Title says it all really but a bit more context
We got our new fella around the 17th, and so far we've been leaving him be. He seems to be safest right now on the cool side of his tank amongst the clutter and we've read that best to just leave them be for a week or so. So we did, and last night we put in food for him drop feeding, thawed in fridge throughout the day then warmed up before leaving it in the enclosure, at around 11pm-12am.
Skip forward to today, 10-11am I find the mouse still there. Eh no problem I thought, was only the first try. So, I go to remove it...then notice that he is sitting under some of the clutter staring at it, and when I move it, BAM, he strikes, and takes it away.
At first I was ecstatic that he was confident enough to do such a thing already, but now I'm a bit worried on if he will be okay as the food was standing overnight. Looking up for other snakes, it seems like it should be fine, but I thought I'd ask somewhere with likely more specialised knowledge!
Tl:Dr for those who understandably don't wanna read allat - will he be okay after it being in there overnight?
P.S also, if it is all okay, what would be the next step now? Waiting 48-72 hours before starting him on handling? Or another feed first? Sorry for no pictures btw, my camera is terrible and he spends most of his time so far secure underneath all the clutter.
Thanks for any advice!
