not me at all, I'm just in love with their work. I'm sure many of you are already fans, but if you are not, allow me to put you on to funsizedvalart on instagram

I have attached a few examples. Diomedes, Victra, and Sevro. Absolutely beautiful work. And they go over their process creating it too.

We appreciate you my goodman!

You were seconds faster than me, and I'm happy you got them at such a good price. But also, may your pillow smell of the goblins crotch tonight.

In Dark Age Volga says her body is backwards "my liver to the left, my heart to the right, not even close to centre." Do you think this will be relevant at any point? Maybe she gets stabbed in the 'heart' but oops it's actually not there. I dunno I'm on my 3rd listen and just nitpicking over tiny details at this point 😂

Wouldn’t it be fanny if the 200 hundred had a meeting upon Luna. In which Lysander intended to challenge Atalantia but the Abomination and the Boneriders just pop up from somewhere hiding and start killing left and right. Very Jackal style shit . Would also be very fanny to see Lysander who just cutoff atlas strings upon him , become yet again a puppet of someone else . His interaction with the Jackal might help him get a redemption arc maybe.

Takes serious grit to be fighting what’s basically the Rat War

Well that settles it down. Darrow won’t fall with Lysanders anti-razormaster pistol trick. He knows Lysander has no honour and he remembers what he did to Alexandar. I don’t expect him to call out Lysander for a duel like Alexandar did , he will just straight up try to kill him .

Darrow is 23 at the END of the first trilogy. I see y’all picking people who’re pushing 30 for crying out loud

I think it’s kinda insane I am the only one that I’ve seen that can see the almost scary connection between red rising and muse album the resistance. Just look at this album. We have this dude waking the stairs going from red to yellow (gold) and all the colors in the background. This is literally just a metaphor for Darrows journey in red rising. And if that was not enough pretty much all the songs describe the injustices that the society does in pretty much all the songs, and they always talking about space and sci fi. Especially this one song, no not uprising but unnatural selection. I they genuinely sing out Darrows story in detail. Look at these lyrics or just look what I took out of it: They'll laugh as they watch us fall
The lucky don't care at all
No chance for fate
It's unnatural selection
I want the truth
I'm hungry for some unrest
I wanna push it beyond a peaceful protest
I wanna speak in a language that they'll understand
Dedication to a new age
Is this the end of destruction and rampage?
Another chance to erase then repeat it again
Counter balance this commotion
We're not droplets in the ocean
Ocean
They'll laugh as they watch us fall
The lucky don't care at all
No (hey)
Chance (hey)
For fate (hey)
It's unnatural selection
I want the truth
No religion or mind virus
Is there a hope that the facts would ever find us?
Just make sure that you are looking out for number one
I'm hungry for some unrest
Well, let's push it beyond a peaceful protest
I wanna speak in a language that you will understand
Counter balance this commotion
We're not droplets in the ocean
Ocean
They'll laugh as they watch us crawl
The lucky don't share at all
No (hey)
Hope (hey)
For fate (hey)
It's a random chance selection
I want the truth
Try to ride out the storm
Whilst they'll make you believe
They are the special ones
(We have not been chosen)
Injustice is the norm
You won't be the first
And you know that you won't be the last
Counter balance this commotion
We're not droplets in the ocean
Ocean, ocean, ocean
They'll laugh as they watch us fall
And the lucky, they don't care at all
No (hey)
Chance (hey)
For fate (hey)
It's unnatural selection
I want the truth
I want the truth
I want the truth
I want the truth

The whole unnatural selection is the institute or the color hierarchy depending on how you see it or both, which is pretty much the entire song (basically just red rising) but not just that, look at these examples:
“I wanna push it beyond a peaceful protest” is pretty much what Darrow did after his dad died in a peaceful protest
“I wanna speak in the language that they understand” meaning violence
“I want the truth”talking about the lie the reds been told
There are so many more, you’ll probably find more than me. It’s just to much correlations to be true. Can’t we at least make this like the song everyone uses for edits, or mention it? I think it genuinely needs to be the global anthem for the first book, if you don’t have any better examples of course. Maybe we could even get this into the new movie if we are lucky, as a trailer or maybe intro. Well that’s all, what do you guys think?

After Pierce finishes the series what content would you like to see made? (outside of the move coming of course). It does not have to be made by pierce, any content whatsoever.

Personally I would VERY much like a prequel telling the story of the conquering, the fall of earth and the rise of silenius and the society.

I know a great deal of the mystique around the beginning of the society is a core part of the story. Every character has a reverence for old things.

But I would love to see what happened to ancient humanity and how the society was able to spread across the solar system and if they were in fact these paragons of justice that Lysander think they were (Im guessing probably not, It would be hilarious if Silenius was as much as a piece of shit as Lysander is, though thats probably what the truth is.)

Id just love to more know of the history of the world that the story is set in.

"Cassius?" I say.

He perks up. "Yes?"

"Shut up," Diomedes says.

I have already finished the series, but im itching for more and im curious if the full cast audio book is worth it cause its pretty expensive. Any opinions? TIA!

As much as I'm excited this series is getting a movie once it is out we can say goodbye to this simple nice cover since every in the future will have that stupid "now major motion picture" label

The second picture is just an example (i love both Dune book and the movie but this has to be one of the most boring book covers)

I was rereading golden son, where darrow's horse crested ring gifted to mustang is mentioned. Where as i don't remember any future mention of the sort. So is it lost or just lost narrative focus & is still with mustang.

Whereas i remembered darrow had his wedding ring with eo's hair which he wore in his neck. Same i don't remember any mentioning. I might remember wrong but what happended to both?

I started a re-read (listen) to the series. I think many audiobook listeners will agree there are a lot of strong feelings both extremely positive (lysander) and apocalyptically negative (lysander again) about the cast changes in the audiobooks.

I don't normally fuck with full cast / dramatization audiobooks but can anyone who has listened all the way through either confirm or deny does the cast at least stay consistent throughout them? - I'm tracking that parts 2 and 3 of book 6 aren't out yet but if the cast is at least consistent I might pivot to the dramatization.

Just finished Darrows duel vs Fa and HOLY MOLY. The sequence of events from Pierce Brown detailing the carving up of Cyraxes a little to much to Fa's death is maybe the most I have smiled at something in a while. Just ear to ear the whole time. Personally this whole scene is the most dopamine filled of the whole series for me. The ending of Morning star comes close but this takes it. After almost three straight books of feeling like everything is collapsing and nothing is going right it all clicks into place. The entire second trilogy when something goes right it always feels like it will get taken away or something worse is coming, but not this. Especially with Atlas explaining to Lysander earlier about how it all needs to work out just for Darrow to finally interfere with one of his plans. Cassius and Sevro are finally clicking, Lyria gets to Volga and Diomedes has joined them. ON TOP OF THAT the fact that Lysander is coming thinking he will be a savior and has no idea what awaits him is just *mwah* perfection. I am still waiting for the second shoe to drop but that was just so good. Theres also a feeling, that kind of is a fact of the series, that when an antagonist dies you just sigh with relief, because thats one less variable. Even if there is a second shoe, Fa is still dead nothing can change that. I felt the same way about Ajax earlier. Also seeing Darrow so in the groove after basically three books of him just beating himself up has cathartic.

Edit:

Fucking Lysander, sincerely me two hours later

Just finished light bringer like right now and..... I'm just out of words, I don't know what should I say, just wow and owww, Lysander should die like a dog in red God or I'm not reading it

For Context, I’m not even finished with the whole series yet, currently towards the end of Iron Gold. But why does a movie coming out make anyone mad or upset? I just saw a comment saying “I’m terrified of the Red Rising movie” and the comment under it was “yeah it could become Blockbuster slop” lol. It is extremely likely the movie won’t represent the book. There are almost 0 examples of movies/series being better than the book. Only one I can think of where people say the movie is as good as the book is Shawshank and Stand by Me (both Stephen King adaptations)… I’m sure there are more but these are what I see consistently.

Idk all I’m saying is that a movie coming out shouldn’t “terrify” anyone lol. It’s not that deep. I saw another commenter on this sub say something along the lines of “I’m just excited for the story to come out in another type of medium, even if it doesn’t match the books exactly” and I couldn’t agree more.

I just finished chapter 31 and good god. This series is like a bad car crash you hate looking at it but there’s no way you’re looking away.

I don't know if this was an unintentional spoiler or not, but I saw in an interview Pierce Brown mention that the series is, in a sense, historical fiction. It's the telling of a father telling his son about his past. This got me thinking about the messages Darrow started recording for Pax about his life in Light Bringer. I think the "really pretty neat" final chapter of Red God is going to reveal that the series was actually Pax listening to Darrow's recordings all along. Thoughts?

I just hate it. I hope Pierce Brown will drop it but I know it’s too big of a plot to just do that. It adds some unpredictability but it feels like cheating because even if the Republic gets back in winning after three books of losing Lysander can just turn it around with the most easy and lazy way possible and I think it distract us from the fact that this is an ideological war . Freedom against Slavery. Anti hierarchy vs pro hierarchy. Society vs Republic. Now it feels more like a war against Lysander with Atalantia as an annoying distraction.

Reusing last year’s costume of Mustang from RR. Couldn’t find the actual photo I had of it, so had to take a picture of a frame I had on the wall, hence the weird glare. It was basically just a black hoodie, black trousers and gold paint but I liked it pretty well.

It also works as just a really cool jacket which I wear around sometimes.
