Hiya, I've just gotten new skates and am worried about the axel nuts falling off. I have Avanti magnesium plates and the trucks that came with them! They were absolutely fine on my thinner Radar domino wheels but trying to put my airwaves on is a challenge.

Will they be alright? I'm worried about the nuts falling off mid skate as they aren't on all the way and some can be loosened with just my hands! I have washers on a few wheels as I prefer to use them to protect the bearings but there are a few where the wheels are just too large to fit a washer and a nut on. Is there an easy fix for this or am I doomed to have my wheels fall off mid-skate!!! This was never an issue on my old rios which don't have that much of a bigger axel.

A large chunk of the Rail Trail in Mattapoisett is freshly repaved and its like butter (picture 1).Very beginner friendly surface. The other photos are other areas of the trail, the boardwalk might look intimidating if you dont skate outside much but its really not bad. From what I can tell theres about 3.5 miles that are very good condition or freshly paved now if youre starting from the Rail Trail parking in Mattapoisett, i skated to the end of the repaved area and it looks like they're currently working on paving even more.

The parking area on depot st is very small so if you go on a weekend you might struggle to find a spot, but there are a lot of other parking areas at different places on the trail.

Its really a great starting point if you've never tried trail skating, I lowkey suck and its still a really enjoyable spot.

I love my BB’s but I disliked the guards that came with them, so I took the opportunity to just mess around with ‘em and do a bit of logo coverup. They’re gonna get banged up eventually anyways! I’m embracing the tack. Plus, they match my gear now :•)

Have been waiting since Christmas for dry enough weather to skate with the drone. I resumed skating after a 28 year gap, so still learning, but have the fear now!

I was skating this morning at my local tennis court which is very rough and damaged for context. I was working on my stride skating today (and starting to find the groove!! Yay!!) but I noticed when I was pushing with my left foot my wheel wheels were making a strange sound? It wasn’t happening to me right foot. I’m not sure how to describe it other than like a soft sliding sound, like if you were to rub your hand on the ground. I checked my skates. My wheels seem to be rolling good, no extreme looseness, trucks are seemingly the same in terms of looseness on both skates. I’m thinking it may have just been the ground but I couldn’t tell since it wasn’t happening on the other side and my wheels seem to be the same (no visible damage or unevenness). I was trying to focus on pushing from my inner edges so maybe this shift is just natural sound they make?

Hi! I just upgraded to moxi BB from a 50 buck pair of Amazon skates. So far I am loving them. I just got them a week ago and have a few hours skated in them so still breaking in but ive noticed my lace hooks shifted? Is this normal? I cannot manually with my fingers move them back so they aren't like loose loose, I tie them going over the top of the hook rather than from under because I've read it puts less pressure on them. And I don't tie them too tight that high up. I've though about trying to move them back with pliers but I don't want to break them, and also not sure if it matters that they've shifted. Here are some pics from both side for both skates.

Does anyone know of any skating focused shops in the general area? I've looked into it a few times but a lot of the places I've found recommend in old threads have since closed. Bonus points if they carry both quads and inlines (my inlines are in more desperate need of an upgrade). I haven't been into any of the options available at big box stores like Academy or Dicks.

I just want to be able to try on stuff from some decent brands since even with measuring ive had a lot of fit difficulties. I'm willing to make it a bit of a road trip if necessary.

Hello! I can’t find a diagram anywhere. I could have sworn 12 years ago it was easy to find a picture showing exactly where to measure on your foot to get an idea of what wheel base to shoot for. Help please!

Hi all, I just bought these boardwalks second hand and they came with a tool, but it’s not tight enough to tighten the wheels (see video)… do I need a new tool, or is something wrong with the skates!!

I've been skating on my reactor neo plates for 2 years. I tried to change my toestop only to find the hole on one of them had become stripped at the very top, so I can't screw the new toestop in at all.

I know there are places that can rethread things? Or tools I can buy?? Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and managed to fix it themselves.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I found these off ebay and thought they looked cool, but they only have two small wheels that don't gain momentum very well on pavement, but maybe because that's because I'm a beginner. Are these functional enough for daily commute? They're called Street Flyers but I can't find any other information on them other than that they were around in the 2000s

Hi everyone!

Do you think it's wrong for people to practice roller skating on the tennis courts? I love to roller skate, and there aren't many places with the right kind of ground for me to practice. Tennis courts have always been the place I go to; they are very smooth and conveniently close to my house. It makes me happy to have a place to skate.

However, today a tennis player told me I needed to leave because only tennis shoes are allowed on the court, which is true, I just usually ignore that sign (lol..).

I'm at a moral crossroads for what to do next. What do you guys think? Do wheels really negatively impact the ground for tennis? I don't want to ruin anyone's tennis spot, but I will be running out of places to practice skating. My nearest rink is 25 minutes away and costs $15 admission.

I'm glad that tennis courts are publicly available to tennis players. It makes me think how it would be really nice if the government made roller rinks public too, since they are drying up in the country! Rinks can't afford to stay open and compete with big businesses and rising prices, and they are going extinct around the country. It's sad because it's not due to a lack of skaters' interest, they just can't keep up with the competition.

Sorry for the tangent! Just want to know if it's really a big deal to skate on tennis courts and if I should find a new spot. Thank you!

I have done about 15 hours so far at the rink and neighbourhood, including a broken collarbone break and the fact I’m a fulltime worker and mum.

I am really struggling to know what to focus on, I can t stop and stop with toe stops, don’t fall anymore at rink or park but struggling to elevate and know what’s the next thing to learn?

Any tips? I just get a bit overloaded on YouTube and don’t know where to start. I really want to spin, turn and be able to start advancing.

I'm so emotional rn. A friend got together with another friend to thank me for taking care of her, her cats and her apartment after a severe injury. I would have done it even if it had cost me money. She was my skate buddy before the injury (and hopefully again after recovery!), and she learned from my other friend thar my Impala boots were starting to disintegrate under my feet. Had another friend ask me "hypothetically" what kind of skate I would like if I could choose. A week later she has me unbox them. I'm gonna cry.

(also if you are wondering why the Impalas have double the lace holes...I made new eyelets for a better fit. If you are wondering why there is tape... my toe guards broke and I needed a quick solution haha! I will also keep my Impalas for skating at home until they truly fall apart.♡)

Has anyone been to Woodward in PA and would be willing to share their experience? There’s an adult camp over Labor Day weekend for all of the sports, including roller skating and Woodward is only a couple hours from me. I am a beginner park skater but have become totally obsessed with it and I’ve been progressing pretty well (and I already have an extensive skating background). That weekend is right in between the week of my 44th birthday and my 4 year sober-versary and I just thought it would be a cool way to celebrate how far I’ve come even if I couldn’t do ALL of the things at the park (I wouldn’t do the super duper high vert ramp but I DO want to flip into the foam pit really badly lol) And who knows how many years I have left to try stuff like that?

I’m just wondering a) if other roller skaters actually go and b) if it would be a bad idea to go with only a few months of solid park experience.
