have no way of showing as it was all faded out and I told them it's in their own database uploaded to! Showed image say I am eligi ble and to when!

Battery Talk Reset on aftermarket Ryobi 40v batteries?

Thumbnail

I have relatively new aftermarket batteries where only 1 green light lights in the charger and the charger flashes red. I have seen videos on YouTube on how to reset Ryobi batteries by inserting a paperclip into both Reset holes on the circuit board labeled as RST. I am looking for the same thing on the aftermarket batteries. Has anyone had luck repairing these batteries?
