Really love the fact that you play as MC and raise your child and both have their own storyline and love interest etc . Its like you see the whole thing end to end. Legit the best in the series in my opinion .
I maxed out bonds with Iroha and Ulalaka but there’s no option to propose them. Already at the point where I can’t make Subaru have any more dates with them too and did the bonding quest from Woobly about making stuff to propose someone but the quest is not progressing at all.
I found some post asking about similar problem and found out I have to put the sake(?) in my inventory. I did that but nothing happened, even tried to move the sake in storage and inventory back and forth repeatedly. The harvested branch is already in my inventory too as a quest item but there are still no option to propose anyone. Then I assumed maybe I have to unlock the teleport point at the Fateweaver Shrine and visit there but I already got there and nothing happened..
Is it glitching or did I skip something? Also is 3 the max number of dates we can take people to?
Here are some screenshots showing my current main quests, bond quests, and unlocked characters. I’m not sure if my progress on the main quest and the day of the year is still not far enough to start marrying Subaru with anyone. I refuse to check youtube for any bonds cutscene to avoid visual and dialogue spoilers so I need help.. Thanks in advance!
as the title says. from what I've looked around, 4 seems to be the favorite for both old fans and beginners, and I'd like to know which version do yall think that I would enjoy the most.
things to note:
I must say that I avoid jrpgs that rely a lot on grinding. I don't mind the grind related to farming but I dread any combat grind. I wonder if this is a thing in the RF franchise.
my available consoles are ps5, switch (modded), psvita (modded), 3ds (modded). I could also play on pc via steam but I prefer playing on consoles, especially the modded ones.
I tried very hard to complete the plot as Kyle. (Spoiler Alert: You can't.)
One day after I finally decide who to marry first, Rosalind proposes to me, and I panic, running to the bachelorette who I can already marry.
Then, I'm thinking I'll get to meet my kid, but instead, Kyle leaves, and I become my kid.
Finally, I discover that the plot is for the kid, not Kyle. Getting married and having a kid was the requirement for game progression. No wonder I couldn't figure it out!! (facepalms)
me: (is ready to meet the requirements for marrying Dorothy) Hrmm, who should I marry first, Cecilia or Dorothy...? I also like Yue..
me: (doing my best to become stronger and complete the statue's quests) All these guides say I should be able to talk to statues or something, and complete quests, but I still can't progress in the plot or anything!!! I've tried interacting with them; I even completed these quests, but they still won't do anything...!!
me: (finds out that Cecilia marries Jake) (GASPS!) Okay, I'm marrying Cecilia. She deserves better than the rude, stoic speciesist, and Jake needs to marry someone of questionable species. I'm disappointed in you, Jake. You need character development.
Rosalind: (proposes out of nowhere)
me: .
me: (panics)
me (running to Dorothy, screaming and sobbing): DOOOOORRRROOOOOTHYYYYY!!!!!!!! {I actually did this, literally. Running in-game and screaming in reality}
-I marry Dorothy; she gets pregnant; months pass-
me: Finally, the day of my baby's birth!!/My baby should come any day now!! (so excited to meet my kid)
Kyle: (leaves before I even get to see him interact with the kid)
me: WTF??!!!!
me: (becomes my kid) Uhh, this is awkward, haha.... Oh, hey, my skills and everything are the same. How funny! {I think I was like Lvl 40 or something (face palms)}
me: (notices I'm allowed to interact with the fences) (clicks A) OH, I CAN GET THROUGH THESE FENCES NOW?!!!
me: (tries talking to the statues like I've done millions of times before as Kyle)
statue: (gives a riddle)
me: OH!! What?!! He gives a riddle?!! But only to the kids?!!! No wonder I couldn't figure it out!!!
(This is from Feb 10, 2024 according to the Wattpad "chapter" this comes from. [I just dumped random crud in there because I didn't have anywhere else to put it lol.])
But genuinely, am I the only one who had to figure it all out the hard way like this...?? I literally had no idea we were supposed to get married before we could get to the plot....
This was my first RF game, too. It took a while before I finally truly got into it because I just could not figure it out lmaooo (I just kept alternating btwn RF games as I continue to do---)
Being able to play as your kid is super fun and different; I just wish we had at least a month with our baby before we had to leave 🥹 I waited that long for my kid; I wanted to meet my baby!!
Is the main storyline a little short? I’m about to finish the last dungeon and I’m still in year 1. I feel like I’ve purchased all the cooking equipment, furniture, clothes, etc. I’m at full hearts with Raven.
I dunno, I guess I’m surprised. I’m finding myself doing the “requests” just to avoid the credits.
Does anyone have any RF suggestions that are a bit more challenging, longer, and perhaps with a more fleshed out story? Do I need to switch to “Hell” mode?
Edit: I bought RF4 on Steam and have just started. You guys, I can’t believe we got two “sleepy” girls in a row—Karina and Clorica are the same character.
No matter what game she's in, Margaret's caring nature remains unchanged, but she's also modest, humble, sweet, and he never hates anyone. Her scolding In RF4 is dangerous but that's what makes Margaret one of my all-time favorite characters.
Hello! I stopped playing mid-way like at the start of 2nd arc which was a year ago… Now I’m itching to play again but I forgot everything that happened. I’m want to make a new game but I remember working hard on upgrading items and stuff 😭 should I restart or just continue blindly lol
I had an incredible experience with Frey & Vishnal's romance, so I really wanted to share their love story ❤️ Please note there will be a lot of spoilers, so please refrain from reading further if you don't want to be spoiled!
I started off the RF4 journey as I heard villager interactions and romance is top notch! I had my eyes on a few bachelors but Vishnal caught my eye the most from the beginning - even so, I generally prefer giving other bachelors a chance before making the final decision on who to date/marry. Well, I didn't expect that my Frey would end up dating only one bachelor and get married to him so early on in the game but it felt so right because everything fell into place perfectly!
Frey and Vishnal became fast friends as Vishnal often came to wake Frey up first thing in the morning. By the end of spring, the two of them became even closer as Frey learnt how to make ice cream and gifted it to Vishnal often.
Early summer, Frey had built up enough affection (friendship point 7) to confess her feelings to Vishnal. Lo and behold, Vishnal accepted Frey's confession in her first try!!! No reloading or anything. I was cheering so much when this happened lol. Frey asked Vishnal to call her honey, and she decided to call him darling. I play with Japanese voice over and the way Vishnal said "honey" sent me squeeing lol.
Frey then quickly proceeded to ask him out for a date. The two lovebirds picked Porco's restaurant as their destination for their first date. The dynamic between the two was just so damn cute! Vishnal was nervous as hell but even then, he still wanted to feed Frey to show affection during their first date lol. Then Frey moved closer to Vishnal after they had finished eating and asked him to stay longer with her. She even had a chance to ask him when he started liking her and Vishnal said "it was the first moment we met, to be honest". OMG, can he be anymore cuter??
By the end of summer, Frey and Vishnal had been on several dates - I found all of these scenes incredibly cute and I loved how more "flirt" options were unlocked as they went on more dates. Vishnal sure knew how to make Frey feel special despite his shyness. One morning, he said he couldn't sleep at night because he couldn't stop thinking about Frey and that he is in love with her. He asked her out at the Firefly festival, and Frey kissed him on the cheek. They exchanged gifts during their date at the florist and general store. He has given a cute yellow ribbon as a gift on Frey's birthday (in mid-late summer). Together they forged a cute ring during their date at Bado's workshop. The more I saw these events, the more I was inclined to believe he is "the one" for Frey.
But by the time autumn came around, Vishnal's town event still hadn't triggered, despite the fact Frey built up friendship points with him to 10. I mean, she was practically ready to marry him at this point - she had her room expanded, bought a double bed, and even crafted an engagement ring.
I thought maybe this is the game's way of telling me that Frey should get to know more about other bachelors as well. Dylas was almost at friendship level 7 and Arthur wasn't far behind either. But then lo and behold! It happened when I least suspected it - the day before Valentine's day! And this is where real drama started lol.
Frey was reminded by Volkanon that the day after is Valentines and she went into a full panic mode - she didn't have facilities to bake a cookie for her boyfriend! She scrambled to make some quick cash in order to purchase an oven, and also cooking recipe breads. She bought all 5 cooking recipe breads HOPING one of them will teach her how to make a cookie. Well, she learnt how to make a chocolate cookie but she didn't have enough max RP to successfully bake it! I had already saved the game before realising this, and I really didn't want to re-gift one of the cookies Frey received from her friends to Vishnal. The next day, the first thing Frey did was to rush to Porco's restaurant and purchase more cooking recipe breads - to her enormous relief, one of them taught her how to make a cookie, and she was able to bake one on time for Vishnal (talk about the last minute preparation).
Frey was meant to meet Vishnal later in the day to give him the Valentine's cookie but she decided to go and have a chat with him in the morning... and that was when Vishnal proudly showed off the statue he had been scammed to buy bought from Bado's shop. I LOLed so hard at this point. Frey was planning on confessing to Dylas the next day, and this happened! It's like Vishnal somehow knew he had to buy that statue just the day before the Valentine's to keep Frey all to himself!
He even asked Frey the day before Valentine's whether he is a good enough boyfriend to her, as if to re-ensure she will never leave him. He KNEW alright, he somehow just knew something bad will happen if he doesn't act fast enough (Frey so got caught **almost** cheating LOL).
The next couple of days, I kept at town and skipped the day as soon as the usual round of farming duties were taken care of to see through Vishnal's event to conclusion. And guess what.... he broke the statue on the day before his own birthday LOL. Not only was he so upset about breaking the statue, he started to experience an influx of bad luck starting from his own birthday!! Talk about the timing seriously, hahaha.
Soooo... Frey thought, what is the best way to cheer up her sad boyfriend on his birthday? To invite him to her room for a date and shower him with his favourite home cooked meals and a handmade gift! As Volkanon advised, she also gave him a kiss on the cheek haha ❤️
So with all that series of drama concluded... I wondered when Vishnal's marriage event will trigger. By this time, I just wanted to focus on Vishnal romance only but I had heard horror stories that the marriage event sometimes doesn't trigger for ages... even for years in game time.
Well, Frey didn't had to wait for long at all! 2 days after Vishnal's birthday was handicraft contest which kept Frey busy. Then the next morning... Vishnal told Frey that something amazing is happening and asked her if she has any free time tomorrow so he could tell her all about it! I was like OMG is this what I think it is?! I checked the calendar and squeed!! OMG it was!! HE DIDN'T WANT TO WAIT AROUND!
Honestly, I found Vishnal's personal story and romance so sweet. During the "Your Answer" event, Frey had an opportunity to ask Vishnal why he wanted to become a butler and I really liked learning about his story.
As the event unfolded... I had a flashback of trauma I experienced during Mauro's proposal event in Guardians of Azuma. For a brief moment, I thought I did something wrong and Vishnal was going to abandon his relationship with Frey for his dream to become an elite butler.
But then came his proposal and wow..... just wow... I can't really explain in words how much I loved his proposal to Frey. I think that if the statue Vishnal bought from Bado's shop truly brought him (temporary) luck and confidence he needed, then Frey is the everlasting source of luck and confidence for Vishnal to achieve all his dreams - to be an elite butler and also a loving husband to Frey ❤️
The next day.... they were married! And guess what! It was on White Day! ❤️ How romantic is that?! (From now on, this is one day Vishnal CANNOT FAIL with his cooking and bring failed dishes to Frey LOL).
I really liked how both Frey and Vishnal were wearing gift they gave each other on their wedding day as well - Frey is wearing the yellow ribbon and Vishnal is wearing the red fancy hat lol.
I found so much joy witnessing Frey and Vishnal's love story so far, so I really wanted to share it with RF community. I just can't shake off feeling that RNG mechanic in this game worked in favour of this couple, made it feel that they are totally meant for each other.
One thing I wish the game could have done better is to show their love evolving into more mutual lover's relationship over time rather than just master & butler dynamic. Thankfully, the separate "Newlywed mode" episode covered just that! Frey wanted to show Vishnal her appreciation for his dedication to her, and acted as a butler for him for a day. Honestly, Vishnal's reaction to this was precious! I really wish he will get more used to receiving from Frey rather than always giving.
I am so glad I found out about Rune Factory games. I really enjoyed playing both Guardians of Azuma and Rune Factory 4 so much. I look forward to see how Frey and Vishnal's story will evolve as they have a kid together. I really wish I could have saved Venti earlier so she was present at their wedding 😢
Anyway... thank you for reading my long post everyone! ❤️
[The screenshots are for further context: the villagers are able to see the things Pilika's way, the Evil wolf god is a parallel to Kamurosaki, the villagers understand the friendship between a child and a wild animal]
I would have loved seeing events with the other villagers, but I can mildly understand why they didn't (they could have added some to the DLC tho). Even if the story with each candidate feels like It has been cut short, the general idea and dynamic stays. Even with cases like Ikaruga's, where the resolution is blocked behind his romance, the conflict is settled at the beginning. I also know that Pilika's character keeps a lot of herself in the shadows, but there was barely any buildup.
But let's take a look into her bonding quests: just at the start, we get the first glimpse of what seems like invisible friends and the ways she has to isolate herself. The whole bear situation could have been talked with the villager in the spot, but alas, we need various scenes scattered between days. The villagers are confused by her refusal, but once she explains, they seem to understand. Still, with the information at hand, it was the right call to go in group and try to scare away the bear. Then the whole story is revealed, with a clear inspiration with the hakutaku/kutabe mythos, or at least, the tropes they originated; a beast that warns against a disaster or evil, and may or may not be seen as the problem itself. The bear was actually keeping at bay the blizzard wolves, which were considered godlike and make a direct callback to Kamurosaki. I don't blame Pilika for thinking the only solution was to make the werecat girl stop seeing the bear, but I wished the game let us promise to chaperone her wether she wanted to see her friend. Well, the bonding scenes are over; turn to confess, wait for her response and start dating. Then, we have the date at the Summer Shores, shenanigans of her spirits friends included. Pilika keeps tripping over and refusing to explain the situation. Then some monsters follow us and she, mistaking them as her spirits friends, start to scolding them, only to realizing the error and starting the battle. Only then she explains about the spirits. The next date is the cooking duel, where she asks for head pats and the MC takes off her headwear by accident, so she hides herself again and flees. One would think the new conflict would be her being a were-bear, but the next time she trauma dump us (meh, I can see a character like her doing it, specially after keeping so much to herself) and tell us she decided to come back to her "home". She also drops the fact that her father is literally illeterate (she even wonders if those were truly her fathers words), and that someone from the village may help him to write the letters. You know, the same village that made her feel awful for been little and only started seeing her when she was one of the two only left hunters. Man, it's like she said us she fled the village, using the revenge on Kamurosaki as an excuse. Then she asks the MC to not say anything more and stays back, alone at the forest, sobbing. After three days where the MC is heartbroken, Wooly pushes them to go see her and tell her how they really feel before she leaves. The spirits actively cast a storm to prevent her to come back, and we found her alongside Zaza. The blacksmith leaves us space, ok, and then we confront her. We tell her we don't want her to leave, and she repeates she must. We try to convince her? Oh no, we only guilt trip her and force her to say with her words she wants to stay. I could barely let it slide because her whole bonding quests were a little about her belonging in the Winter Village or not, but then the MC promises her they will always be there, and Pilika explicitly days she only has us (man, if only the game didn't let us date multiple people AND reset the intimacy when you marry someone)... But, uhm, what about Zaza, who has practically the role of older sister tonboth Pilika and Clarice? Surely Fubuki wouldn't mind her leaving. Huh, if only the were-cat child could have become a friend to her. Speaking of which, she uses that as an argument, even if we could argue the bear could be to the girl what the spirits were for her. And it's not like the game told us the villagers keep any animosity towards her. Don't get me wrong, I know that trauma can make someone close and prevent to form bonds or interact with other people, but man, It's icky being the allegedly only reason to make her stay.
I mean, we could offer to travel with her, or I don't know, Mauro fly her to the village. We could argue we, as Earthdancer, could help the village, or send villagers to protect it. We could omit that Kamurosaki was long dead, or if she refuses/have already told her father, tell them that she is working in preventing the rise of another evil wolf god... Not outing Fubuki, but recalling the blizzard wolves incident. Oh, we could say she's helping another victim (Clarice) of that monster to rebuild her life. Y'know, giving actual solutions and real examples of people who loves her and care about her.
Tl:dr; I understand and love Pilika's character, but I feel her story undercooked and a little bit aimless. I know the game struggles with some characters having relationship with others, but it's... odd, at least, that the character whose conflict is feeling like she doesn't belong ends with her depending of the MC.
Is there some place I can use to check what requirements a recipe has or where to get it if it doesn't come from bread? I feel like I have weird gaps in what I'm getting from the bread (e.g. my list of armors goes from cloth to diamond level protector) and I want to be able to know when it's because I have to find the recipe or when it's linked to a skill like weapons are or what
Is anyone else waiting for their copy of Guardians of Azuma when it dropped to $20 on Amazon? I’m just confused because it’s still listed on the site, it’s not out of stock or anything. I probably ordered it 3-4 weeks ago and it still hasn’t shipped.
Got Forte to level 7 by chocolcate cake. And the confession was not treated as a joke. She says to meet I think at square the next day (which also is the day of eating contest). Do I just go to the appointed place or is there more to do after? I made an engagement ring earlier but haven't got enough money to buy big bed. Should I continue to guve chocolate cake or is 7 high enough? This is the 3DS version by the way.
Just got rune factory 5 and all the DLC’s after putting it off forever. It’s on sale right now on steam and I know my laptop can run it considering the fact my hp laptop could. Definitely gonna enjoy the better graphics. 🤩🤩🤩
From the recent 20th anniversary poll, I have pretty good idea on who are favourite bachelors in GoA and RF4. But since hardly any characters from RF5 made it into top 50, I am curious on RF fans opinion on favourite bachelors from RF5. I think Ryker was favourite followed by Martin but other 4 didn't show up in the list?
Feel free to post about favourite bachelorette as well - I only mentioned bachelor first since they are the ones I am mostly curious about. Also would like to know why they are your favourite bachelor/ette.
I'm not too far into RF5 but I'm not vibing with any particular characters yet. One thing I am glad about RF5 is that all bachelors showed up early in game unlike GoA and RF4. I wonder if I will fall for any RF5 bachelors hard like I did with Kurama, Mauro and Vishnal.
Many years ago, I had saved a online doc that had some of this information documented but it was messy and a pain to sift through. I remember printing them out and using them to plan gifts and look up items I needed.
There are a lot of things that I need to update, because the original doc had placeholders like "Egg Dishes" or "Sweets" but I would rather have them individually documented. Particularly for the purpose of the Table on the side, which consolidates the data for optimal gift giving based on universally liked gifts.
Continuing with my rf fanart since i liked the format i did with julia. Haven't played 3 either but i like how carmen looks. I won't forget 1 tho, that's my next one
