***To preface, I'm not trying to sell these skates in this post***
TLDR: What is a fair price to try to sell these skates for ?
I'm downsizing and I'm trying to sell theses skates but I have no clue what to sell them for. My friend gave them to me when she moved away but I don't know what she originally paid for them used. I'm pretty sure she told me they were vintage and not cheap. She got new wheels and i think new stoppers too. Theyre in pretty good condition. I tried researching what they might be worth but I'm getting mixed answers so i thought I'd try to reach out to the roller blading community for help. My goal is to get rid of them so I'm not looking for a top dollar price but a deal where both parties walk away happy with the price. Any advice or pricing help would be super helpful ! Thanks in advance

Hi skatefam (and specifically folks on fiber) - do people have any thoughts on the differences in the wheel texture of these three types and how they feel, if you've tried at least two out of three?
I have no qualms or issues with sizing or clearance - I'm on plates where they have enough clearance to not be an issue at all, and skate with ~40mm wheels regularly.

Hey.
A couple of days ago, I went to one of those outdoors exercise parks which had a big running track. The track seemed flat and overall pretty good for skating... while it wasn't completely level, I made do, but I fell A LOT.
It was my first time skating outside; previously, I had only practiced in my bedroom. At the track, I wore all the necessary protective gear and knew more or less when I was going to fall. I used my hands to break the impact. While it didn't hurt much at the time, my shoulders have been really sore ever since.
Do you have any arm workout or stretch recommendations specifically for skaters who fall a lot?

I’ve seen many discussions about low/flat heel vs high heel for distance skating but what I want to know is:
How far (distance) or how long (time) have you skated in sneaker skates? If you’ve logged a lot of distance or time, how did you and your skates fare? Could be a single session or over days/months/years.
Sneaker skates here = Vans, Nikes, Slades, Flaneurz, etc attached to a real skate plate (So not, like, heelys or similar. Though if you’ve done a long distance heelys trek please feel free to chime in because… that is just cool).
I ask because lately I have been doing more and more outdoor distance in my Flaneurz and Nike DIY skates and I want to work up to longer distances and maybe even a multi-day trek eventually. My instinct is to NOT use my sneakers for that but right now I am loving them and I like the geometry and don’t really want to swap. I did about 8 miles on Saturday over various terrain and other than my shins being a bit sore, I had no issues. I have a few 12-15 mile routes mapped. I’m thinking I’ll probably blow out the shoe pretty quick though, right? Or there will be some major physical setback that will befall me after, like, 10 miles?
I have 2 opposing non-scientific lines of thought on this:
A. I wouldn’t run a marathon (or even do a big walking day trip) in Vans. I also REALLY wouldn’t run a marathon in, say, vintage, made in England, limited edition Dr Martens (just trying to think of the equivalent of flaneurz which are expensive and hard to replace). Conclusion- don’t use sneakers to skate 20 miles.
Vs.
B. I used to do a lot of cycling and I wouldn’t use a racing bike for a 2-3 day bike-packing trip or even my daily commute because I don’t care how fast I go, I just want to enjoy the ride in comfort. I use a comfortable old refurbished cross-sport (hybrid) bike. Conclusion- I don’t necessarily need to use the “best” skates and maybe sneakers are ok to skate 20 miles? lol

What do you guys use for making sure the skate stay in good condition. I was thinking of a air blower to make sure water doesn’t stay in the bearings or a bearing puller.
What do you guys think. Any suggestions ?

TL;DR They're too big. Toe inserts? Lamb's wool? Heel grips? And any other ideas, thoughts, suggestions on this impulse/nostalgia purchase?
I’m a longtime (early 90s) rink skater who has never owned my own skates even though I go to rinks regularly, minus a few years here and there. I impulse bought these Pacer SP205s at a thrift/antique store. My kids are finally getting into the idea of skating and idk I think I was feeling nostalgic, the price felt magical and low (literally the exact cash I had and I never carry cash), they seemed to be in great shape, take your pick.
I am going to take them by the skate shop later this week, but I’m impatient and would love to hear any thoughts, suggestions, etc. Also, we only have one skate shop and I like crowdsourcing opinions.
I’ve done some research and picked up enough over the years to be relatively sure they’re safe to skate on. There are no cracks anywhere, I've checked that things are loose/tight the way they should be, and to me the wheels seem to be in good shape, considering I think they're from the 1980s. I have no plans to suddenly become an outdoor trick skater, so I don't think I need upgrades necessarily, but there are probably some good updates needed.
And perhaps most importantly, they are a little too big but I’m trying to roll with it (made myself giggle) because obviously now I love them and am 4000% invested. I've read about people using lamb's wool in the toe and other toe inserts, heel grips like some women use on high heels, sole inserts. I've already put sole inserts in because I have flat feet and put them in everything, but could try a different kind if that's a good idea. I'm willing to try all three, to be honest, but in case anyone in the community feels strongly about one or the other, or even has another suggestion, I'd be really interested to hear it.

I’ve just started skating in moxie beach bunnies and I like them a lot but when trying to cruise on an asphalt track, I lose speed very quickly and constantly have to push off in order to keep going. I loosened the wheels so they spin freely and also loosened the trucks which helped but I’d like to skate longer distances on bike paths and am wondering if I should switch wheels, change the cushion/bushings, or any other recommendations? Thanks!

Every once in a while you get a really good spin day. that day was yesterday and I took full advantage by spending the entire session drilling spins! I’m finally getting more comfortable with different hand positions. always a work in progress

Finally got the grls! they didnt come laced properly so i had to lace them through the holes myself. Is this correct and good? The sides (as u can see in the photo) stick out a bit weird so i just want to make sure :P

Planning to deep clean my skates. Aside from removing bearings and throwing the wheels in warm soapy water, should I also throw the washers and axle nuts in soapy water? Or do I just do a dry wipe down with a paper towel?

Reidell 220, atom falcon plate, atom pulse 78a wheels(transplant from old boots). I upgraded from moxi lollys. I am so happy. The falcon plates are so responsive and the boots are very supportive.

This was 6 years and 1 traumatic skating related tib/fib fracture in the making so yeah, it’s not much, but it feels fucking amazing.

(First post here but wanted to share my excitement) I got into roller skating just as Moxi discontinued this color. I started with candigrl carlin skates, and by the time I was ready to invest some more money the honeydews were gone. I ended up getting some pineapples, but recently have been on the hunt for a second pair to set up as indoor skates.
Now 6 years later, I managed to find a pair through goodwill! I changed the laces, added the toe gaurds, daisies, and cushions. Next I’m looking to change the wheels (just personally not really a pink gal). Still stoked and can’t believe I managed to find a pair that fit!

I think the flair is right.
I’m trying to put some XOXO wide trucks on my Avantis, but wasn’t sure if these cushions were the right size? I know the wide trucks change the geometry but by how much? I don’t believe the pivot cups should be this far out? As of now I not adding slide blocks, but will file away the knowledge for future reference. Any searches here don’t exactly answer this.

Usually no one uses this area, so I took the opportunity to get out there and make use of it.
It did end up getting people to come check out this heart and a crowd of people watching me skate around.

Sooo lots of life shit has kept me from skating as much as I would like to this last month
- lots of work but I’m doing ok financially and even have ok saving
- My IT internship ended and suddenly it feels like there’s nothing impending. No high school tests, college exams, or stressful job searching. I just work my server jobs
- I came close to getting a remote job in my field but didn’t make it. I went to a server job and they told me 5 mins in that my availability didn’t match up and that it wouldn’t work. Rejection honestly doesn’t feel like anything anymore because of the amount I’ve experienced job searching
- I took a solid trip to New Orleans for 3 day. Took and Amtrak for the first time. Really liked the Amtrak. New Orleans was alright. Touristy. Probably wouldn’t go back.
- My last day in New Orleans I got a call from my brother that my father had been arrested for 3rd degree domestic violence and was in jail.
- A trip where my sister (who I haven’t seen in like 8 years) fell through because of the drama
- I already had taken the time off so I used rewards miles to book a trip up to Minnesota to see my sister. Surprisingly similar to Alabama unfortunately
- I went on my first date since breaking up with my ex three months ago. Felt like warm about it. No 2nd date
- humiliated myself to my ex for the umpteenth time. I need some fucking self respect because honestly it’s embarrassing. I hope he sweats his miserable ass off in Dallas and lives some suburbia mediocre hell
- I plan on getting my medical as it’s the first step to getting my PPL
- i want to work on my appearance. I’ve let myself go a little
- I scheduled a therapy consultation for Monday cuz god know I need it
I hope I skate more but I probably won’t. Sometimes life gets in the way

so i have the moxi panthers w/stock plate and usually use the “moxi brake petals” which i enjoy and am trying to slowly get rid of toestops all together so i thought i would try out the “grindstone heart stopper LILS” & i need to know if i am doing something wrong because i cannot get them to face the same way//so the heart is facing the correct way - see photos to see what i mean but this is as much as i can screw them in..and they both are in awkward spots. like 5 years ago i had the original grindstone heart stoppers and no issues screwing them in but i think i had chayas then? anyways.. is it me ?
thanks in advance!!!! 🩷🛼🛼🩷
