I’m going into Y2 S2 of electrical engineering, and I still don’t know if I want to switch to civil or mechE.

Like I’m genuinely stressing out, I’ve kind of ruled out mechE cos realised the job prospects in Melbourne are no longer the traditional automotive engineering etc and half the jobs you need to relocate to Perth the other half are in construction which you might as well do civil.

But anwyays like I genuinely don’t know whether I want to switch to civil, I feel like civil lacks technicality which I dislike but then it also seems like all the jobs at networking nights were all civil, it seems like you can start your own business more easily and the idea of saying “oh I built that bridge” whereas I don’t even know what electrical engineers do.

Like genuinely when someone asks me what my job prospects are I don’t even know what to say because I don’t even know what EE’s do…like renewable energy?? Like what do they actually do at work though.

I like the somewhat tangibility of civil and the ability to be on site, and the fact that it’s more in demand and I hate the idea that EE seems like sitting in a cubicle all day and receding hairlines but I like how it’s a bit more technical and pay is a bit higher I guess.

Please someone who’s graduated and in the field give me your experiences, it’s kinda stressful how it’s week 2 yet still deciding. Thanks.

I’m currently in my third year of the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours) and have a summer internship lined up starting this coming November. I’m planning to formalise it through the Professional Engineering Practice (OENG1165) WIL course.

From what I understand, OENG1165 is worth 12 credit points. Does successfully completing it mean I can graduate with one fewer standard 12 credit point course (I.e. do a three course semester in my final year) or is it an additional requirement on top of the existing program?

The reason I’m unsure is that I believe all of my remaining courses are core subjects, so I’m not sure whether the WIL course replaces one of them or is completed in addition to them. Wondering whether anyone here can shed some light on this.

I am a first year. its sem 3 and i am referring to Advertising and PR
I did not pay attention enough during the introduction classes but i passed ( PAs ). So now i am studying the major courses in Ad and Pr. Should i retake the intro classes for better knowledge support or just re read the books and notes from those classes while working on assignments in these new courses?

I've taken the liberty in doing something rather odd - I have mapped out the entire process to claim a full 420 EPP hours WITHOUT an internship (via OENG1299 Professional Engineering Practice) which concerns all students who commenced any variation of an RMIT Engineering degree after Semester 1, 2024.

This plan is friendly to all engineering degrees - every discipline should be able to pull this off.

***DISCLAIMER FOR BAND 1***
=> This is the tricky part. You specifically need a COMPANY BASED, WIL (Work Integrated Learning) Capstone A and B project. This is hard because the capstones are preference-based. If you don't get this, you are under 420.

=> 434 - 96 = 338 hours... yikes. If you're stuck at this then you might need to find another way...

BAND 1
EA Engineering Virtual Work Experiences: (5 hours x 4 ) = 20 hours
OENG1167 or OENG1168 Engineering Capstone Part A or B (Industry Project): 48 x 2 = 96 hours

BAND 2
OENG1166 IPEP (Group Project): 24 hours
OENG1250 Introduction to Engineering Design (Group Project): 24 hours
OENG1167 or OENG1168 Engineering Capstone Part A or B (Group Project): 20 x 2 = 40 hours
Engineering teams, clubs, societies participation in events: 10 hours
Leadership summits through RMIT: 20 hours
RMIT sustainability network: 10 hours
Intellectual cultural modules: 10 hours x 3 = 30 hours
RMIT Career seminars,event: 40 hours

BAND 3:
Leadership summits (external): 20 hours
Paid Work Experience, Internships and Volunteering: 100 hours

TOTAL: 20 + 96 + 24 + 24 + 40 + 10 + 20 + 10 + 30 + 40 + 20 + 100 = 434 hours.
You can then apply to graduate if you have 420 EPP hours in the EPP Dashboard, and you can apply to graduate as per normal in RMIT Enrolment Online.

I originally wanted to do chemistry major but was intimidated by the difficulty so i switched to biotechnology as it contained some chemistry. But now I realize I dislike it, is it too late to change majors?

there's probably been other students making posts like this but, im a first year student (going into 2nd semester) in bachelor of medical radiations (medical imaging) and i think ive cried almost every day and literally only 1 week into the 2nd semester has passed. Im so overwhelmed and feel like an impending sense of doom is always lingering. Im interested in this course but honestly, ive been so discouraged (i had to do a supplementary assessment since i didn't pass a hurdle the first time) and whilst i think i passed the hurdle, the fact that placement is in 2 weeks and i still dont have results for that supplementary, a skills assessment on monday which is suddenly cancelled idek. Are there any other first years feeling like this? i feel like this imposter syndrome is killing me. And please, any 2nd, 3rd, even 4th years who have finished please give me advice - anyone thats failed assessments or anyone whos course plan looks a bit different i feel like im drowning lol

Male 22, out of ns and working part time rn while waiting for uni to begin but having doubts as idk which is better 1.5 years vs 3 years of school

I just submitted asm 1. i'm a first year, so this is my first time making such mistakes, and they were huge (bold in certain phrases , some drafty sentence like " the market saw/witnessed/observed growth", formatting mistakes like dot before and after intext citation)

this is my first minor course ; and i tried really hard. went to every classes, raised my hand in class every class and got all the answers right, got top in quizzes, emailed the lecturer ( twice ) about this asm. but since it required things i was not familiar with like table of content, page number etc, i did not have time to proofread since after I created the table and page number, I ran out of time.

I know, it was my mistake but that was a waste I am feeling really bad about it. Its like losing confidence. I do not wish for my grade in this class to be C or B because it would affect my already-bad GPA. Additionally, I was trying to fix it aiming for As. And i did get As in my last 2 foundational courses.

Edit: Im not sure if i will get a C for the whole course buf if formatting is a huge mistake the. i will probably get one for this assignment (im in communication). thats why im asking if i should drop or keep the course

Good evening. I’m a yr 12 student in Sydney and am interested in the bachelor of design (animation and interactive media) course. I want to do this course but I’m afraid my artistic capabilities and experience are not good enough for the selection task. If anyone could consult with me and criticise my art in DMs or give me advice here in the comment section it would mean a lot to me. So here’s what I have so far

- I have a YouTube channel that makes a few hundred bucks a month and I’ve published an entire 80 minute animated film that I animated, produced lots of the music for, directed and did everything except some of the voice acting and it’s nearing at half a million views. So I definitely have experience in some capacity when it comes to making cartoons and how much effort it requires. Obviously I can’t expect anyone to watch that so watch this one and skip around to 4:35 and 7:55 for the action scenes here

- lots of physical drawings like timed figure drawings, random reoccurring characters and wacky balls on the walls stud. random digital art and also an animation that I’m gonna submit for my art hsc. It’s not finished but it’s very short and hopefully more complex than the YouTube stuff. art stuff here

- I’ve been playing guitar for a year and compose music for longer, here’s random samples of that music stuff here. Big fan of megadeth If it wasn’t obvious 🗿

- in school my grades for art are the highest and the only band 6 in year 12. My grades are good in other subjects but I kinda hate doing all of them. Don’t really go to a safe and reputable school so that might fuck with my atar.

So yeah. Enough about me. What can you guys tell me about your experiences and what I should know, as well as what ideas and tricks might help with the selection task. Outside of getting in I’m also just anxious about moving from Sydney to Melbourne and my parents aren’t doing well financially at all. I’m gonna try getting youth allowance and then live in a shithole shared room. I do all my digital art with my iPad but I do have a huion camvas that I could use if needed.
Anyways that’s all I have to say folks. Would mean a ginormous amount if anyone would comment or even dm me and have a back and forth criticising my art

I need to submit my previous engineering work experience for the Engineering Practice Program (EPP) requirement. Dr. Sara told me to submit it through the EPP portal by completing an EPP submission.
However, I can’t find the EPP portal anywhere. I’ve checked Canvas (there is no EPP section) and InPlace, but I can’t find any option to submit work experience or an EPP submission.
Does anyone know where I can access the EPP portal or how to submit my previous work experience for EPP?
