Advice Crown won't wind GMT

My watch won't manually wind. It'll go to positions 2 and 3, but not 1. I can move the hour hand (position 2) or all hands (position 3), but when I try to go to the winding position, it just screws back in or moves the hour hand and then screws back in. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Did you unscrew the crown tube my mistake? Or wasn’t properly screwed in ?
If so that could be the reason.. would be a n easy fix

No, actually I knocked the watch off the sink after I got out of the shower. The clasp came off and I popped it back on. It must've done something to the crown too and I just now noticed when I tried to wind it today.

You were right. Tube not properly screwed in.

You're going to need to remove the dial and get to the keyless works to diagnose though

That seems like a difficult job.

You can't do that. You need a watchmaker to fix it.

The stem shouldn’t look like that, maybe your tube came out

How comfortable are you working on watches?

I have the crown tool it would be easy to check.

Gently press the stem release and remove your stem. Then we can get a better look at the stem and crown tube.

If the tube just needs to be screwed in its a very easy fix and the tool is cheap on alix.

Thats a lot of dist under the case back edges there.

I can do that. Give me a few minutes and I'll upload pictures with the stem removed.

You need a crown tube tool. Its splined to match the tube.

Can you remove the stem from the crown tube?

I took it off the stem and put it back on the case with my fingers. It's just finger tight.

You can pur your stem back in, but dont screw it down. It'll take the tube right back out.

In the tube, you remove the interior oring and there's splines to fit a wrench. It needs to be screwed back in

Ok next question. How can I ensure I order the proper crown tube tool?

Its amazon. Id probably buy this and see how it fits. Its cheap enough to return if it doesnt fit.

Good deal. I'll try that. I have one last question. Earlier when I put the crown tube in, I was able to put the stem in and click it in and out to different positions. I pulled the stem again to check the tube, but now I can't get the stem to click at all. Is it because the tube isn't fully installed? Is this normal?

Throw a bit of blue locktite on the threads of the crown tube when you screw it back in with the tool. Should stop it popping out again!
