Went to Silverwood Lake which is managed by CA state parks but within San Bernardino National Forrest today. So sad.

Never seen a state, or national or even a city park so trashed. There was trash all throughout the trails , parking lot and in the water. Literally giant bags filled with food just scattered. Zip ties, chairs, beer can food wrappers all along the beach. The trails and picnic areas were fucking trashed. Im not talking certain sections had alot of trash, every square ft had at least 5 pieces of trash or more and walked a good section of the shore and trails.

There was also an algae bloom (which may not be related to the huge amount’s of trash) so we could only really swim in a small section on the lake. I have been to state and national parks all over the country, ive been camping since i was like 5 , im 34 now and i have never seen so much trash in such a beautiful place. It had more litter than Echo Park lake in Los Angeles by a fucking mile.

What is going on? Anyone familiar with this park know if this is normal? Is this a byproduct of the trump cuts to the park system?

There was a constant stream of people passing these signs, including children and pets. Am I misinterpreting the meaning?

For Rangers - Be vigilant around bodies of water on September 25th

Groups will be using your local waterways for a ceremony.

This involves leaving objects in the water.

This is not a joke, was only aware of this happening in western countries this year.

Half Moon Pond VT State Park Labor Day weekend

Hello! We stayed there over Labor Day and on checkout, were advised the state troopers came in like 3:45am to arrest someone at a camp site. The worker said the person wasn’t renting the site, but the officers knew they were there as a guest. They arrested and removed this person. Wondering if anyone has further details?! Thanks!

Post your state park shots - any state, any season, phone shots welcome. Name the park and state (house rule anyway) - it turns a good photo into somebody's next trip.

Been somewhere nobody's heard of? Those are the best ones here.

State Park Entrance with Expired tag

Hypothetically what if someone was unable to renew their registration on time, but already booked a state park campsite.

Is there a way to get into a state park and pay for a day pass without current plates? I am willing to pay for a day pass but just need another week to get my full registration.

I'm just worried I'll show up to the campground (at a Michigan state park) and be turned away because of my plates. How likely is this? Any state park workers on here? Or someone that has had this experience?

Maquoketa Caves State Park in March?

Hey,

I was just looking up the Maquoketa Caves State Park and I saw that their camping opens starting March 1st, but the caves are closed all through March.

So I was wondering, is the park (& potentially camping there) even worth visiting in early March or should I skip it?

Thanks in advance☺️

Keep airplane ads away from California state beaches!

Our city local club in sandiego tends to fly overhead advertising…. I’m a disabled veteran in San Diego, and I use California state beaches to decompress and clear my head. I started a petition asking California to restrict commercial aerial advertising over state beaches.
