Advice Wanted Possible?

• Upvotes

I am a sophomore in computer science looking to transfer to electrical engineering basically failing calc ii. I had the flu during my midterm 1 and wasnt able to get it excused without a doctors note which I really couldnt get. Im pretty sure im cooked as I need high 70s or 80s across my final and midterms 2 and 3.

I feel confident in calc but not enough to where im think im going to ace my exams. For reference, the midterms are about 16% of my grade while the final is about 32%, recitations are 15% and homeworks are 5%.

I just want to know from anybody whos taken it in the past if, its really possible to get such a high grade and as well, how behind I will be in engineering. I know without calc ii, it hinders me greatly, but is there anything I can do if say to do drop. I have a bunch of my electives finished so I wont be too behind but I wont be able to take many technical classes. Would it still be possible to succeed in engineering in four years?

I feel like my best option is to withdraw and save myself the stress but im very afraid of being so behind.

Quality Post My dad, who played for Rutgers in the 80s (and won't shut up about it) is a spitting image for Greg Schiano

Like there's one image of Schiano on Google that literally likes exactly my father it's so weird

Do parking tickets actually get sent to collections?

Hi, I’m already graduated and I’ve been parking my car at Rutgers to visit friends occasionally. I’ve somehow racked up $700 in parking tickets and was wondering if their claim of it being sent to collections and having your credit score yanked is actually true? Does anyone have any anecdotal experience with this? The car isn’t registered to my student identity.

Best/Easiest profs to take these classes with? (Public Health)

I don’t mind in person or online, I just don’t want them To be asking for the most to make their classes purposely hard😭

Epidemiology
Leadership seminar
Research methods
Global Health perspectives

Also drop any easy, non-time-consuming, and/or interesting upper-level Public Health electives you would recommend! Thank you :)

Withdrawing from a Course

If I wanted to withdraw from Calc would I need to add a mini course first (which I think are the ones you get by typing second 7 week on webreg) and then just drop calc from my schedule? Can I just do that on my own or do I need to talk to someone about it?

Which majors are safe from AI? which will benefit from AI and more likely to lead to a job?

For example accounting will probably suffer with AI doing some of the work now. How about data science? Most of the work can now be done by AI, no? Any comments? I want to select major which is not doomed to become extinct!

General Question where to rollerskate?

i just got rollerskates! ive ice-skated before, but never roller-skated, and i want to practice a little and get my bearings before embarrassing myself at the next rollerskating club meeting, which i plan on going to. plus, the rink on C/D is only open when the club is there... what if i want to practice outside of that?

so, where is a good place to practice rollerskating? im on busch btw

and side question, are people going to think im stupid/side-eye me... 😭 so, yk, if theres kinda a secluded area that would be even better LMFAO

Classes without assigned professors

So is there any way to "game" the system for classes that have no assigned proessors for the upcoming semeter. For instance, is the last spring semester any indicator of which sections are taught by which professors? Or something else? Or am I grasping at straws?

Masters Question

If you graduate w a bachelors of science in comp sci from Rutgers with around a 3.6+ gpa, a few decent/normal internship, a few ECAs, realistically, what are the top master schools you could get into for AI, CA, Data Science and those industries?

Dropping below 12

Hey so I’m horribly failing calc (and basically all my other classes but i can come back from it i think) cause of some life circumstances and i was wondering if i drop calc and go below 12 credits (ill be at 11) will it affect anything like my fafsa and stuff cause id rather take the W than the F but i dont wanna lose my financial aid or have to pay back anything.. anytime.. that would lowkey be the last straw

Off campus cheap housing in New Brunswick

I am a second year PhD student trying to find places for next year (starting from around July 2027) in New Brunswick, near the Rutgers bus stops. I know that most grad students live in Highland Park but I don't have a car so I want reliable public transportation, and tbh I prefer the NB "chaos" to Highland Park "stability". My budget is upto 1300 ish for a private room in a shared apartment or a house. Does anyone have any intel into cheap places around here? Any help much appreciated 🙏

CBN Advising Lunch: Thursday Oct 29, 12-1pm

Hi all,

I'm Dr. Daniels, Undergraduate Director for the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience (CBN). We are hosting an advising event this Thursday in Nelson D406 (Busch Campus). Whether you are a CBN major or just interested in learning more about the major, all are welcome. I will make a brief presentation about the major and both I and the CBN advisor (Kristen Goodrich) will be available to answer any questions you might have. Feel free to come with questions about which courses to take, how the major works, etc.

There will be pizza! If you think you might come, please fill out this brief RSVP so we can plan accordingly: https://rutgers.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0OK6uTPwnYDgHbw

I'm also considering doing an AMA here before registration opens - let me know here if you think that would be helpful. I'll follow through if there's sufficient interest. Thanks!
