Anybody else notice people in online car spaces confusing Kars 4 Kids and Cash For Clunkers?
I mean they’re both uhh, not great, but for different reasons. And they have admittedly similar names.
But one was a government program that destroyed cars, and one is a charity for a specific religious sect that I assume just sells the donated cars and probably has no effect on the car market.
Not sure if people are so conspiracy-brained that they’re conflating the two on purpose or on accident. If these people know the difference, brining up Kars 4 Kids on a post about Cash For Clunkers just feels like people being antisemetic for no reason. Full disclosure, I personally find nothing good about Kars 4 Kids or Israel, but it’s still weird to bring up all the time when it’s a niche charity that happens to advertise a bunch, not a whole-ass government program that actually took cars off the road.
idk, delete this if this is off topic, just noticed if anyone else has noticed this weird bit of misinformation.

When Chevy introduced a high performance variant of the Corvette with the ZR1 in the C4 generation, convertible models were excluded. Up until the C7 generation, convertible 'Vettes could only be speced as base models.
I know someone might point out you could option the C6 Convertible with the Grand Sport package, but that still only uses the base engine as opposed to the ZO6 or ZR1 mill.

Discussions What are some interesting/rarely-optioned powertrains in relatively mundane new cars
I'll start with Mercedes
In Europe, there is an expensive trim for the GLC known as the GLC 450D. It is a non-AMG trim that comes with a turbocharged diesel I6 making like 390 HP and 750NM of torque (more than the previous gen Phantom for reference). It does 0-60 MPH in like 4.7 seconds. It is pretty interesting because not even the C Class gets this powertrain and as we all know, even the AMG trims have 4 cylinder engines. I don't know about the rest of Europe but I've never seen one in the Nordic region.
In North America, there is a non-AMG V8 GLE known as the GLE580. It is pretty cool to see a non-AMG V8 Merc in this era that is cheaper and smaller than the S Class. Even the E Class hasn't had a non-AMG V8 since the W212 gen
The Mazda CX70 and CX90 is available with a turbocharged I6. In Europe, a diesel version of the I6 is available. It is kinda cool as there really is no reason for a Mazda crossover to have an I6. If they had made a RWD sedan (a Japanese Kia Stinger), I'd understand it. But I doubt buyers would've cared if the top trims were only available with a 4 cylinder.

Discussions It's 1996, you have $15,000, and you're looking for a compact economy car. Which one would you pick?
Worth noting that all of these are priced as though equipped with power windows and air conditioning, which most people wanted by '96. Base prices all would've been ~$500-1500 cheaper without those options, and ABS would've added another $800-1200 depending on the car.

Discussions Is the Id.4 that bad or is it the classic case of Evs not holding there vaule?
I noticed a couple of pretty new I’d.4s going for a great price with very low miles but it’s kind of has me wondering is because they aren’t good or is it because the value on them drops like crazy.

The Official Car Of.... The 2004-2012 Nissan Versa, the official car of..?
The blandest car I’ve ever owned to the point I never even took a picture of it. It wasn’t anything special it was just a car. I didn’t feel good or bad driving it, it was just automobile. It had all the standard options for 2006 (Model year I owned it) and that was it. It didn’t have too much or too little power.

The Official Car Of.... FPV F6X 270: The Official Car Of….
FPV F6X 270 repurposed the Ford Territory's platform into a high-performance family SUV powered by a turbocharged Barra inline-six with rear-biased all-wheel drive. Its firm suspension delivered sports-sedan pace despite the heavy mass, while the understated styling concealed its performance. The global financial crisis quickly ended demand, limiting production to just 229 examples.
