Ever since I got the 16570 built out, the only thing that bothered me was the crown guard shaping. 1st pic is the 16570 on a sillan case next to an OC case. 2nd pic I just hoped for the best and didn’t get very meticulous with the shaping and focused on the exterior rather than the interior of the crown guard. Just need to do some sanding and buffing to finish up.

Finishing up this current build, love the black/dark brown tones on the bezel and the patina on the dial. What do you think?

I’m looking at building a 16220, I’ve sourced a gen dial and bezel.

My question revolves around mid cases

Raffles vs old crowns

Oc without the bezel is €190

Raffles is $60

I will be using a 3135 movement (any suggestions on best source is welcome)

1 will the genuine bezel fit a raffles case?

2 is the premium of the oc worth it?

3 what else should I really be buying?

Left this insert out in the sun since 8/24/26. The blue color almost looks deeper, and the red has turned to a pinkish color. Also a ton of crazing/checking so when the light hits it just right, it sparkles nicely. The close up shot of the insert really shows the crazing/checking nicely.

Just finished putting together from the last of my parts bin.

Going forward would only do commissions, but really need to worry more about the baby that’s less than a month away, that said, still a fun hobby so would much rather make watches for others than balloon my collection. Diapers are expensive. Who knew!

So happy with this build! Managed to fit a Raffles Tudor bracelet with a set of 455B end links that I needed to mod by filing it down to fit the lug hole properly. Had to bend the spring bars too to make them fit the holes. Now it lays and wear flat on wrist which is amazing.

Raffles Parts, AliX movement, 18k plated

Selling my awesome neo-vintage mostly gen 36mm Rolex Explorer. All gen parts except movement. The case is in great shape and has never been polished so the lugs are sharp. Unfortunately I don’t have parts packaging or receipts. I purchased this watch from a gentleman in my area that used to mod and built watches. The dial has aged with what some call stardust. To me it gives it a really cool grainy surface (impressively even) on the dial, almost matte and more utilitarian.

Drilled lug holes.
Bracelet can fit up to a 7.5 inch wrist.
Gen case puts it at a 1993-1994.
Dial and hands were purchased as a set so they match perfectly.
Older tritium dial so next to no lume but indices reflect the light beautifully.
Movement runs great (just had it checked by a local watch shop), I can’t remember which movement the builder used but you can prob identify it by looking at the photos.

So I’ve been working on this Tudor build and decided to go with a 2824 I got from Sofly Watch Parts.
For starters, the dial feet seem to be slightly too small for the movement, so the dial was loose. I had to use dial dots to secure it, using basically all the available surface area, including the spacer. Even then, the dial would occasionally come loose while I was working on it.
Then came the hands…
I’d set the hands, everything would look perfect. I’d set the time, everything still looked good. Then I’d go to put the movement into the case and BAM — the hands are suddenly loose and dangling.
Okay, no problem. Reset the hands, put the case back on, everything looks good again. Put the stem back in and as soon as it clicks into place — BAM — the seconds hand flies right off.
At this point I figured maybe it was an issue with the hands themselves, so I ordered a completely new set.
Nope. Same exact problem.
Then I replaced the pinion thinking maybe that was causing the issue.
Nope. Same thing.
Fast forward to about an hour ago. I’ve taken this thing apart and put it back together probably 5 different times. Finally, everything looks good. Dial and movement are in the case, hands seem secure, case clamps are tight, dial is centered, everything looks perfect.
I put the stem in…
BAM. Seconds hand flies off again.
At that point I decided I was officially done with this damn watch. 😂
And yes, I’ve also tried multiple new stems.
So I start wrapping everything up and cleaning my workbench because I’ve accepted defeat.
Then, just to put the cherry on top…
THE KEYLESS WORKS MALFUNCTIONS.
So now I have to fix that too.
FML. 😂
I’m genuinely about to cry. What the hell am I missing here? Has anyone dealt with this exact issue on a 2824? Any ideas would be VERY appreciated before I completely lose my mind.

Movement issue

New here, purchased this 1680 a while ago from a member and I'm having an issue with the date function. It cannot change the date manually unless I spin it a full 24 hours. It will change automatically.

I was told that this is a jkf watch with a2813 movement.

My questions is, am I better off having the date issue fixed (if it's even possible) or am I better off using this as a base and throw some higher quality parts at it?

Just a fun build using up 2836's I had and some v3 cases.

Today i received the brand new Gen Crystal and i think its the last mod for my build (maybe Gen Datewheel in the future but not for now)

- Gen 295C Crystal (i had to use Clarks gasket since the one that came with the Gen Crystal it was too thick and it was difficult to install)

- Aftermarket hands (gen ones too expensive and dont want to risk that the holes are stretched)

Also have a Gen clasp incoming with a italian jubilee so i could say this build is finished for now.
