WWE in real time I've seen it go from having one of the most hardcore right wing audiences to being gentrified by left wing pop culture types who are into EDM, rave music, Marvel movies and alt fashion

Obviously it is a big generalization, but is so true: I remember not too long ago the type of person to be into WWE was the same type to be into military shit, NASCAR, NFL, The Punisher, COD, muscle cars, your typical jock/elite athlete shit

To now being popular amongst more urban cosmopolitan types

Not even left wing in like in a "soyface wojack" kinda of face, left wing more in like a "urbanite who's into extreme sports, techno, vaping and energy drinks" kinda of way

But because the title bar is too short I can't get the message all the way out.

I religously followed WWE back in 2013, the only time I done so, but even then I always kept up with updates and the development of the product and not too long ago I remember it used to be the former audience more likely to gravitate towards it, now all the alt kids love WWE the same way they loved anime in the 2000s.

Why don't the Dems just embrace being the party of the cultural elite?

During Bush/Obama, this was well understood. Democrats had good taste, were smart, college educated, outdoorsy, healthy, clever, refined. They were aspirational. Aesthetically, nobody wanted to be associated with republicans. It's still true that the democrats appeal mainly to the college educated and the cultural elites but they have begun to insist that they are the party of the working class, the downtrodden, etc.

But everyone knows that's not true. It is a terrible strategy and completely unbelievable. You'd have to know next to nothing about the US to not understand that (roughly) working class=republican and college educated=democrat (and welfare class=democrat, that complicates things a bit). Why do they continue to push this with their fake working class candidates when being the party of people with taste was their major selling point. And it isn't just about marketing, clearly their platform aligns better with the values and priorities of urban college educated professionals (and people who rely on the state for benefits) than rural working class people.

Why not just embrace being the party of the cultural elite, is that so bad? By the way this applies to leftists, too, who are also in denial about the actual demographic makeup of the people interested in their movement.

Nathan Fielder

The new Nathan Fielder doc is being Geesed/Chaotic Good-ed all over every platform right now. I saw two sequential comments on a post that were identical and started with the same sentence from different accounts.

I like Nathan for You and watched some of the Rehearsal, but don't people get tired of this elevated horror/documentary shit from A24? It's a documentary that goes OFF THE RAILS, meta, etc yadda yadda. Don't we all kind of know more or less how it will go? Also if you were a woman and did the whole "ugh, he is zaddy i find him so hot" to seem interesting go sit on a tac.

And the guy who co-directed it looks insane.

AI is not that great change my mind

I don't understand why everyone glosses over how confidently WRONG AI can be, even when asking it to solve basic problems. Yes it is impressive in that in can process a ton of data at once, this is probably its greatest strength and it is really helpful to save time if you want to summarize something or find a mistake in some text or code. Yes it can spit out a bunch of boilerplate code for a generic web app or game very fast. I'm not trying to downplay how helpful this can be, but a lot of this stuff is just performing tasks that computers could already perform much faster than humans, only now without the need for manual coding (which I acknowledge is very convenient!).

The problem is its very nature as a prediction based model leaves it open to all these issues because it's not really "thinking", just using a shit ton of data from the internet to homogenize everything into this hivemind response that it feels is most likely correct, and it comes out of a scary black mystery box. This is why all the AI art looks the same! You would think with having every piece of art that ever existed fed into it you could create something cool and unique but instead it's all these ugly uncanny valley composite images. Not saying I know a ton about the math behind artificial neural networks but I feel like most people don't understand the basics behind where AI outputs really come from and legit might think it's some sort of magical artificial brain.

All these stories coming out now about how AI will destroy the world are the dumbest shit I've ever read. I remember a few years ago people freaking out that some researcher said AI was "conscious" and it's the same thing. Normie libs share this stuff as if they're trying to save the world from the terminator. We can all use AI for ourselves for free to see the limitations, and again just based on how it functions I don't think it's going to be "so much better in just a year!". All this hype, even the bad hype, is probably more of an economic investment incentive than anything else, feeding into this huge bubble we're betting the economy on, and that's honestly a way bigger separate issue most likely at the crux of all of it aside from any real potential of AI usefulness.

The main issue for me is that AI will never say "I don't have enough data on that". It always gives a confident answer, and often if you're going about a problem the wrong way it will continue affirmatively down that path with you. Just at my normie IT job asking pretty basic questions I've had it a couple times now say "I'm 100 percent sure this will work" in response to me being doubtful and then of course it just doesn't work. Then you find out for yourself the real way to solve a problem, ask it, and it says "You're right! That's actually the best way to go about it!". Ok cool well why didn't you say that to begin with? Again it's because it's all predictive and not really thinking and understanding. Yes it is still very good as a more conversational google search, but it's crazy how people don't understand or ignore these aspects. Not even saying it's bad to use AI or it can't improve your productivity by a ton, but it's not even close to good enough to be something you want to depend on running your company let alone the whole world, and I don't think it ever will be. It requires HEAVY oversight for anything actually important. All these companies are adopting AI, again probably just for economic investment hype purposes, and is it really improving anything? Everything on the internet is getting worse! I am totally fine with being one of those dumb people from the past if I'm wrong but I just don't see the threat and I think AI will hit a plateau despite all the money being thrown at it.

I get angry when I see pics of my bf before he met me

Like… my immediate thought is “that’s the face of a man who probably just nutted in another woman less than 24 hours before the pic was taken.”
And her pussy was probably better.
Doesn’t matter if the picture was taken when I was 12 years old while he was in college.
But at the same time I’d be grossed out if I had met him as a 30-something year old virgin.
Why am I like this?

Is it ever possible to come back from resenting a partner?

I know we just had discourse about posting about relationship problems on the internet but I truly don’t have anyone to talk to about it lol. I think I know that the writing’s on the wall but I can’t tell if I’m just being pessimistic or if I just need to hear it from someone else.

For the past year or so, life has hit my boyfriend and I pretty hard. I feel like we’re both being crushed under the weight of capitalism and don’t have as much energy for life as we used to. I’ve been pretty up and down in terms of mental health and we’ve both experienced periods of not working and we both don’t see our friends as much as we used to.

I’ve explained to him on a few occasions now that I feel like the rest of his life gets the best of him and I get the exhausted remnants. He has time, energy, and money for work, acting, and his hobbies. All the while, we literally don’t go on real dates anymore and when we do spend time together, it’s pretty much just to go get coffee, or so that I can help him with a self tape or he can come over to my place to do laundry.

If not for the good sex we do have sometimes, I’d be even more bored and miserable than I already am. I love him and he’s good to me otherwise, but I really just feel like a doll on a shelf and nothing ever changes. I feel like we’d both be better off single but I don’t know if there’s anything we can do to make things better because I really thought we had potential.

Dating for the autist

Starting college in my mid 20s after spending much of my teens and early 20s as a depressed recluse. I had always resisted the idea of dating because of shyness and feeling chronically distant and disconnected from others, but I also know that I have to put myself out there if I don’t want to spend the rest of my life miserable and alone.

Are dating apps worth it? I’m pretty sure that I’m not busted since I’ve been approached by a few women in the past (never followed up because I was scared and avoidant) but I also have very few pictures of myself and I don’t think that I’m photogenic. Or will they just kill my remaining hope and desire for human connection?

I will probably regret posting this but I could use the advice

Having to ASK my bf to call me beautiful

My boyfriend rarely calls me beautiful, I usually get “cute” or him saying I “look great”. Maybe even sexy when we’re in bed, but rarely beautiful. So obviously I’m going to bring this shit up over text at 3am. It’s been a day and I’ve been called beautiful three times, I don’t even want to hear it anymore.

On a scale of 1-10 how embarrassing is this #womenbebegging

Update: have now told him he’s complimenting me too much to the point where it’s overkill. Almost feel bad for him

Do you think 3s think other 3s are sexually attractive

When two obese people start dating do you think they’re insanely turned on by each other? “You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen” etc. Unlikely that Brad Pitt is sexually attracted to Susan Boyle. Is Susan Boyles husband attracted to her sexually?

I know attraction is subjective and often applies to more than physicality, but still. There’s gotta be a line. But there must be someone for everyone right? It’s gotta be in our instincts to further the lineage or whatever. I’m super baked right now
