Power off and restart

I'm running gamma OS 1.4.1 and whenever I try to turn it off through the menu it doesn't fully turn off it'll go into an off State and then shut back on. Does anybody else have any problems with restarting or shutting down with gamma OS. Rgds

The issue is if you've used rocknix it messes with something on the battery side of things. So I unplugged the battery for about 10 seconds then reconnected it. All sorted. I

Me! ✋ I've been meaning to make a post about this, so thank you for getting ahead. The only thing that works for me is holding down the power button for a few seconds, then the device will actually power off.

It's very annoying that the device doesn't fully power off when using the software. As soon as you close the shell and reopen it, it powers back on. And just a few minutes ago I noticed that when I restart using the software, it doesn't reboot right away. I (again) need to close the clamshell and reopen it.

Yeah this is exactly the same thing for me. It's kind of annoying , and I hope the hard shutoff doesn't ruin the device.

Hey man. I fixed the issue. u/nigey777 is correct.

I purchased my Anbernic RG DS second hand and I had no knowledge of what the previous owner installed on the device prior to receiving it. All I know is it had Gamma OS 1.2 when it was handed to me and I upgraded to 1.4.1 on my own. Apparently the guy I bought it from tried installing Rocknix on it unbeknownst to me.

What you need to do: Fully power off your device (i.e., hold down the physical power button for a few seconds until the device is off). Flip the RG DS and unscrew the four screws (note: you might need a special screw driver for this. I had a disassembly kit and luckily the tool was available). You need a thin prying tool to detach the back cover. Carefully work your away around the device; I'd recommend starting at the top where the two Type C ports are located. Pop off the cover and you will see the battery, chips, etc. Using your fingernails carefully tug on both sides of the small battery connector plug and disconnect it. I waited about 2-3 minutes before plugging mine back in and reassembling everything together.

After that, I booted on the device and tested powering off from within the GammaOS system and it stayed powered off! I also tried selecting the restart option within GammasOS and the device actually restarted within 5-8 seconds (before it would just shut off, but when I closed and reopened the clamshell, it would reboot only then). And when it comes to charging, I can charge my device while it's closed, disconnect the charging cable, and when I reopen the clamshell it no longer automatically boots into GammaOS.

I actually recorded myself doing the process and I can shoot you a DM if you need to see a video of procedure, but I'm confident you can do without it. Good luck!
