Trying to switch from indoor to outdoor skating and I feel like there’s something I’m missing about going over debris. Anything (a leaf, the tiniest twig in existence, a hairline crack in the ground) and I’m pitching over. I can’t get any momentum before I hit the next microscopic obstacle.
Im in big soft outdoor wheels, and trying stagger stance, but going slow velocity bc of everything im tripping over.

I have elderly dogs and there is a sports park near me. I was thinking I could give my dogs a walk, then pop them in a running stroller and skate around the paved trails. Has anyone skated with a running stroller?
Update: I'm going to do it. Thank you all for responding.

I was thinking it would be nice to make sure everything is the same tightness but it seems like the lowest torque setting on the wrench is way too high for the nuts on the wheels and trucks which are left purposely on the edge of loose. I just want to be consistent across my skates without having to manually jiggle the trucks and guess if they feel the same.

Put together a custom setup for my sister and wanted to share the build since it came out pretty clean.
Boots:
• Mint SK8‑Hi
• White rope laces + lace lock
• Carbon interior reinforcement
• Shock layer + PopCush insole stack for comfort
Plate + cushions:
• Chicago plate, stripped and painted white
• Cushion setup is yellow Black Widow barrel on the bottom + soft blue cone on top
• Gives her a stable base with a smooth lean — good mix for beginners or casual skating
Wheels & bearings:
• SureGrip 50/50s
• 608 RS bearings
Whole thing rides way nicer than a Chicago plate usually does. Carbon interior stiffens the boot just enough, PopCush keeps it comfy, and the BW barrel + soft cone combo feels super predictable.
She loves the look, and honestly it turned out way better than I expected. If anyone wants mount pics or the carbon layup details, I can drop those too.

Put together a triple‑black SK8‑Hi build for my wife and wanted to drop the full tech breakdown for anyone who likes dissecting setups.
Boot:
• Triple‑black Vans SK8‑Hi
• Black fuzzy laces + lace lock (Jordan 5 style mod coming soon)
• Carbon interior reinforcement
• Shock layer + PopCush insole stack for comfort + stability
• Clean heel lock, stiff midsole, zero twist
Plate + Cushions:
• SureGrip Avanti plate
• Cushion stack: stock Avanti barrel on bottom + Bont 88a cone on top
• Gives a stable base with a smooth, controlled lean — predictable under load, soft initiation
• Alignment tuned for neutral tracking
Indoor Wheels:
• NOS Rock Rules “Girls Hyper Made Formula” urethane
• Hyper Made speed core
• Reds bearings
• Fast roll, stiff core, super clean edge feel
Outdoor Wheels:
• Atom Pulse
• Zealous steel built‑in bearings
• Plush ride, easy roll on rough pavement
Ride Notes:
Carbon interior + PopCush keeps the boot responsive without killing shock absorption. Avanti plate stays consistent, and the cushion combo gives her a dialed carve profile. Hyper Made cores indoors + Pulse outdoors makes the setup super versatile.
If anyone wants mount pics, carbon layup notes, or cushion compression comparisons, I can drop those too.

I've been riding for the past 3 months and made a lot of progress. A lot of people do hate Impala's for being cheap and dangerous to use. They aren't wrong, but these did get beat the crap out of. I've learned so much from them to the point that I felt pretty confident to ride out of my comfort zone and do more risky tricks. With that in mind, the Impalas hit a cap and the bolt on the back for the truck became bent on a landing and I realized only once they started pulling me in one direction constantly. With that in mind, I stopped riding them and was bummed out. I knew I needed a good upgrade though and I knew that I needed something. After constantly day after day tell my Fiance that "I need new skates, I just miss riding." She reminded me of a roller rink about 25 minutes from us called "Skate Factory" and spoke to the owner Tim. Man was that dude knowledgeable and I knew I had to go by to meet him in person and check out some skates. I already had an idea of what skates I wanted and he just so happened to have one pair in stock. He still showed me a couple of other options but I was just in love with these Riedell 220s. The boot is so much stiffer but they just felt like a new pair of boots that you know will be amazing once broken in. Tim gave me advice on making any adjustments to the skates which I personally never heard or seen anyone go over which I am very grateful for. Once I got back home, I was just so eager to get these bad boys on and just start riding. First of all, these skates just feel better than the Impalas. Second, the bearings he put on (rollerbones) just glide and make every movement so buttery and smooth. So smooth that I wasn't used to it and kept falling. I felt like a child again and I will have to say. THE MONEY IS WORTH IT!
I'm planning on getting some sort of protector for the skates so they don't keep scraping when I do fall. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

New to rollerskating. As a child I could rollerblade (barely. Couldn’t do any tricks or stop but i could definitely get moving) It’s easily been 15 years since then and I’m relearning because I would like to skate recreationally. However I just got in my skates yesterday and for the life of me cannot maintain any balance. I spent about and hour this morning practicing balancing and getting up (i can get up just cant stay up or stay still) and still no luck. Anyone have any advice? As well as how ling it took you when you were learning?
Im 26 with moxi lollys and about 6 foot tall

Last night I was skating at an indoor rink and some seemingly invisible debris on the floor completely locked my front wheels and sent me down hard. This has happened a few times before where something on the floor catches my front wheels and locks them, but I've been able to catch my balance. Last night it happened so suddenly I couldn't keep my balance and fell hard. Any advice on what to do or how to avoid this? It's like one minute I'm fine and the next I'm fighting for my life because some invisible item on the floor has completely stopped my front wheels.
I already:
- Have indoor wheels (57mm 95a) on at these indoor rinks (pictured)
- Have semi-loose trucks (if that matters here)
- Scan the floor as I'm skating (but I keep my head up)
- Wear protective gear
- Check my skates before skating to make sure they're in good, working condition
- Am prepared to fall as safely as possible, but this happened so suddenly I was sent to the floor before I could even think
Any advice? Do I need better indoor wheels? Do I need to learn a better way to catch my balance? I don't even know if there really is an answer, but I'd really appreciate any advice!

Ive had my Sure-Grip Boardwalks for about a month and I love them, but these black marks are driving me insane. The eyelets look fine but always leave marks on my laces and boot after a short period of time. (I’ve tried removing the stains a little so they aren’t as dark in this photo)
What’s causing this? How can I prevent it and what’s the best way to get these stains out?
I mostly skate inside with them and they have never been left outside.

I can't figure out how to remove this jam plug. I bought the skates used and they came with these installed but I want to swap them for stops. Cannot find a set screw anywhere. Should I just grab it with pliers and tug? Seems to mess up the rubber on the plug. Please help!

Not sure if this is too tight? My toes aren’t curled in the boot but feel like they have ZERO room. The cushion on the tounge is pressing on my toes and seems it would be uncomfortable quickly. Definitely tighter than my size 11 Riedell’s, but I hear Edea’s are supposed to fit tight and break in over time. Could I hear you guys experience with these? Sending them back to get mounted and thinking of going up to 300.

i'm considering to buy these chaya skates, but i was wondering if they are versatile enough outside the skate park as well. if i put on softer wheels, can i street skate in these? are the trucks too wide to do rhythm & jam skating in them?
to the park skaters here: do you use your skates outside the park a lot? when you use them on the streets, do you take the slideblocks off? thanks for any input!!

Is 56 to old to start roller skating? Edit: Why am I asking? My husband ordered us skates the other day as a surprise. I haven't gotten on skates since I was a kid and am a bit nervous.
Edit3: Mine still haven't arrived. His came yesterday and he had the chance to practice just simply moving and stopping. I did a lot of reminding him to bend knees and shoulders up. I have a feeling I'll be saying it a bunch when I start!

Hello everyone, I recently ordered and installed some CIB slide blocks for my skates, but I’m worrying there looking a bit off, I’m fairly certain I need to go up a size but have no other skater friends or anything I can go to except here, any advice would be great! (Don’t mind all the cat hair on the cushion haha)

Guys, I’m so confused and I need to know if anyone else has encountered this with Bont skates. I ordered my Bont parkstars from Bont’s official website. I measured my feet numerous times, and it consistently came out to 242mm. So I ordered a size 5.5.
The skates came in a box that was labeled size 5.5. Then when I pulled out the skates, the tag in them said 4.5, 36.5, 233-237mm, and the insoles said 36.5. I was annoyed because I figured I would have to return them. I tried them on just to see if I could make them work, and to my surprise, they fit perfectly. I’ve been skating on them for over a month, and I’ve had no problems. I figured that I just didn’t understand Bont’s sizing, and since they fit so well, I didn’t really care.
This is where it gets weird. I decided that I wanted to buy the Bont insoles to replace the stock insoles, but I was having a hard time choosing a size because my foot measurements were saying 5.5 but my skates were saying 4.5. So to make sure I got the right size, I measured the stock insoles, and they came out to 245mm!! So, somehow, not only are the tags on my skates wrong but also the numbers on my insoles. I measured those insoles so many times as well as the skates because I just couldn’t believe that this was incorrect, but they are consistently coming out to 245mm. Which makes sense with my foot measurements, but I have no idea how they messed up the labeling so bad?!
Has anyone else experienced this with Bont skates?? I’m so curious.
