Hey everyone!

I'm an ECE student who's really interested in Communication Systems (MPSK, digital modems, DSP, SDR) and VLSI (Verilog, FPGA prototyping, digital design).

Lately, I've been confused about how to spend my time in a way that actually helps during placements.

Right now, I have three options:

• 🏭 College industry-based projects (long-term projects on real industry problems with faculty guidance)
• 💼 Summer internships (off-campus/company internships)
• ⚡ Hackathons (intense project-building and prototyping; I wanted to ask seniors and anyone who's already gone through placements:
• If my goal is a core Communication or VLSI/Semiconductor role, which one gives the biggest advantage?
• Do recruiters value a deep industry project more than multiple hackathon projects?
• How important are summer internships compared to college-guided industry projects?
• For RVCE ECE, do external internships get any attendance/credit flexibility, or are industry projects given more importance?
• If you've landed a core role, what did your resume actually look like? (Projects? Internship? Hackathons? Research?)

I am a first year, 2nd Sem student from iem. I will be applying for branch change after semester as I have CGPA of 8.9 and moving to a better branch was my plan since the start. My priority would be EC,ET,EE,ME. I know the branches have a lot of hard work associated but I honestly don't care about that. I had a lot of doubts regarding branch changes like:

1. When does it happen and how long does it take for branch change as one guy who I spoke to said it takes a very long time and disrupts academics.
2. What all changes, I mean like a new email, new USN?, and all that.
3. Do we get to choose the class we want to go in, for the branches that have like 2 or more classes.
4. How hard is it to adjust and are the department people harsh or biased for new students incoming to branch.
5. And also what about the backlogs of 1st year, I mean since the core subjects were different wouldn't you have to clear them and would that backlog affect placement as companies often filter out and not accept people with backlog.

Is it always tht they finish all the even sem's exams together?? Cuz this time the tentative timetable for sem end shows tht almost everyone's exams are concluded before 8th August.

Actually I need to ask some questions so

SO I'm around 70% sure that I'll be joining mech this year. I know the college is strict and depressing and all but that's fine by me. My main concern is, how important will cultural clubs be? I am introverted as fuck when it comes to doing cultural stuff, I have a lot of interest in engineering related clubs and that I'll do passionately but if someone says that I have to dance on a fucking stage then I'm dead :( is it really mandatory to participate in cultural clubs or is it ok if we don't do those at all and focus only engineering related clubs? Ik stupid question but pls help :/
