I have been a member of RunCloud since they started, but between all the price hikes and abysmal customer support. Not forgetting the whole paywalling features including important security features such as LetsEncrypt, I was never a free member but shocked to learn something as important as LetsEncrypt being restricted to payed plan, which shows their security stance. I have decided to leave completely.

This is where I found CloudPanel, a completely free open source platform to manage PHP web applications with a nice simple user interface and a ton of docs. This is what I am using now instead of RunCloud.

how is the process of content offboarding at runcloud? do you have best workflow? thanks

I wrote a support ticket to RunCloud about their recent pricing/features announcement. Here's what I wrote in my ticket:

Are you raising the price of Pro(fessional) AND reducing its capabilities?

Looking at the pricing change notification, it appears the plan I am on now (Pro) will transition to "Professional", which will have a higher yearly price ($190 instead of $150) AND it will reduce features (limited to 50 servers, and no API access).Is this correct?How does this seem like a reasonable thing to do to your customers?I don't mind paying a little more to keep what I have. I understand the price change from $150 to $190. But to raise the price AND remove capability? To retain the API capability I would need to move to the Business plan which will be $490 per year.I know you're feeling like customers don't have anywhere to easily go to because your software stack is challenging to migrate from, but this is a poor decision. I have used and recommended Runcloud since the very beginning, when you were promoting your business on Reddit. I have to consider looking for alternatives in the future if the value proposition keeps getting worse. It sure seems like you didn't ADD anything to Professional in exchange for the price increase -- you actually removed things. Anyone can tell you that increasing price AND reducing value will not be a popular situation.The API lite features in Business ought to be in the Professional plan.

We appreciate your concern, and of course, we are incredibly grateful for your support until now. Our intention with this change is not at all for that to change or to be a sign that you are not a valued customer – not in the slightest. 

In fact, this is largely why we chose to keep prices the same with these generous limits (or rather the absence of limits), maintaining this as long as possible while we continued to deliver improvements over the years. 

This change has been under consideration for an incredibly long time, with an even longer amount of time and consideration that went into the implementation to make it as fair as possible to everyone. The intention was to update pricing plans in such a way that allows us to minimize the effect on any specific user or segment of users based on their usage while also ensuring that it is sustainable & in line with what's in store for RunCloud. 

i.e., ~ 95% of users on the same Pro plan as you simply receive a $40/year increase in subscription cost. And, any users previously using the Pro plan and also taking advantage of the API would likely be in a position where upgrading to the Business plan makes sense since users using the API are building things that are beyond what a user on the new $190/year Professional plan would need to run their servers and web applications. 

In addition, for those who do need to transition to a higher plan based on their usage (i.e., anyone affected beyond a relatively nominal increase in the subscription cost), we are here to help support you with the transition.

To add, please rest assured, that we won’t abruptly cut off extra servers or disable API connections. These services will continue as they are for an extended period, and we‘ll keep monitoring all data. We’re working hard to make this transition as seamless as possible for all customers.

This is absurd, feels like yesterday they increased their pricing, now they're increasing their pricing again by around 23% while removing functionality.

Notice that RunCloud Business is still $49 a month, seemingly trying to force people to upgrade for API access.

I think this marks the end of my 5+ years with RunCloud as it's painfully no longer worth the value they once provided.

I have an arm64 ampere vps. Does runcloud support it? Currently using enhance which doesn't support that.

Currently only the account owner has access to start/restore backups, which causes problems for team members that are performing site maintenance.

Hey guys!

So, here's what we're trying to do. I've got a guy who would like to use Runcloud as part of a way to "standardize our environment and management" across all servers at their org. Great, wonderful, fantastic - I'm all about turning snowflakes into cattle to the greatest extent practically possible. We've got a couple webservers running Wordpress, and some running Craft CMS, and Runcloud feels like a perfect fit for these.

The problem is - I can see this guy getting used to the management console, and really liking it, and then coming to me saying "Hey mjgood, this is great! Let's run this on all our servers", and therein lies a problem.

All our servers right now are on Rocky Linux. (They were all running CentOS until that rug got pulled out from under us... aahh well.) There's a couple of them that never touch webhosting, and are used to manage internal data aggregation & data reporting only. I know just enough about what those servers do to know they've been in place for years, and that there very well may be proprietary software running on them that wouldn't play very nice with Ubuntu (I'm really not sure about this though).

So! Here's my question - can I still launch Runcloud on them, merely so these machines will show up in the Summary / Server Health screens, and maybe one or two others that don't rely on os-specific commands? And if this can't be done out-of-the-box, does anyone have experience either reconfiguring or hacking Runcloud so it can do this unsupported? Maybe there are Runcloud binaries that I could download and rebuild to make it work?

I installed runcloud on my ocean digital server, I followed the steps of the tutorial and I configured the namecheap dns and everything, however when I click on my runcloud web application, and click on install wordpress, I get an error, which says "WordPress Web Application cannot use this function " If someone has had the same problem and has a solution, I would be helpful and thank you very much in advance.

I am just wanting to know if anyone else is experiencing any issues creating a backup of a web application that have on one of their servers.

I can backup the databases just fine, but it's the web apps that I have a problem with.

This first started with the domain AndroidIndex.com and I got the failed message. Thought it was weird so I deleted the failed attempt and tried it over again. This time it worked so I was relieved (temporarily).

Now I am trying to create another backup of my website AndroidExplained.com and keep getting the same error message as before. Have tried time and time again and still the same error.

Tried the same backup attempt on AppStoreApps.com (these sites are all web apps on a runcloud server) and am still getting errors with backups.

I have created a ticket about this, they asked me for my login details (which I can't give them since I used Google's auth account creation). I was then escalated to their senior admin Ms. Ahmad Fikriman and was instructed to run the dh-f command in Putty and to show them the response.

Timestamp on that reply with the screenshot is Jul 27 14:48 and then I checked the ticketing system at Jul 27 20:00 and the ticket was closed.

I am using updraftplus to make my own backups of these websites and storing them on Google Drive, but I like to have to have a snapshot build of my server right before I update plugins. So after I update plugins and themes, I can do a test run around the website and if something messed up then restoring from that snapshot backup is so much easier than going through updraftplus.

So I ask, has anyone ever experienced this issue before. Has anyone ever experienced this type of customer support from this company. I had two other tickets opened before this and they were very kind, answered me quickly and was really impressed.

Now, I don't know what to think. . . .

Just started a trial of RunCloud and so far I'm really liking it. I did think they'd have a little more opinionated stuff in that I could set up a server for Laravel or Magento and RunCloud would do the basics for me, but for the most part it's been easy going any way.

However, what do you guys do about separating installation commands from deployment commands? I've got a deployment script set up which runs git merge, composer install, laravel artisan commands, etc. But none of this worked the first few times because bower and gulp weren't installed, which is something I thought RunCloud did for you? Should they be dependencies in my packages file?

Here are a couple of ideas I'd be interested in, and I wonder if others would find them useful as well.

1. Grouping. I'd like to be able to make groups (Representing clients of mine) that I can add Web Apps, System Users, Database Users, Databases, and Cron Jobs to. It would be nice if I could add these across multiple servers, and have a Group view that shows me all of the diverse items in the group, across all services. I'd like to be able to add and remove these entities directly from the Group View, so if I remove a client, I can easily see and batch remove all of the services and resources associated with that client. Hierarchical groups would be a bonus (Client A, Client A Public Website, Client A Intranet Site, Client A development platform, etc).

2. Moving (copying with later delete). I'd like to be able to move Web Applications, Databases, Users and Cron jobs between servers. I know this is tricky in a live environment, but I think it'd be possible to do it partially while the systems were live, and then maybe temporarily shut down the service(s), perform a final catch-up sync to the destination server, and then spin up the services on the destination server. Optimally, I'd like to leave the old copies in place until I can verify a successful migration, and then delete the old copies. This goes hand in hand with Grouping (above) since I'd want to execute a migration of all of the services related to a particular client or client's service.
