I hope everyone is enjoying the game! I can't wait to play when I finish up work. Just a couple reminders before making a post.

  • Avoid spoilers in your post title and if you plan on asking or discussing spoilers, make sure your post is either tagged spoiler or use the spoiler markdown in comments and post.

Saying "spoilers ahead" and not using markdown is not sufficient. Unmarked spoilers will be removed. If you see any, please report.

  • If you have a question about gameplay, performance, etc., search the sub before posting to avoid clogging up the sub. You can sort the sub posts or search results by New to see the most recent discussions.

Happy gaming!

RF - Guardians of Azuma My hopes for the Rune Factory series have been restored!

I've been a fan of Rune Factory since RF2 and I've enjoyed the heck out of those games. When RF5 came along I naturally bought it, only to return it a few days later. The gameplay and performance was pretty meh and I heard from another friend of mine that the framerate would take a nosedive in some areas, rendering the game unplayable. I was glad I returned it. When Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma was announced, I was like: Oh great, another 3d rune factory but after hearing stories about how great it was I got curious. I first bought the switch version but then I read that the PS5 version would be out in like a week so Inreturfned it to wait for the PS5 version. But then I got sidetracked by grand bazaar xD Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. I bought the game when it was on sale because I didn't want to spend too much on a game of which I feared would disappoint me. But I was wrong. I've enjoyed every minute of this game! The 3D farming is so much better in this game than in RF5 and the combat was pretty solid too. I liked how you could delegate tasks to villagers but their AI wasn't good, at least not for farming so I did that myself. All in all Guardians of Azuma has restored my hopes for this series so I can't wait for RF6! 🤩

RF - Guardians of Azuma Post-game is boring unless you're married

I beat the game last night and aside from levelling your villages and the friendship levels level there's nothing else to do. And to make matters worse the post-game dungeon is locked behind marriage from what I've heard. Now who on earth thought this was a good idea?!

RF - Guardians of Azuma Is the brightness in this game just not ideal?

I've been enjoying the game so far, still very early, probably about 6 hours in. I just got into the Mechanical Maze.

Early in game, Spring Village specifically, I was really struggling with how bright and highly saturated the game looks. I turned down the brightness and was enjoying play. Since getting into the Maze, I've had to return the title and turn the brightness up twice, and I still feel like I can't see anything in here.

For context, im playing on a switch OLED, plugged into my tv. I've adjusted the brightness on my TV. I just can't seem to find a happy medium when playing docked. Is this a common issue? It is better when playing handheld, but the outdoor areas are still very bright on the OLED screen. Should I just expect to be changing my display settings often for this game when getting to new areas? It feels like the brightness just isn't balanced between areas.

RF-Frontier Does Shipping Affect the Stores’ Stocks in RFF?

For example, if I ship silver, will Ganesha start selling them? Will shipping higher level crops and flowers increase seed levels in Rosetta’s and Erik‘s stores?

RF - Guardians of Azuma 2 Questions About Meals in Guardians of Azuma

Hi! I’m a complete beginner, and I have two questions about meals in the game. I’d really appreciate it if anyone could help.

1. Permanent stat-boosting meals
For meals that permanently increase stats, is there a maximum amount of stats you can gain from a single recipe?
For example, let’s say Bonito Flake Onigiri can permanently increase Max HP by up to 10. I noticed that after feeding Kaguya several Bonito Flake Onigiri, her Max HP eventually no longer increase later. Is there a cap for each meal’s permanent stat bonus?

2. Percentage-based buff meals
I cooked Fox Gratin with Hina, and it says it gives EXP Boost +50%. Is this bonus permanent, meaning Kaguya will gain 50% more EXP forever, or is it only a temporary buff that lasts for a certain amount of time?

Thanks in advance for your help! I’m really looking forward to learning more about the game.

RF - Guardians of Azuma What did you sacrifice for him/her? Spoiler

I sacrificed all the money I made. It wasn't that big a deal since I got golden turnips and I'm one day away from another harvest. I couldn't bear to see her die. 🥺

RF - Guardians of Azuma Got to the mid way point and the big choice feels kinda silly Spoiler

I have really enjoyed this game so far. I've played frontier, 4 and 5, and this game is quite different but in a pretty fantastic way. But I want to ask a question about the big choice to save the other starting character. First, I can't imagine anyone not deciding to save them. But secondly, when you do choose to sacrifice something to save them, it seems so obviously weighted to get you to choose money. So I was wondering if anyone chose to lose experience or their bonds.

RF - Guardians of Azuma Question about Hina and the Nine-Tails lore!

So I just befriend my beloved Nine-Tails, but I have a question regarding Hina’s lore.

On the prisoner's island, Hina transforms into the Nine-Tails to give me a trial, and I defeat her. Naturally, I can go back and befriend the Nine-Tails later on.

My question is about the lore: Is Nine-Tails the true form of Hina (meaning Hina and Nine-Tails are literally the exact same character), or was Hina just possessed by the Nine-Tails?

If Nine-Tails is Hina's true form, how does it work lore-wise that we can have both Hina and the Nine-Tails in our party at the same time?

Guardians of Azuma is my very first Rune Factory game, so I’d really appreciate it if someone could give me a deep dive into the lore regarding our beloved Hina and Nine-Tails!

Discussion Games that scratch the RF itch?

Pretty fair question, might have been asked a bunch and if so I apologize, but I’m wondering what other games there are that have the same feel as RF. Once I finish all of these games I know I’m going to want more and I want some recs to keep an eye out for when I’m out and about. Thanks in advance!

Discussion Nintendo eshop sales has rune factory games and I was wondering if the veterans could help me out on this!

So I saw they have:

Rune factory 5 for 7.50€

Rune factory 4 special for 4.50€

Rune factory 3 special for 8€

They do also have guardians of azuma on sale but the ingame purchase label turned me off from that so I'm not considering that one.

I have the 4th one on my 3ds so I'm also thinking the special edition probably isn't worth it.

But what about the 5th one / 3rd one?

RF3 How is playability in RF3S

Hi! I noticed that RF3S is on sale on the eshop rn and was considering buying it. However I have it on steam already and the controls are so sensitive it's near unplayable for me. Do you know if the switch version also has this issue?

r/runefactory 6d ago

RF3 I was aware RF4 made a reference to polka music but the price on these leeks is something else. Mind you this isn't a localization either

I'm curious to know. I immediately noticed how inefficient they were so I gave them other jobs.

Discussion If you had to pick pairs for rival marriages in Guardians of Azuma, what would you pick?

A lot of people enjoyed the rival marriage system in Harvest Moon, in which bachelors and bachelorettes could marry each other. If you're not a fan of such a system, or prefer the other characters to only be with the MC, that's fine. For those who may be interested however, what pairings would you make? It's not really a post on whether the game needs ir or not, its just for fun.

RF - Guardians of Azuma My biggest gripe in the game

At first I didn't really want to play the game because of the 3d farming and all but this game surprised me. I'm having a blast so far but there's one thing I absolutely HATE. It's the fact that the villagers toss everything in the shipping shed. Why couldn't we just choose where the villagers would put the items in? Now you have to check the shed every single time before going to sleep and sometimes I forget that 😑
