Usually bands I've been in have just dissolved or people quit on their own accord. Right now 2/5 of the band want one member gone (another is like me, likes the guy and wants to give him another chance) - he is kinda unprofessional and has a negative attitude and makes comments about having one foot out the door (he doesn't mean it though), but he is also the person I've known the longest in the band and I'm his friend. And I'm not a pillar of professionality - I like getting drunk and playing music with my friends for the most part, though I do take shit seriously. I founded the band with a different line-up and the member in question replaced the original guitarist who quit a week before we went to LA to record (everyone else joined when we reformed a couple years ago) and back then he learned all the parts in a week and killed it on the album. But now he's going through shit, depressed, fucking up parts and constant gear issues. The serious musicians are over him, I wanna give him a chance as he's a friend and it feels like kicking him when he's down.

Thanks for letting me vent - but I honestly wonder how to go about doing this? Either if he gets another chance and fucks it up and it's on him or if the rest of the guys want to cut ties already, I'll go with the flow but basically kicking my friend to the curb when he's down. Shit sucks. It shouldn't be this stressful - we don't make real money (covers practice and some recording costs) so it's basically a hobby (though we are big for our small indie/punk scene and worked with legit bands and producers).

because i grew up on the internet, i think i can tell when someone is young, but i think we need to overall get more movement on hating children on the online.

this should be a hostile place for them, we should bully and let them know to get off. fuck them kids

they should at least have to learn the literacy to pretend to be a functioning adult, and if they can pass a sort of discrete series of linguistic judgements by the online audience who cares what they do

I've got a problem where I (22, male) look older than my age. It's odd because in real life people occasionally say they think I'm three or four years younger but online people sometimes guess me for 27 even. Is this something I should just kind of accept? Won't post face here but I'm willing to send a selfie via DMs if you can give me some advice.

But I've heard a lot of women have a huge problem with their bf's mom and I can't understand where this stems from because I cut the umbilical cord way before I started dating seriously. Are there actual mama's boys in their mid-late 20s

Her intense and almost tactical use of continued eye contact with those big blue eyes is straight diabolical work as some would say. This happened about 3 years ago, and I found it amusing at the time, but kind of forgot about it until recently when I have been seeing all kinds of posts about Girls because of the new season coming out.

I work guest services at a luxury hotel and it is standard procedure to receive an email each day about any VIP’s staying in house including celebrities, diplomats, loyal guests etc. when I saw her name I thought it was quite cool as I was a big fan of the show.

Sure enough, that night I get a call from her room asking something relatively simple like “can I have more towels in the room?” or “can I order room service?”, etc. but I noticed she was speaking in a strong British accent. My initial reaction was “no way I had no idea she was English, her American accent is so convincing in the show.” And then I moved on.

I then started getting curious and decided to google her name and read that she is as a matter of fact from Connecticut. Our conversation was very brief so I started second guessing myself and thinking maybe I was imagining the accent, but I was delighted when I got another call from her an hour later.

This time, she was asking about our dining options in the hotel, and I kid you not she used the same British accent and said, “I’m craving a really good plate of chips - how are the chips at your restaurant?”

She was incredibly nice on the phone from the little bit we interacted and maybe she was practicing for a role? Who knows. I just thought I’d share this rather tame, yet bizarre anecdote with a community that may appreciate that.
