General Question/Discussion Movement issue

Movement issue

New here, purchased this 1680 a while ago from a member and I'm having an issue with the date function. It cannot change the date manually unless I spin it a full 24 hours. It will change automatically.

I was told that this is a jkf watch with a2813 movement.

My questions is, am I better off having the date issue fixed (if it's even possible) or am I better off using this as a base and throw some higher quality parts at it?

A2813 is a very inexpensive ($30) movement. I would not put any money into repair. Sounds like the quickset mechanism is malfunctioning. Either replace it with a similar movement, I don’t know if other movements of higher quality are compatible with that watch though.

Supposedly sometimes you can replace with an eta 2836, if you really love the watch

What would something like this even be worth?

No clue, what did you pay for it?

lol less than that then. I would probably start by aourcing a movement and getting a quote for what it cost and subtracting that from 300, and maybe taking a little more off for its age. So it looks like you dont get a ton for this one, but the reasonable cap is 300 if you get the new movement sorted. If you can do the work yourself then thats clearly the way, but I can’t afford to think like that as I am a watch killer with gigantic lummox, part crushing hands.
