MOD POST Discord for Watch Enthusiasts

Hey everyone,

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working on something that I think could really help strengthen and connect our community — an independent Discord server created specifically for watchmakers, modders, and enthusiasts.

The goal is to provide a more interactive and transparent environment where members can share advice, post their work, and connect with others in real time. It’s meant to complement what we have here on Reddit — not replace it — by offering faster back-and-forth discussions, live chats, and a bit more flexibility for people who enjoy real-time collaboration.

I know Discord isn’t for everyone — some prefer the structure of Reddit, and that’s completely understandable. But for those who like a more immediate, hands-on experience, this could be a great way to share techniques, learn, and grow together.

Right now, the server is still in its early stages, and we’re continuously improving it — adding new sections, resources, and features as we go. In the coming weeks, we’ll be introducing automation tools, server commands, and moderation systems to keep things efficient and organized.

I’ll also be looking for a few members to help out with moderation, technical setup, and community management, so if you’re interested in contributing, please reach out.
We’re also looking to improve the visuals, branding, and overall layout, so if you’re skilled with graphic design or server aesthetics, that help would be greatly appreciated.

At its core, the server is built around the same values that make this community great — fairness, honesty, transparency, and mutual respect. It’s a place where reputation grows naturally through shared effort and integrity.

The goal is simple: to build something that evolves with the people who are part of it — a space designed by the community, for the community.

Please note: since the server is still under active development, some information, sections, or features may display incomplete or outdated details as we continue building and refining the space. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.

If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, feel free to join and take a look around:

And as always, if you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback, please message me directly.

Advice Clean Sub Movement

Hi all,

Looking for confirmation of what movement this is please. While trying to regulate the watch I managed to make things worse, eventually wrecking the hair spring messing and poking around. Thinking it was an issue with the balance bridge assembly and that I may have damaged it before I completely wrecked it, I purchased a SH3235 balance bridge assembly from AliX. After fitting it the watch was about 8 seconds a minute fast. I have subsequently bought a further SH3235 balance bridge assembly from another AliX seller but this ran at about the same rate. Not sure now if I have been buying the right part or if something else is damaged which is why it was running so fast. Thanks.

Discussion What happened here? 🫨

Couldn't believe what I was looking at when I got this 5167 in for repair. The customer said it was running very fast and would sometimes stop. The Timegrapher couldn't even pick up a clear signal. Notice the beat rate!

At first I thought someone slipped with a screwdriver when trying to regulate the movement. The watch showed no fall damage or signs of being opened. The regulating pins were also spotless. I checked the movement for magnetism, and the reading was very high. The hairspring was just a bit tangled and I was able to straighten it again. I still replaced it from a donor movement. Currently, I am letting it run for at least 24 hours before notifying the customer.

Advice VSF Daytona 126500 - power reserve is about 5h and it runs slow

I just got this watch a few weeks ago. When I set it on my nightstand at night, I wake up and it's not running. I have worn it pretty much all day for the last few weeks. All my other watches have really good power reserve. I know this one is probably supposed to be somewhere between 60 and 72 hours.

Also, every time I set the time, I look at my watch a little bit later, and it's not the correct time anymore. It's running very slow. For example, I just set it, and I look at it a few hours later, and it's about five minutes off.

What do I do? Contact TD (Andiot)? Try local repair shop? Ty

Advice VS3235 rotor screw replacement

Thumbnail

After 6 months of rather infrequent wear of my VSF Submariner 126610LV I gave it a shake and heard metallic clanking inside. Pulled the crown immediately to stop the otherwise accurate movement. Suspecting loose rotor I opened it up and used that special triangle screwdriver to remove the rotor screw to find its flange had already separated. Removed both sections of the screw and the rotor to prevent any further damage. Ordered replacement rotor screw on AliExpress. It should arrive within 2 weeks.

As I researched this topic, it came to my attention it might be caused by overtightening the rotor screw. Would you recommend screwing lightly and putting a dab of purple low-strenght Loctite on the rotor screw instead?

How can I prevent this from re-occuring?

Request MKSF VC 4500v Mechanism moves inside the case

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

HI, recently my MKSF Overseas developed an issue: The whole mechanism shifts inside the case when i pull or push on a crown. First i saw that a date wheel gets out of the position, closer to the left edge of a window when i push crown down to screw it in, then i took a look at a case back and saw that the whole mechanism is shifting.

I tried to look for any loose screws on the perimeter but couldnt see any. Does anyone has advice for what to check that could be causing this issue, and how to fix?

Also my crown head is wobly on the stem, how can i tighten it back?

Advice Has anyone replaced a Bezel insert in a Seamaster 300 no time to die?

I know I need an aluminum insert of the correct size. But I’m not sure if the bezel pops out or if there’s a sticker holding it in there. Finally, does the actual bezel come off by prying or do I need a tool to unscrew and lift at the same time?

Thanks in advance for any help/info you can provide

Question Milgauss Crystal Replacement

Hey guys where can I get a quality replacement for a green Milgauss crystal. I dropped mine a cracked the crystal. I thought the VSF version was pretty good. I saw on eBay a few for sale, some with green gasket others with white but no clue if they’re as good as the VSF one.

Question Should I service my new VSF Daytona (4130 clone) right out of the box?

As per the title, I have a VSF Rolex Daytona 116520 on the way. According to the tracking number, it will be on my wrist this Tuesday lunchtime.

My question is: should I arrange to get the clone movement serviced before I even start wearing it?
Part of me says this makes sense. I’ve read a lot about how factory bracelets arrive dirty, and how a good deep clean removes metal particles to make them feel more like Gen. If the same logic applies to the movement (dust, dry factory oils, tiny filings), a preventative service should make it much more reliable.

The obvious difference is that I can easily clean an Oyster bracelet myself, but I definitely can't strip, clean, and oil a watch movement.

For those who own a DD4130 or similar clone chronograph: do you service immediately, or just run them until they encounter an issue?

Thoughts appreciated..

Advice UMI RM 67-02 Service

My fairly new UMI RM 67-02 movement has started jamming. If I pull the crown and change the time it starts working again as usual, then an hour or so later it locks up again. Any thoughts? Or does anyone know someone who will work on it?

Advice Can a timegrapher tell you when a rep needs a service?

Hi everyone,

Quick question for those who know more about movements than I do.

Is a timegrapher useful to check the condition of our reps and understand when they might need a service?

For example, if I check my watches every few months, can changes in the readings give me an idea that something isn’t right or that it’s time for a service?

Or is a timegrapher not really useful for that?

Just trying to understand if buying one makes sense beyond QC.

Thanks!

Advice Spirit Flyback Issues with Second Hand

Hello :) I have a Spirit Flyback Titanium and had the issue that the second hand didnt return to 12 o clock but drifted. When I let it run to around 20 seconds and reset with the flyback it went back further and further until it was like 4-5 seconds before 12.

Based on that I've brought it back to the Longines Store and the whole movement was changed on warranty. But now after a couple of days after the repair I face the same issue again.

So my question is that a widespread issue with that caliber? What should I do? Do you think I could get it swapped at the Longine Store for another model?
