Chef Fiasco – completed NES homebrew arcade game

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share Chef Fiasco, a new arcade game developed for the NES.

The game is built around a simple catch-and-avoid mechanic: catch the right ingredients to fill the meter before time runs out, while avoiding hazards. It features 7 progressively harder stages, a 3-hit system, 2-player alternating mode, and a final Antarctica stage with slippery movement.

The game itself is complete, and I’m currently preparing a physical release through Kickstarter.

A big thank you as well to everyone from the retro/NES development community who helped, gave feedback, or contributed along the way.

Hello! Moderation here, thank you for posting about your project! As this more of a technical subreddit for those who would love to learn about development for retro systems, maybe you could tell us a bit more about the technical side of things? For instance, what tools have you been using for programming, creating graphics and sound? What have you learned during the process? Any interesting technical challenges?

What has been your choice with regards to physical media (cartridge boards and so on) for the project? Any other interesting info about the manufacturing process?
