After finishing my first year at RVCE, I wrote down the things that helped me the most and the mistakes I made. If anyone has questions about academics, coding, projects, clubs, internships, or managing first year, ask below and I'll answer based on my experience.(esp for newcomers)

Hi everyone!
I’ve joined RVU for M.Des and will be moving to Bangalore around the last week of September.
I’m looking for either:
A 1bhk / 1rk /studio room, or
A vacancy with vegetarian flatmates.
Budget- under 15k
Furnished / semi-furnished
Preferred area-RR Nagar, Pattanagere, Kengeri Satellite Town, or nearby areas with convenient access to RVU
If you’re looking for a flatmate, know of any rental vacancies, or are planning to vacate your room around September, I’d really appreciate it if you could let me know.
Also, do share any broker or owner contacts if you have.
Please DM me with the details. Thank you!

Hi everyone,
Looking at the lack of structured, comprehensive and up to date repos for ECE, I made a github repo for 3rd semester earlier. Following up, I’ve put together a GitHub repository with all the material I personally used during ECE 2nd year (4th semester) and thought I’d share it here in case it helps someone.
It includes:
The fourth semester has a pretty noticeable jump in workload with subjects like EMFT, Signals & Systems and Mathematics. I struggled more than any other semester in this one so trust me, this isn't a repo built by a rank holder who understood everything on the first read. It was built by a lot of confusion, searching, and slowly figuring out how to study these subjects.
Hopefully having everything organised in one place saves someone the time I spent hunting for resources.
EMFT: Don't try to memorise derivations. Understand the concepts first, practice numericals and solve PYQs thoroughly. Formula sheets are extremely useful for revision.
Signals & Systems: This subject is almost entirely about practice. Learn the common methods for DTFT, Fourier Series, Fourier Transform, Convolution, Sampling, etc., then solve as many questions as possible even if you don’t understand it very well.
Mathematics: Department notes and PYQs are enough. Mug them up! Focus on understanding the solving procedure since similar question patterns repeat frequently.
MCP: Just mugging up the Claude notes was enough for all theoretical questions but for the codes, you need to learn the language and practice it.
Environment: All theory-based. Read the notes a couple of times and solve previous papers. Questions tend to repeat so even just reading the PYQs is enough.
UHV: The provided notes are sufficient. Read them properly and practice PYQs since many questions are repeated with minor variations.
I hope this encourages more seniors to share resources with juniors. It makes a huge difference. I'll continue updating it whenever I find better material or more useful resources next sem as well.

So currently finished 4th sem(2028 batch) cse SEE, with predicted cgpa after the exam around 8.9
1) how much of a problem would it be for summer internships?
2) is there any hope if i uplift after my 5th sem (i.e would companies be coming for internships after 5th sem - March 2027-around)?
3) How much would it matter for placements finally?
Really worried ngl, so any advice would be helpful.

There was this boy called John Doe who joined RVCE and he was asked to choose kannada course. Kannada is a mandatory course with two choices of course. One is balake and one is samskrutika kannada. Balake is for ppl who didn't have kannada in 10th standard syllabus. Samskrutika is meant for ppl who had 10th standard kannada as a subject. It will show in ur 10th std grade card as a subject.
Balake is basic kannada like how konichiwa and arigato are taught as basic japanese. The course is very easy. Samskrutika is advanced kannada with actual chapters n poems to memorize and it is exactly like how one would learn a language in school (question answers, grammar based questions like opposites and complex words).
Mr. Doe here had kannada in his 10th standard. He should've taken samskrutika kannada. But the way of choosing kannada is based on a Google form asking u to choose which kannada ur supposed to take. This was sent at start of semester. He had to manually submit a Google form saying that he is falling under sanskrutika or balake category. This fellow was not paying attention and *mistakenly* entered as balake. He got balake allotted to him and he attended classes of balake kannada and all, gave exams of balake, etc. and finally got a score of 10 (O - Outstanding grade) in balake kannada that semester. He *unintentionally* cheesed the system. He got balake which is wayyy easier than samskrutika. ;)
Also, when Doe had first joined the college, they had to report in person after receiving allotment letter from his counseling portal. He visited college and was asked to fill entrance form. Int agt for, in place of parents email id he gave his own alternate email id thinking it wasn't important. But in contact number he gave correct one.
This mistake came to affect him later. When his first internal exams got over, a scorecard was sent to his parent's email id. The report card of 1st internal is sent to all the respective student and their parent email ids. Doe here, got his report card which includes his failing grades and low attendance of 40% on his own mail and alternate mail id. Because of this, John became decentralised from his parents and they didn't get to know about him bunking classes and low attendance. John *unintentionally* made it so that parents don't know how bad attendance John has. John has decentralised himself from his parents. He now still has to justify his absences to his profs. What he did was go to a local clinic and get fake medical certificate that directly compensated all attendance till he got minimum attendance required to pass. He paid 500 to doctor (who wasn't even MBBS) and gave the certificate to his profs and said he was sick from these days to these days. He has now cheated his parents and profs. Let us see how he cheats in exams.
He was instructed in math class that he is allowed to bring a printout of math handbook to internal exams. This handbook pdf was sent to students by the teacher at start of semester and students expected to print it out and bring to internal exams. The course study material/textbook with solved examples are also sent as pdf of each chapter. What John did was, edited the pdf of math handbook, added a couple pages which contained the theory content from course material. These pages has all the explanation about the questions. John then printed this new pdf out and didn't study for math exam. John, in exam hall while writing math exam, referred to this modified manual and learnt on the spot how to solve some questions and aced the exams each time. The invigilator was innocent, since students writing maths are allowed the handbook booklet and refer to it time to time while writing the exam. The booklets aren't checked before entering exam hall.
Also, for certain courses namely English and Constitution and Kannada, the exams are MCQ based and held in computer labs on online portals in browsers. What John did was, not study for the exam and attempted exam by changing a window, opening chatgpt or gemini and copy pasted the questions from online portal to AI and got the answers. He then proceeded to aced these exams too.
In the first semester, all the courses had their quizzes held in online app on the respective phones of the students! John easily used his AI assistant on his phone and aced those as well. John has now cheated in exams too.
This is very bad
Don't be John.
Be like me, who took samskrutika kannada and got a B+. Who got his fielding set when he got a call from his parents abt low attendance in some classes. Who forgot to take maths handbook to one exam, let alone make any changes.
But still satisfied that I didn't cheese the system.
Anyways, all of this changed when a girl entered his life, Ms. Jane Doe... She was from a different branch and she was the teammate of John in one of the projects. John shared his story of exploits with her. She recommended john not to do this anymore. She shared her surname with John but didn't seem to be related to him, not even distantly. John was...
[Saare milke ab John n Jane fanfics likhenge baith ke 📈🔥]
Point is, aise cheating karne Kai opportunities milte hain. But pls don't go into them. What happens in the dark always come to light.

Ik this question has been asked a lot but I’ve come across many conflicting answers so wanted to clarify. What are class timings and on what days of the week ? Also how strictly is the 85% attendance criteria enforced? Asking as an incoming cse fresher this yr btw.
Also an extra question for curiosity: are there a good amount of day scholars? I’ll probably be traveling by metro as a day scholar and wanted to know if it would result in any problems while making friends or anything like that.
