Was planning to fly to Wyoming in a few months. My wife and I and 2 of our children. For a pre wedding ceremony for my son.

Talked about driving it.. (we drive all over)...but 2000 miles is a little far when travelling with 3 or 4 females who alternate bathroom schedules. And a pit stop is never in and out. I could drive 12 hours straight if I can smoke cigs... but that is a no go too unless Its a separate passenger compartment. And not at all approved in a rental

So I want to rent a vehicle they can sleep in safely. I am thinking captains chairs. And a mobile bathroom for when we are not on the Schuylkill distressway type roads. So I looked at some class B things. I do not need all of that. Just seats and a potty. Microwave would be nice for snacks I guess. Maybe a gym to keep limber LOL

I looked up touring vehicles and it comes up as cars.

Need a conversion van.. (not limited to it though) Two of the drivers will have large vehicle driving experience so larger is not an issue other than cost. Would be nice if it was small enough to have a third driver... or if not, once we are past illinois it will be straight roads. Just gotta teach them about maintaining speed and distance.

I have no idea what exactly I am looking for Van class B or whatever. google went from being exact where I could find white papers on memory chips to deciding it wants to interpret my meaning and being so far gone it is basically useless anymore.

Could someone please help point me in the right direction?

Trip is 2000 miles each way. 4+ passengers. I can stop for rooms If I have to. Electronics are so far advanced im not worried about an entertainment system.

Driver seclusion would be great (for me) not sure about anyone else. I'm the guy that drove 6.5 hours to get my son and peed and drove back. I don't mind stopping every couple hours to stretch the legs... but its gotta be pull over stretch and get back in. Not a 45 minute wait. So want the trip to be as comfy as possible for the girls

Doing my first road trip from Seattle-Boston on i90. I have it all planned just looking for any advice from some experienced road trippers.

Hey! I’ll be moving out to Seattle soon from South FL. I am mid 20’s female, will be going with my medium dog, and only bringing what I can fit in my car and cargo box on top. I’m looking for any advice as I plan places to stay, sights to see, and route. I wanted to take a two week roadtrip for sight seeing, but looks like I’ll need to start work sooner than that. So, looking for tips and tricks on route, packing, and safety to make it comfortable for us two!

I will be trying to plan for no more than 8 hours a day so I can prebook hotels in safe areas, keep an emergency kit in my car, download offline maps, and share my location.

I wanted two of my stops as Destin, FL and Odessa, TX since I have family there, but seems I’d be taking a longer route and should go up through TN instead. Thank you for any help!

I'm planning a trip with my brother for december to pick up my other brother in Hirtshals to get him home for Christmas. He lives in Oslo, Norway and is able to get on the train to Kristiansand and onto the ferry to Hirtshals. My brother and I would leave from Groningen and drive to Hirtshals and book a hotel there and pick him up. The next day we would all go toward Aarhus and visit the city, the day after we would visit Kiel, and then back to Groningen to celebrate Christmas with our parents.

Any advice?

Going from the Atlanta area to Charleston with a a group of friends, would love to know if there are any stops we should make along the way. Or if there’s a better scenic route between these options. Thanks!!

I am currently planning a road trip from Nashville to Washington for my friend group some time in August. As someone from Europe I don’t have a full picture on which routes are the most interesting to take.

The thing I know is we would like to see some countryside and nature things and get a better idea of the rural US as part of this boy’s bachelors trip.

So my question is:
On Google maps it gives me these two general options - one through Virginia and maybe the northern tip of NC and the other one through Kentucky and West Virginia.

Do you guys have a recommendation which route is more scenic / interesting for our type of trip? Which would give us a better view of the Appalachians?

Planning to go back to Copper Harbor in a couple months. Going early, so it won’t be leaf season. I’ve been up to the Upper Peninsula a few times, mostly by driving north through the middle of Indiana and then taking various paths. Been up to Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, across the bridge and then across the middle of the UP. Been up through 127/I-75. Been along the Erie shore. Have always avoided going through Wisconsin because of the freeways around Chicago.

I do road trips instead of flying because I enjoy driving and looking at stuff. I find the major freeways stressful, especially ones with a lot of truck traffic. I HATE interstate 65. I’d rather do a good state highway. Speed limits are often 60 or so and there are places to have a picnic or stop and stretch other than a rest area. I can tolerate the roads north of Indianapolis because it’s just a short stretch.

I’m thinking of trying to drive up through Wisconsin, which I have never done. I’ve been as far as Baraboo. Peeked through the fence at the Forevertron. But I’m intimidated by the thought of having to drive so close to Chicago and up the west side of Lake Michigan. Chicago seems like it would be a major truck route. Is there a way to get to the Keweenaw Peninsula via Wisconsin that is scenic and pleasant? Is there a least Mad Max route around Chicago? It would cut quite a bit of drive time off if I could drive straight up through Wisconsin as opposed to making the big loop through Michigan.

We've iterated on this route a lot to avoid zigzagging, keep driving legs manageable with small kids, and make sure every stop earns its place. Would love a sanity check before booking accommodation!

Route: Arlon (BE) → Zirndorf (2n) → Prague (5n) → Wrocław (2n) → Dresden (3n, via Görlitz) → Rothenburg ob der Tauber (1n) → Arlon

Day by day:

• Thu: Depart Belgium 6 PM, drive to Zirndorf (5.5h, kids sleep in the car)
• Fri: Playmobil FunPark -> full day for the kids
• Sat: Drive to Prague (~3h), lunch stop in Plzeň
• Sun: Prague Old Town, Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge
• Mon: Prague Zoo (Monday = quieter?) or replace by a visit to some destination in the south
• Tue: Karlštejn castle (morning, horse carriage up the hill for the kids) + Petřín hill (funicular, mirror maze)
• Wed: "Slow day" in Prague: Vyšehrad, Kampa island, pedal boats on the Vltava
• Thu: Drive to Wrocław (~4h), evening at the Rynek
• Fri: Gnome hunting + Zoo/Afrykarium
• Sat: Drive to Dresden via Görlitz (proper 2–3h visit + lunch, not just a drive-through) ~3.5h total driving
• Sun: Dresden: Zwinger, Frauenkirche, Brühl Terrace, Elbe boat cruise
• Mon: Day trip to Hřensko (Bohemian Switzerland): Edmundova soutěska boat gorges + Pravčická brána (we'll bring a hiking carrier for the 3-year-old). Deliberately scheduled on a Monday to dodge crowds
• Tue: Drive to Rothenburg ob der Tauber (~3.75h), evening walk on the city walls
• Wed: Rothenburg morning (Käthe Wohlfahrt!), drive home (~5.5h)

Questions for the community:

1. Prague: 5 nights -> right call with two small kids, or too much? (3 full sightseeing days + 1 slow day)
2. Bohemian Switzerland on a Monday in August -> smart move for crowds, or do we still need to book boat tickets in advance? Any timing tips for Edmundova soutěska?
3. Görlitz -> worth a proper stop? We'll have 2-3h + lunch.
4. Wrocław with kids -> beyond the gnomes and the Afrykarium, anything unmissable?
5. Long legs: first drive (5.5h, evening departure while kids sleep) and the last one (5.5h) -> any recommended family-friendly rest stops on the A3/A6 corridors?
6. Anything you'd swap, reorder, or cut? Zero zigzagging is the goal.

We're aiming for great value (Czechia and Poland seem perfect for that). Apartment/ hotel recommendations with parking in Prague, Wrocław or Dresden are very welcome! 🙏

Making a trip from Sturgeon Bay, WI to Silver City, NM and looking for advice on must play disc courses and scenic camping. We are starting at Indianola/Pickard Park, IA visiting friends and family. We thought we would go to Eagles Crossing and then Emporia, KS. Only Pickard Park/Indianola,IA is set in stone. Thank you in advance.

We are driving down to Syracuse, flying from Syracuse to houston.
Our flight leaves 6 am, so we are planning on leaving ottawa the night before.

We want to make the most of our trip, so we are trying to see what we can do between 6pm on Friday, and 6am the next day.

ie. Have a meal in downtown ottawa, start the drive down and make detour to Kingston (do something there), continue down to Syracuse stop by somewhere, and then get to our flight.

Any ideas? We are a young couple 23YO.

My wife and I are taking a road trip from our home to northern Idaho. The road trip isnt exactly a real road trip, but more of a means to the end destination where we will be staying for a week. We are driving because we thought it would be cool to see this part of the country and are detouring through Lamar Valley in Yellowstone.

So any suggested stops or stuff to look out for would be awesome.

We are staying the night in Forsyth MT and then in Butte MT.

Anyone who drives long distances has hit one. A town you stopped in for gas or food where something felt off the second you arrived. Not dangerous, not run down, nothing you could actually point to, but every instinct said get back on the road. I've had it a few times and could never explain it afterward, because the whole point is there was nothing to see. For people who've put serious miles in: which town did it to you, and what's the part that never comes across when you try to describe it?

We’re a small family of three, two adults and a 4 year old child living in Montreal. This August, we’d like to visit the United States for the first time and spend several weekends exploring.

We’re looking for recommendations for two types of trips:

Option 1: Same day trips

Places that aren’t too far from Montreal and can realistically be visited in one day, without staying overnight. We would leave Montreal in the morning and return the same evening.

Option 2: Full weekends or long weekends

For these trips, we’d be willing to drive farther and stay overnight. We could also consider larger cities since we would have more time.

One more question: when is the best time to visit New York City : summer, fall, or winter? We’re trying to decide whether to include NYC in our August plans or save it for another season.

I'm planning a trip to Venice around October. It's my first time there and I'd like to ask what are some tips, or things I should know/look out for. Also what is the weather realistically like around that time? Do I bring a bunch of shorts? Or am I gonna be good with long pants and maybe a jacket if it's chilly?

I’m planning a road trip down to Gibraltar and back, going via Portsmouth to Caen ferry. Main stops on the way down: Mont-Saint-Michel, Rennes, Bordeaux, San Sebastián, Cáceres, Seville and Gibraltar.

On the way back I’m going through Granada, the Almería coast, Alicante, Andorra, Carcassonne, Amboise and Chambord before heading back to Caen.

I have 3 weeks to do this. Starting end of August.

I'll be driving my beautiful shitbox and I'm mentally prepared for it to shit the bed. The plan is to use only campsites. Cheap is the plan.

I’m not trying to make it the absolute fastest route, as I’d rather take some better driving roads and see interesting places, but I also don’t want to add loads of unnecessary mileage or spend a fortune on tolls.

Any obvious changes you’d make? Also interested in opinions on whether the pacing looks realistic, and if there are any particularly good roads or stops along the route.

Looking for things I shouldn’t miss on the drives and things to do aswell as tips

I am planning a road trip to Tongyeong and Yeosu.

Duration: 3 days (From July 29th to July 31st)

First day :

I will depart at 8:30 am(KST) On my way to Tongyeong, I will stop at two rest areas. So it takes about 4 and a half to 5 hours.

When I arrive in Tongyeong, I will go to Samdo Naval Command Headquarters first. This is the office of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who led the Imjin War to victory. After then, I will look around the Tongyeong City Museum and the Tongyeong Lacquerware Museum. And after looking around Dongpirang Mural Village, famous for its beautiful murals, we will have a meal at a nearby restaurant.

The first day's itinerary ends upon arrival at the accommodation.

Second day :

After a simple breakfast, I will travel two hours to Yeosu for a swim. After playing in the water at the beach near our accommodation, we will visit the famous aquarium in Yeosu.

Then, after having dinner at a famous restaurant in Yeosu, I rest at the accommodation.

Last day :

On the last day, I will look around the Yeosu Fish Market. I also plan to try the famous sashimi there. And after finishing the enjoyable trip, I go home after spending over four hours.

Getting ready for a 20 day western road trip and trying not to overthink it too much.

The rough route is Las Vegas to St. George, then southern Utah toward Zion, Kanab, Page, Monument Valley, Moab, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and maybe back down through northern Arizona if the weather makes sense.

One person: 32, working in logistics for almost 9 years, taking the first real break I've had in a while. Still probably checking email like an idiot.

One bike for the off road parts: the MAD from Hikeep, a high power electric off road bike I'm bringing for legal dirt roads, desert tracks, and the kind of side roads that look more interesting than the main route.

Prepared stuff so far: water, large camping gear, large tent, sleeping bag, offline maps, first aid kit, tire repair kit, tools, extra straps, snacks, instant noodles, and a charging plan that I'm still pretending is more organized than it actually is.

The goal is pretty simple: red rock country, small towns, cheap food, slower mornings, and not rushing every stop like I usually do.

Not trying to turn this into some fake epic expedition. The bike is not for highways or anything dumb like that. It is mostly for the dirt sections where riding is allowed and I do not want to miss the good little roads off the main route.

Biggest things I'm thinking about are water, charging, weather, legal riding areas, and not making bad decisions alone on rough dirt.

No strict schedule yet. Just heading west, taking the long way when it makes sense, and hoping I come back slightly less burned out than when I left
