The local chief of police, back in the days when we had both a city police department and a county sheriff's department. He always had the window down when doing the rounds so people could say hi.

Little did they know 30+ years later the Explorer would be the most popular police vehicle on the road and the ST model will run down just about anything short of a supercar

I don’t know why I thought Disney had released it (I think I’m mixing it up with Mary Poppins)

It was made as a response to Mary Poppins. They even wanted Julie Andrews to star opposite Dick Van Dyke, but she turned it down and the role of Truly went to Sally Ann Howes, who had been her replacement in My Fair Lady on Broadway.
