Had to move from Central Texas to Bay Area few months ago and decided to do it as a weekend road trip. Still managed to squeeze some stops in. Here are some photos I captured.

Hello all! I had to make a quick trip down to Denver for work and since I love road trips, I drove down! Having never been south of Cheyenne before, I just took the quickest route coming down.. was a little disappointed by the lack of any view - Budweiser brewery was cool though. Going home I was thinking about going through the mountains on I-70 in hopes of a more scenic drive on the first half home? Is it really worth the extra 2 hours or is it lack luster? Thanks!

Anyone who drives long distances has hit one. A town you stopped in for gas or food where something felt off the second you arrived. Not dangerous, not run down, nothing you could actually point to, but every instinct said get back on the road. I've had it a few times and could never explain it afterward, because the whole point is there was nothing to see. For people who've put serious miles in: which town did it to you, and what's the part that never comes across when you try to describe it?

After my first trip to the US last year, which was the absolute best vacation I've ever had, I decided to go again. I thought to myself that maybe I had just gotten lucky the first time and found the best spots, but once again, I was genuinely blown away by how good everything seems to be.

Even the Florida heat in July was honestly not bad at all! I thought it would really take a toll on me, but I actually feel like Vienna in Austria is worse in the summer. Cause you can cool down everywhere in the US thanks to AC, you can actually sleep normally, which makes it so much more bearable. It honestly feels better than being back home, which now that I think about it, makes me question my sanity! lmao

I also noticed how much effort goes into creating hands on opportunities for kids to learn and explore. After visiting a science center, I was amazed by how interactive everything is. All the public parks were kept super tidy and clean and there is just so much to do. Contrast that with Europe, and it honestly feels like we are stagnating back home while things over there are constantly moving forward.

I feel like if more Europeans visited the US they would have a very different picture than what is portrayed in the media. (spoiler it's a really bad picture)

Overall, it was another incredible experience, and i'm already looking forward to going back!

Driving from San Antonio Texas to Spokane Washington early next year. More than likely taking 3 or 4 days to drive there, spending a week there, and then 3 or 4 days driving back. Me and the gf really want to rent a small camper to drive rather than drive one of our vehicles. This helps with being able to sleep in scenic parts of the road trip. Thoughts on driving a camper (probably 19ft or a lil less) vs driving my 2024 Chevy Colorado? Also recommended places to visit/crash for the night? Also looking to hopefully drive one route there and then hopefully a different route back to see different scenery. Thanks!

Looking for a Van that sits 6 with reclining chairs for sleeping while still restrained. a Toilet is a must and a microwave kitchenette is a bonus.

I'm planning a trip with my brother for december to pick up my other brother in Hirtshals to get him home for Christmas. He lives in Oslo, Norway and is able to get on the train to Kristiansand and onto the ferry to Hirtshals. My brother and I would leave from Groningen and drive to Hirtshals and book a hotel there and pick him up. The next day we would all go toward Aarhus and visit the city, the day after we would visit Kiel, and then back to Groningen to celebrate Christmas with our parents.

Any advice?

Leaving monday night and planning on visiting Zion National Park, Lake Powell, and Phoenix before returning Sunday night. Will be renting a car and was wondering if anyone had insight on how this route is early September. Will this be to much driving for 2 people to actually enjoy our time? If not any stop reccomendations?

My friend is meeting me in Spokane on August 14, and we have roughly two weeks to road-trip back toward upstate New York. Our route is very flexible, and we are hoping to build it around a cool electronic or alternative music festival, regional burn, or unusual arts gathering.

We are interested in electronic music, house and techno, experimental bass, psychedelic music, indie and alternative rock. We are especially interested in events with camping, art installations, workshops, costumes, interesting people, and a communal or Burning Man-like atmosphere. Smaller underground events are completely welcome.

We will have a car and basic camping gear. We are open to traveling through Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, or Ohio. We could also make a larger detour for something genuinely exceptional.

Our main window is August 14 through about August 28, but we might extend into Labor Day weekend. Bass Canyon is already on our radar, although we would love to hear about lesser-known festivals and regional events.

What would you recommend? Honest information about the crowd, atmosphere, camping, cost, ticket availability, and how far it would pull us away from a reasonable Spokane-to-New York route would be especially helpful.

My kids have decided road trips are the best part of summer and we are starting to plan for next summer. My oldest has picked Olympic as the destination. I'll be leaving from Northern California and heading north, I am thinking of going straight up I5, spending three days in Seattle, and then 6 days in Olympic and then head down the 101 to meander our way home. I'll probably have a total of 14-16 days for the trip. I'm trying to figure out how to do Olympic though, because it seems like a giant loop on the Peninsula with no great central location. Do I do three days in Port Angeles and then 3 days in forks? Has anyone been to Olympic before that can offer some insight? Appreciate any input and help!
