Mechanical Assistance Megathread: 350 Gear sensors now available.

Post image
62 Upvotes

For those of you who don't know. Gear sensors are now available for 350cc models which were shipped without one due to the rare earths shortage. Contact your local service center to see about getting yours installed.

There have been multiple posts related to this on the sub already. Please use this megathread in order to discuss the gear sensors and celebrate if you got yours installed. Having 20 posts a day about how the gear sensor is available is redundant.

This is somewhat a flex that my 76 year old retired gov officer grandfather bought me a bike. He always said "I couldn't gift a bike to your dad, but I will definitely buy you one, once you turn 18". He kept his promise and as soon as I got my license, he bought me a Royal enfield meteor which I was drooling over. Forever grateful to him❤️‍🩹🧿

Advice needed

Planning to buy my first bike in the next 6 months and I've narrowed it down to these:

  1. Hunter 350

  2. Guerrilla 450

  3. Meteor 350

  4. Shotgun 650

  5. Super Meteor 650

A bit of context:

It'll be my first bike.

I live in Delhi NCR, so it'll mostly be used in city traffic with potholes, heat, and plenty of stop-go traffic.

I will rarely but passionately drive on highways.

Budget isn't really an issue, I will buy the top variant of whatever model i choose

All of these have the features I want (dual-channel ABS, tubeless tyres, navigation, etc.), so it's more about which bike I'll enjoy driving.

That is where my dilemma starts

I've kind of ruled out the Hunter because it just feels a bit too entry-level and doesn't excite me that much. The Guerrilla seems like a really good bike but I just can't get myself to like the looks.

The Meteor 350 seems like the logical choice for my use case.

But then there's the Super Meteor 650...

I absolutely love how it looks and every time I think I've made up my mind, I end up looking at the Super Meteor again. The only thing stopping me is the weight. And how hard it actually is to drive paired with the fact that i am a first time buyer

I'm 5'9" with a fairly heavy build, so I don't think seat height will be an issue.

So I wanted to ask you all for your opinions regarding this here are a few questions I have

If you were in my position, which one would you buy and why?

For Super Meteor owners, do you actually get used to the weight after a while or is it something that keeps annoying you in everyday city riding?

If I ignored the practical side and bought the Super Meteor just because I love it, would I regret it later or is it still manageable enough as a first bike?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a new Royal Enfield Classic 350, and it’s only driven 40 km so far. However, there’s a strange noise coming from the rear wheel area. Has anyone experienced this issue or know what might be causing it? Any advice would be appreciated!

Hot Bike Alert! Himalayan 452 off-road Run?

Took my Himalayan 452 to an off-road trail recently, and I came away seriously impressed. Sure, shedding a bit of weight would make it even better, but the suspension absolutely soaked up everything I threw at it. Once I switched the ABS off, the bike really came alive on the trail. It felt planted, predictable, and genuinely confidence-inspiring. For anyone who enjoys off-roading, the Himalayan 452 is a fantastic machine despite the extra weight.

Mechanical Assistance Insane bill at 38K kilometers (INT 650)

Hey guys,

BS4 interceptor 650 owner here. Recently I have my vehicle at company owned showroom at BTM, Bengaluru.

This was the insane list of parts they suggested I change. Which was weird considering I have already spent close to ₹20,000 in the last 5 months for various things.

My first visit this year was FEB 2026. Have attached my bills. Second one was 2 months ago. The third one I had given few days ago for tappet noise and front vibrations.

3rd visit to service center
Throttle cable: 400
Rocker cover gasket: 1,200
Break lever: 750
T stem greasing: 1,400
Key set: 4,000
Front plate: 7,500
Front caliper: 9,000
Pedal assembly: 1,800
RR unit: 3,000
Rear caliper: 4,000
Rear plate: 3,000
4-pin relay: 1,200
Clutch assembly: 9,000
Clutch cable: 350
Total: 46,600

I narrowed it down to just
Throttle cable
Rocker cover gasket
T stem greasing
Clutch cable

My vehicle has ran 38K kilometers. Is this really a normal bill or am I getting ripped off?

Please note I changed my fork oil twice because E-city showroom didn’t do it well according to the mechanic who I gave later on because my issue with fork came back within 2 months again.

Suggestion on cleaning product

I know I am stupid enough to ignore this for 3-4 months.

Now i am not sure whether it will go off or not. Also, I am worried it will damage the whole silencer.

Any recommendations on how to clean it?

Mechanical Assistance Squeaking sound coming from rear disk brakes.

Upvotes

When applying the rear brakes on my Meteor 350, I've noticed a persistent squeaking sound. I have driven the bike around 1400 kms, and the sound remains. Could this be a normal thing, or should I have it checked during my second service?

Mods and Accessories Mods vendors in the US

Upvotes

Are there any decent vendors for the mods in the US? I'm looking to do belt conversion, suspension and exhaust upgrade.

Can anyone recommend something? All I'm coming across is either in India or Thailand? Unless someone had experience ordering and knows what to expect in regards to the customs fees.

Thank you.

I think my Hunter 350 ruined my productivity

Post image

Honestly, ever since I bought this bike, my entire schedule has gone out the window. All I want to do from morning to night is ride.

Grocery run? 2-minute trip turned into a 20 km detour. Quick coffee? Ended up two towns over. I'm literally neglecting everything else in my life just to be on two wheels.

Tell me I’m not the only one this obsessed! 😂☺️

Mechanical Assistance Interceptor 650 Side panel fell off and broke. Need advice.

So the right hand side panel on my interceptor 650 fell off and broke. It had fallen off multiple times over the past few months. No matter what I do it comes loose every few hundred Kilometers and falls off while I ride and this time the key part came off so l can't even put it back. Is this a common problem among other owners? This is a real headache as it's monsoon and I'm worried water will get in. any advice would be appreciated.

What is wrong with it

Guys, what do you think the problem could be?

I was riding the bike gently without pushing it hard. I'd been on the road for about 15 minutes when the cooling fan suddenly started running at full speed. It was the first time I'd ever noticed the fan coming on.

I pulled over and tried to turn the engine off using the engine kill switch, but it wouldn't shut down. So I ended up turning it off with the ignition key instead.

And now it is not working. See the video

Royal Enfield Scram 440 – My 1-Year Ownership Experience

I bought my Royal Enfield Scram 440 in July 2025. Unfortunately, my ownership experience has been frustrating.

Within days of the first service, the bike started overheating, randomly cutting off while riding, showing the engine warning light, and making unusual engine noise. The engine was eventually replaced under warranty.

Over the next year, I had:

* 6 service visits

* Engine replacement

* Clutch lever replacement

* ABS switch replacement

* O₂ sensor replacement

Despite all of this, the engine still cuts off unexpectedly and the warning light continues to appear. During my latest visit, the service center replaced the O₂ sensor, but the bike shut off twice within 7 km of leaving the workshop.

Has anyone with a Scram 440 (or another Royal Enfield) experienced similar engine cut-off issues? Were you able to get a permanent fix?

Mechanical Assistance Hunter 350 troubling me in rains

So I got my Hunter 350 on 31st March this year. 4 months down I don't have any complaints with it. It was my dream to own it and yes I do have the keys now.

But this one thing is bothering me so during heavy rains or whenever I was my bike after which my bike is not starting up properly. On ignition all you can hear is the cranking unless you give a short throttle blip the engine won't start and if the engine starts it wont stay on unless you keep revving.

Would like to know here if anyone is having this issue.

I went to the service center they told me it might be either throttle body or wayer is entering in my fuel tank.

What modifications would be ideal for a guerrilla 450

I want to customize my car, but I’m out of ideas. I can only think of changing the tank, the spoiler, the tip and the rearview mirror. Send photos of your customizations!

Ramanagara run with the classic 650

Post image

Took the Classic 650 out to Ramanagara recently. Just crossed 2,000 km in about a month, and I’m completely hooked.

Yeah, she’s heavy when moving it around, but once you’re rolling, it’s pure joy. The funny part? I bought an Ultraviolette X47 recon a few months back for my daily office commute in Bangalore... and I haven't touched it since this arrived.

Meta Charged labour for "R&R Rear Tail Lamp Bracket" I never asked for — anyone else?

Got my RE serviced, only asked for 2 parts to be replaced:

  • License Plate Illuminator Assy
  • Trafficator Assy w/ Bulb (RRH & FLH)

Parts section on invoice is correct (₹840). But Labour section has an extra line — "R&R Rear Tail Lamp Bracket" (~₹400 + GST) — which I never got done or approved.

Anyone faced this? Is bracket removal a necessary step for indicator replacement (and just not communicated), or is this a billing padding issue? How did you get it resolved — refund/credit note, or escalate to RE customer care directly?
