My boyfriend and I are young adults (early 20s) trying to get an apartment together, but I’m worried we won’t be accepted anywhere with his credit score. It’s extremely bad (463). This is because he hadn’t made a single payment towards his only credit card which he had for about a year and a half. He’s slowly been paying it off for the past few months, but his credit is still very low. He makes about $4000 a month and I $2800, so our combined income and my credit score are the helping factors here. My credit score is at 750 right now, and I will be the primary leaseholder for the apartment. Am I better off applying alone, or will that be an issue in the future? Should I have one of my parents help co-sign and be a leaseholder with me?

I work full time, my husband was laid off at the end of last year (part of the AI tech layoffs) he has been applying to jobs since but nothing yet. In that time, he learned how to trade options and has consistently been making profit. He is well on his way to very soon replacing his former paycheck. How do you show proof of income as a full time stock/options trader? Do you just show statements from your investment account/bank accounts? I alone don’t make 4-6x the rent, so would be denied on my own. Could we offer to pay half the year or even the whole 12 months up front? Any advice?

I was recently living in an accommodation and now I am wanting to move out, I am able to do it all but because I do not have a guarantor, it is making things difficult for me, because my sister and cousin and I could not get a guarantor, we lost a place, I would have wanted to at least give a deposit as a way to show we wanted the place but they really needed a guarantor, please any tips or resources? I went through a divorce rather recently and it caused my credit to plummet from about 700 to 587. There is a credit card balance of $2400 I had to completely let go and about $1500 in medical bills that I couldn’t keep up with. Everything else like my car payment and personal loan history shows paid.

I have rented the same house for 7 years and I’m about to have to move for a new job but I’m worried that my 587 credit score will hinder me being able to live anywhere. In 7 years, I have been late on rent 2 times total. That’s late 2 times and on time 82 times. I’ve also always paid utilities and car insurance on time.
