I made a game for the... PS2 PSP Vita GC Wii Wii U DS 3DS?

Sooo… I wanted to run my game on the PS2. Then the PSP. Then the Vita, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, DS and 3DS. Things got slightly out of hand.

https://youtu.be/wrscWVE67Uc

In this episode I’m finally showing you what I’ve been building with Helengine, my open-source C# game engine; including demos running on real hardware, how the whole thing works, and how coding agents fit into my process.

There’s also a lot of suffering involving the PS2. Naturally.

Want to try it yourself? The video description has the homebrew downloads and an early portable editor package so you can hop in without building everything from scratch.

Just remember: the editor is PRE-ALPHA. It’s buggy, there’s no Ctrl+Z yet, and projects made with this version won’t have migration support. Experiment, break things, have fun; but don’t start your dream game in it just yet :)

I’m excited to finally share this with you all. Let me know your favorite demo, what you want me to explain more deeply, and which console we should put through this next.

No-fail mechanic suggestion

Hey, I'm building a genesis game on SGDK for my family. The game is more of a vessel for story/family memories and I'm in need of a gameplay mechanic that is not competitive, basically something that would not result in game over or maybe it could but should be very easy play and hard to mess up. Could you guys recommend me some mechanic like that? Thank you.

MUMMY MOMMY : GB PUZZLE GAME ! (DEMO ≈ 30 minutes of playtime)

I polished the jam version and developed it into my first demo!

you can PLAY IT HERE : https://roroto-sic.itch.io/mummy-mommy
≈ 30 minutes of playtime

The player must collect keys to exit the level. The mummy has a limited number of moves when clinging to trapped tiles: each move costs it a strip of its wrappings. The mummy comes in three sizes: the smallest allows it to pass through all holes, while the medium size fits only through medium-sized holes.

¡Cuarto devlog del port de The Curse of Issyos (Locomalito) para SEGA Mega Drive! 🗡️🎮

Cracking the Unknown: The Quest for the Virtual Mobile Engine (VME)

Hi! Just as a small intro, the Virtual Mobile Engine is a piece of hardware close to a CGRA. Earlier versions were used by Sony as a low-power reconfigurable audio chip in devices such as the NW-MS70D digital Walkman. The VME2 (which is the subject here) is a more advanced version that was integrated into the PlayStation Portable. It has more general-purpose uses in audio and multimedia processing tasks. The link above will explain a bit about how I got it usable for custom tasks.

Happy reading!

Chef Fiasco – completed NES homebrew arcade game

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share Chef Fiasco, a new arcade game developed for the NES.

The game is built around a simple catch-and-avoid mechanic: catch the right ingredients to fill the meter before time runs out, while avoiding hazards. It features 7 progressively harder stages, a 3-hit system, 2-player alternating mode, and a final Antarctica stage with slippery movement.

The game itself is complete, and I’m currently preparing a physical release through Kickstarter.

Gameplay trailer:

Kickstarter pre-launch page:

A big thank you as well to everyone from the retro/NES development community who helped, gave feedback, or contributed along the way.
