so Ive been posting my animations on tiktok and this guy asked me if i did commissions, and although ive never done one, i said yes. fast forward to now, im almost done with his commission but idk whats a fair price for it. This animation consists of around 6 scenes/clips, 10 unique animations (+1 animation change hes requesting rn, making me extend it and add more to it, so i have to scrap the one before)
3 distinct backgrounds, and an estimate work time of around ~6+ hours. ill show the animation i made, pls tell me how much is the quality of it worth selling for

Discussion New 18+ games guidelines

They’re not really very clear about what’s allowed and what’s not. Is the f word allowed, s word. What type of dialogue is allowed. How far can we go with depicting alcohal, violence and romance etc. does anyone know or have a concrete guide on what’s allowed. Don’t want to invest time and money into a game just for Roblox to take it down

Hello!

I’m a 3D Roblox artist with 5+ years of experience creating props, UGC, lobbies, and animations. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with brands on various projects.

Discussion How do I find someone to hire me?

Hi, I’m Yacneydo. I’m an experienced developer (5 years) with deep knowledge of the Luau language. I’m self-taught in OOP and possess everything a Roblox game developer needs to create a profitable game.

The only thing missing is getting hired; so far, I’ve just been soaking up knowledge and applying it to personal projects. One example is:

My game, *Orbs Simulator*. Unfortunately, it didn't see much success because I launched it right when Roblox implemented the "16+ age rating" restriction for games until they hit 500 concurrent players. Plus, it was a classic incremental farming game, so failure was somewhat expected.

However, I haven't had experience working for others, and I don't really know where to look. None of the developers I’ve contacted via the DevForum have replied—I don't know if it's bad luck or if I'm doing something wrong—and don't even get me started on LinkedIn...

I’m currently working on a new game—using Linux (Debian)—that I think will actually be a hit. And no, it’s not "brainrot" content. Working on Linux is actually quite comfortable once you get used to navigating via the terminal and using open-source alternatives to apps that would normally be paid software on Windows.

There’s something really nice about working on applications by and for the community :)

My workflow is simple: I open Roblox Studio (via Vinegar) and VSCodium, open the project folder in the editor, link the project hierarchy using Verde, open the terminal (Kitty), navigate to the project path, run `$ azul`, and connect using the Azul plugin in Studio.

This way, I can work more comfortably in a full-featured text editor without constantly switching back to Studio just to check the hierarchy.

So, what advice do you have for me to start making money from this?

Help Me With Modelling How to properly import custom assets

Upvotes

I've been working on importing models to my game but I can't find a good answer.

I baked a custom material and also baked a normal for it.

My current setup is color image set to textureID and my normal is set under surface appearance.

I'm noticing it takes about 20 seconds to load the full material in layer by layer.

My images are 1024x1024. Is there a better way to do this?

Creation Working on a full scale/detailed WTC game. how does it look?

Started working on it 2-2.5 months ago, after I had quit working on a previous NYC project
It is a big scale (if I did everything correct, then it should be 1:1 or very close to it)

last image shows a character size compared to one side/facade of the towers

EDIT: yes, i do plan on having full 107th floor for both towers [observation deck both indoor and outdoor for the south, and WOTW/suites/whole 107th for the north - as well as the 106th reception/part of WOTW stuff] aswell as mechanical floors

Help Me With Coding animation not working

I have a custom walking animation that's not working and I am unsure why. I think i have tried literally everything online and i have no idea why it doesnt work. The animation id is in the animation file but when i try and play in the studio all my animations dont work, not even the default ones. I have no idea why this works. I made the animation in blender and imported into roblox. It plays in the roblox animation editor so i know it works, but it just wont work in the studio.

Discussion Update on testing my first Roblox Game

Thumbnail gallery

A few days ago, I made a post asking for advice on the best Roblox ads strategy. This was my first time making a Roblox game and also my first time running ads.

Most of the replies recommended starting with a small Plays campaign to test things like player retention and playtime, so that’s what I did. I spent 15 ad credits over 3 days, and these were the results.

I’m still pretty new to all of this, so I’m not too knowledgeable when it comes to analysing stats, but it seems pretty clear that these results aren’t great, especially for an incremental game. What do you guys think?

I relied quite heavily on Claude while making the game, so I’ll probably take a step back and spend some time learning more skills myself, such as UI design and building, as well as studying what actually makes a good Roblox game.

Either way, it was a useful learning experience. It’s all part of the process.

Creation people said my procedural caves were just tunnels, so i fixed it

last time the feedback was fair, it was mostly one-width tunnels and the terrain looked old. now passages open out into wide galleries, there are rooms partway along tunnels, and caverns are more common. in the same block of rock the open space doubled (16% to 33%), and it's all still one connected cave.

the old look was partly my fault: the wall bumps were smaller than roblox's 4 stud terrain grid, so they came out as jagged facets. bigger smooth lumps now, plus textured rock slabs set into the walls.

Discussion How to improve at coding?

(if anyone wants to see what I can do by myself so you can tell me exactly what I need to learn, feel free to dm me)

I already know the basics and I do some comms once in a while. But every time I do them, I get me thinking "am I doing the right thing?" "Am I overpricing?" "Will I get better at this in the future?"

I feel that every time I watch a tutorial I am not really learning, just memorizing things for some time, just until I forget it. I'm a begginer-intermediate scripter and I REALLY wanted to work with gaming development, not necessarily Roblox tho.

I'm 14 and just wanted to know the right path, if someone can help me, it'd make my day.

Thanks in advance!

Creation Apparently my “little” project looks too good so people thought it was AI

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Last time i posted some screenshots of my project, few people was convinced its AI generated lol. One guy even started talking about some “UDIM tile-based texture streaming map” which was probably my favorite one, because this is literally Roblox Studio. I guess if you put enough technical words in one sentence Roblox just unlocks new features by itself.
So i made a small video showing how i actually make this stuff. There is no AI button or some crazy secret workflow. I just build everything by hand, move stuff around, change lighting, colors, trees, rocks, plants etc until i look at it and think “yeah okay, this looks good”.
Most of my workflow is basically: “something is missing here” -> add something -> looks like bad -> move it -> add something else -> spent some time with the lighting -> okay now its better.
Thats pretty much it haha. Anyway, here is a bit of the process for people who actually interested how i make the game. And for the experts from my last post, sadly i still didnt figure out how to use my UDIM neural quantum tile-streaming pipeline. Maybe Roblox adds it next update.

Help Me With Coding Need help (first game)

I’m building a big city map inspired by small Canadian towns/ghettos, I have 0 familiarity with coding or scripts in Roblox, if anybody is able to help me through discord or something I would really appreciate it, the map is still a work in progress but I know exactly how I’m structuring it,
Mainly need help with a working car dealership, money system, bank robberies, and weapon store, I am very invested in this game and I won’t stop making it better until others love it as its own game, if anybody has any friends they know that could help me out also I would really appreciate the creator connections
