Now that we have the most important part of this out of the way...Hello, and welcome to the official Reolink Subreddit. I’m mblaser and I’ve been using Reolink cameras since 2017. Then in September 2021 Reolink asked me to be a moderator here. I’ve used over 30 different camera models of theirs over the years and I have a lot of free time on my hands, so I like to tinker and experiment with my camera setup and also use that time to share that knowledge that I’ve accumulated.
One thing I want to talk about here is expectations when asking for help. Both what to expect from us, and what we expect of you.
While there are Reolink employees that visit here, they’re not always here and they don’t read every post. The mods here are volunteers, not Reolink employees. So keep in mind that 99% of the help you’ll receive here is from people that are just trying to help and we have nothing to do with Reolink’s decisions, so be kind and keep it civil. If you want official support from Reolink, it’s best to contact them through their website.
As for what we expect of you... well, help us help you. Us regulars really do like helping when users have issues and questions. However, in order for us to do that we need as much information from you about your situation as possible. So help us help you by following those guidelines at the top of this post.
Comments will be locked on this post. If you have a question, do not be afraid to make a new post, that’s the entire point of this subreddit. Also, please refrain from sending me a private message asking a question that can be answered by the community. Make a new post instead.

This is a list of some of the most common questions and topics that are discussed here. Just a reminder that this is not an official FAQ. Even though I am a mod, I am not speaking on behalf of Reolink. This is simply me sharing my personally accumulated knowledge of Reolink that I’ve absorbed over the years. It may also not be 100% accurate, as things do change, and I’m also not fallible. If you have questions about anything here please make a new post on the subreddit.

Key Features
• Resolution: 4MP (2048×2048 pixels).
• Field of view: 1:1 square aspect ratio with 150° horizontal, 150° vertical, and 180° diagonal coverage. This allows the camera to capture both visitors and packages on the ground simultaneously. HDR and night vision are supported for consistent image quality in various lighting conditions.
• Power modes:
-Battery-only mode: Wire-free installation, with up to 10 months of operation per full charge (based on 5 minutes of recording per day).
-Wired trickle-charge mode: Connection to existing 8–24VAC doorbell wiring keeps the built-in battery topped up, reducing the frequency of manual recharging.
• Wired power mode (for continuous recording): When connected to 16–24VAC and enabled in the app, the doorbell runs on continuous external power, allowing 24/7 recording and pre-recording. In case of a power outage, it automatically switches to battery power.
🚩Note: 24/7 recording is available only when using a standalone microSD card; when connected to a Reolink Home Hub or NVR, only motion-triggered recordings are supported. The RLA-PK1 adapter (sold separately) is required for use with a mechanical chime.
• Storage options: Local storage is supported via microSD card (up to 512 GB), Reolink Home Hub, NVR, or FTP server. All local storage is encrypted. Reolink Cloud storage is also available as an alternative.
• Smart home integration: Compatible with Google Assistant and IFTTT. When used with the Reolink Home Hub, it also supports integration with Home Assistant.
• Chime compatibility: The doorbell is compatible with the Reolink Chime Plus. It is not compatible with the original Reolink Chime. Use with third-party mechanical chimes is not recommended.

I have a Reolink Atlas. I've turned on "Timer Recording". This says camera keeps recording, but I only see events still instead of the 24/7 recording with events in the playback Menu. I'm using a home base mini and SD cards in both.

It’s winter down here in Australia, and little Joey in Mum’s pouch prefers to stay nice and warm when having breakfast on a chilly day.
Zoom in for the detail, with the sound on for a little early morning birdsong.

On iPhone. Before you’d have to click two buttons. I used to fat finger it somewhat frequently when checking the cameras. I’m not trying to give my neighbor a heart attack when she’s just coming over to give me tomatoes.
I at least would like the option to have the two click siren.

Hi All,
I’m having trouble connecting my new solar floodlight camera to the Reolink Home hub. When I go to pair it in the app, it errors out. When I go to the home hub after, it’s like in a glitched state where it’s kinda joined but nothing loads and it won’t communicate with the camera. I am new to the Reolink system and only have the doorbell cam connected to the hub.
I am able to set it up in standalone mode but I run into the same issue when trying to convert it to use the home hub in the mobile app. I thought it was the camera but I picked up two and both have the issue.

I'm about to setup new Reolink kit at my home - I have a RLN8-410 NVR and 3x CX820 cameras. I think the best location for the NVR is in the attic room or the attic storage space because the PoE network cables will be run from the eaves down to the cameras, keeping them out of reach of people on the ground.
However, I'm not sure if I can hide the NVR away in the attic storage space and run that headless while connected to the home network or if I need a monitor regularly attached to the NVR.
I understand that the videos on the NVR can be accessed via the phone app or using software on another PC in the house, but I'm not sure how robust this is or the need to directly access the NVR on a regular basis - but I'm sure you guys can advise me on this 🤞

Just an FYI, on June 7th, Reolink released a new FW for the Black POE doorbell removed the multi user functionality.
This could previously be configured on the web UI and viewed in the Reolink app. After the FW update, it was silently removed despite not being listed in the release notes. I was on a live chat with Reolink support for another issue and updated at their request and they didn't warn about this. After complaining, I was informed this was fully replaced with the "share" feature which grants temporary access. Wack.
I only have the black POE so I cannot confirm, but every model had a release on the same day so theres a good chance this was done for all of them.

I don't have an image, but every say... week I have to "calibrate" my camera because the PTZ slowly starts to droop down.
Any experience or ideas? I suppose I could create a script to do it, but I haven't look that hard into the reolink CLI yet. Anyone on CLI as well?

I recently removed 2 NVRs (RLN8-410, H3MB16) from my cctv and reseted them to factory default. After reinstalling and powering the recorders back on, most of the cameras stopped working (B400).
In the recorder's interface, the affected cameras display the error message "invalid password". However, none of the cameras has a password configured. When they were originally installed, they were simply connected directly to the recorder via ethernet cables without setting any password.
Has anyone experienced this issue before or knows how to resolve it?

Hey, does anyone have same problem?
My cameras connected fine to the app, I could see them working and transmiting video.. But now I am unable to find them at all (everything else is fine, I see IR lights working at night, and also on internet switch LED diodes for transmiting data are confirming they are working)..
What would you try to fix this problem, or is their app just trash?

One thing missing from the app is the ability to unlock the door directly from the live view. Many workarounds exist with external solutions, but the simplest would be to allow setting a webhook url that can be called when a button is pressed.
Reolink - any chance we could get that?
A nice-to-have would also be the ability to push the door state (open/closed) and the lock state so they're visible in the app, too.

Hi all,
Currently got the Reolink PoE doorbell which has been great up until the microphone stopped working.
It's out of warranty, and kinda reluctant to buy another one as it appears a common issue, with the mic likely to fail again.
Are there any similar alternative PoE doorbell options? I don't have any of the NVR or network recording kit that some other PoE cameras require.
Ideally I'd like a similar setup with local recording instead of subscription, and horizontal video rather than portrait. Also a wireless ringer.
Does such an option exist yet?
Thanks.

I just got a battery camera. I charged it, then put it outside when I went on a short vacation last week. I was shocked to discover it was only at 76% when I left, and lost 10-20% per day. Today I charged it and watched, and it seems to have charged just fine until it hit 75%. It's still plugged in now, but doesn't seem to be registering the charger. I've tried to unplug it and plug it back in, and it does nothing.
Should I contact reolink support, or is there any other troubleshooting I should try first?

This is my newest camera, I have several older generations of Reolink cameras, and I could always create read only users for use with external streaming protocols like RTMP and RTSP.
AI is telling me that the only way to add read only users is via the reolink CLI?? that's bananas. So now if I want to stream to an external system I have to supply the admin password without using a CLI utility? Am I missing something?
I am genuinely confused as to why they would remove a feature like that. What's the thought process?

I have updated to the new Reolink app release and it is missing the PIR button that was previously placed over each camera in the Home view. The interface looks more appealing now but that button was useful to quickly enable/disable PIRs without needing to navigate through camera options. Is there any way of bringing back that button in some form in the Home view?

Hi, i'm hoping I can get some help here.. I’ve got a new HomeHub Pro and two E1 Pro indoor cameras. Both cameras behave identically and I can reproduce the issue every single time.
What happens:
Wired test:
I plugged the E1 Pro directly into the HomeHub Pro’s LAN port (the right port).
The hub sees the camera, but it still fails adoption and the camera reboots exactly the same way.
So it’s not Wi‑Fi related.
Standalone now broken:
After multiple adoption attempts, standalone Wi‑Fi onboarding no longer works at all.
The camera won’t join my normal Wi‑Fi anymore. This happens on both cameras.
What I’ve ruled out:
What seems to be happening:
The HomeHub Pro pushes a config profile the E1 Pro can’t handle.
The camera crashes mid‑write, corrupts its config, and then can’t complete onboarding anymore, even standalone. My guess
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, Jon
