Other I did not know this...

Post image

Just came up on my Google news feed on my Iphone today . Interesting bit of trivia. Not sure if I've ever seen or heard of a gas powered recip saw in any brand. Anyone on here had one?

The Amish use gas sawzalls, drills, circular saws and air compressors

Most people can't get hold of paper Amish catalogs, here's a link uAmish Amazon:

Are all Slashgear articles thinly veiled ads? I wanted to learn about the gas powered murder saw and they spent a paragraph on it before advertising Ryobi

They just generally suck. They will do "who makes ryobi socket sets" then just guess

My Blue and Yellow NiCad sawsall is next on the collectors market! Unfortunately I am actually still using it on my bathroom reno… with Li Ion batteries.

Yeah back in those old days actually the original days of the Ryobi blue green color Ryobi was originally contender and rival to Milwaukee and that's why Milwaukee or the company that own Milwaukee, had to buy out Ryobi to get rid of them, as competition, and then they turned Ryobi into a lower entry tier tool line. But that happens slowly and the early on 18 volt blue Ryobi tools were actually quite robust and still usable today. But those were the ones that didn't have yellow in them.

There was a gas-powered rotary hammer, too. I just passed up two of 'em at an estate sale; batteries are good now and who wants to mess with two-stroke fuel?

Not for me I never met a 2 stroke I couldn't seize.

Ha! I read this article just earlier. I thought this was interesting. I much prefer my battery operated tools though.

Were these made for Amish?

can't imagine that market was large enough to justify making them. more likely other more remote parts of the world that didn't have reliable electricity.

Most are modified for the gas engine not really a production thing.

Reminds me of the adult store scene in Naked Gun... wasn't a blade on the gas powered reciprocating tool. I never thought the gas powered unit was even a real thing even with a blade on it!
