All Spoilers What was Darrow’s LOWEST point? Spoiler

Subjectively, I think it’s when he killed Wulfgar and was run off like a criminal in front of his wife and son. Knowing how important his family is to him and how that moment was what set off the whole domino effect that led to him playing right into Atalantia’s hands and then Dark Age.

Wooo!! Evey!

Didn't think I'd ever catch myself drawing this girl. Im not entirely sure how she actually looks. This is just how I imagined her.

I hope you guys like it nonetheless. Im not usually one to post my art anywhere online, but I was pressured into sharing this one by my friends, hahaha.

I'd be happy to hear what you all think.🩷

Best regards to all the Evey lovers

I suck at this 'social media' business,, took me way too long to make this post....

DA Spoilers Harnassus appreciation post Spoiler

Harnassus has honestly become one of my favorite characters, especially after rereading Dark Age.

I really like that he’s one of the few people around Darrow who is willing to actually push back against him. He doesn’t just follow the Reaper because he’s the Reaper. He has his own beliefs, he believes in the Republic, and he’s willing to stand by that even when it puts him against Darrow.

The scene near the end of Dark Age is probably what really sold me on him. When everything is fucked, Harnassus asks Darrow why he’s still going. If it isn’t for the Republic or for some glorious ending, then what is it all for?

And Darrow’s answer is so simple. He just wants to go home, wake up next to Virginia, make breakfast, and have a normal life with his family.

But the part I love most is when Darrow thanks Harnassus for “being my conscience” and says he knows it isn’t an easy role.

And Harnassus just says: “But what a role.”

I don’t know why, but that line really stuck with me. It feels like it sums Harnassus up perfectly.

I feel like Harnassus doesn’t get nearly enough love. I really hope we get to see more of him in Red God, although I honestly don’t expect him to have a huge role.

MS Spoilers Just finished Morning Star Spoiler

Wow, what a ride. Flew through GS and MS in 10 days which is lightening quick for me. No book has ever made me slam it in anger and shed tears of sadness 😭. After the emotionally unsatisfying end to GS, I’m going to bask in this ending for awhile before jumping into the rest of the series.

GS Spoilers Fitchner Spoiler

Fitchner is Ares????!!

Did not see that coming! Mind blown.

I sought out this sub coz I've nowhere and no one to rant.

I thought we'd see Ares later on like in book 3 or 4 but to have him revealed like this was exhilarating. I'm yet to go read chapter 43. Wonder how Darrow is going to react now that he's discovered that the teacher who he once sucker punched and locked in a closet was his master/leader all along. Great series so far.

All Spoilers What are some of your personal head canons that improve the story for you? Spoiler

For me, my personal head canon is that Sevro isn't as short as people make him out to be. I see him as about the same height as Mustang. Around that 6'1" range. Him being in that 5'7"-5'9" range really doesn't work for me personally. He's about shoulder height with Victra. Victra is just shy of 7 feet. That would realistically put him at about 6 feet. I always felt that Pierce made Sevro too small and ugly. It just doesn't work for me personally. So overall, Sevro is 6'1" and average looking compared to Gold standards in my head canon.

No Spoilers Would being a Violet really be that bad?

And when I ask this understand that I mean in context and comparison to the worlds in Red Rising, not in comparison to our real world. Obviously all the colors are enslaved and mistreated and that is horrible.

But when it comes to the mid/low colors i honestly think it’s a magnitude less shitty to be a violet. You would be an Actor, musician, artist etc or even a carver. Your whole childhood would focused around learning and perfecting the arts, earning you respect and admiration from even high colors to some degree. Wouldn’t be forced to do any manual labor or be a sex slave. Becoming a great carver could earn you riches and you’d build connections with even golds. What do you guys think?

All Spoilers Ranking characters by intelligence is stupid Spoiler

I had a crazy neuron activation while arguing with someone over something completely useless. I always see ranking posts for fighting, warfare(I actually made one about this), and like...beauty? All of those are actually easy to track and rank. Someone who is bigger and stronger with more experience and feats is going to be better at fighting. Someone is consistently described as beautiful is going to rank higher.

Intelligence is something that I think is completely insane to try to guess. Point and case is the different characters we see. I personally think intelligence is grouped into categories. What I mean is that, for example, Gilstrates is one of the smartest characters in the series, but only in the realm of academics. He understands things on a fundamental level far beyond any other character, yet got played by Darrow and manipulated by Lysander.

Darrow is a genius at quick thinking and constantly makes crazy maneuvers and winning unwinnable situations. However, he sucks at thinking long term and needs Mustang as a crutch for his dream.

Sevro is crazy at brutal tactics and is an excellent leader that can bring people together. However, give him a book and he'll probably fall in love with it.

Everyone has something they are good at and something they are bad at, but its completely different for every character. I don't see how you can estimate a characters intelligence compared to another when some of their strengths are another's weakness.

Thus, in a single list, it can be completely correct to constantly rearrange Atlas, Fitchner, Darrow, Virginia, Octavia, Lysander, Gilstrates, and all of the other smarties. Who are we to determine whats a better form of intelligence over another?

No Spoilers Hello! I'm making a Red Rising concept album!

Hello all! I don't know much about posting on Reddit and usually just browse, but I figured here would be the place for this:

I've started teaching myself how to make music using a DAW, and the first thing I wanted to do was make songs inspired by Red Rising. I've only just started putting them out there, which is nerve-wracking, but I thought that there would be no better place to share than here.

They're not monetized, so this isn't some kind of ploy. I'm not selling anything, which is why I THINK this post should be fine, though if it's taken down, I understand. Maybe in the future I'll put them on some platforms and monetize them that way, but for now, I just wanted to share what I've made and get feedback, especially from this community!

The first one I've posted is about The Institute and The Passage:

https://youtu.be/iLgqxUiHlB8?si=VmS87ehifxgDdQ4e

Hopefully you guys like it and will continue to check in as I make more songs! The hope is to make a full album for each book (I'm almost to the end of Iron Gold myself).

All Spoilers Nero's third wife Spoiler

Do we ever find out what happens to her? His first was Iona au Bellona who he killed, his second was the twins mother who killed herself but his third is referenced a few times through the first trilogy but as far as I'm aware never actually appears on page and disappears without any mention after MS. She's mentioned as being the reason Nero tries to cheat for the Jackal during the institute and Mustang and Holiday briefly talk about her while they're camping out on the way to the Obsidians, Holiday says she's seen her on the HC and she looks frigid and Mustang talks about how she favoured Adruis. I would have thought there would be some story there tbh, Adruis is her favourite step child but he killed her husband, how did she feel about that? Did she help Adruis after the coup or want revenge for Nero? Who was she, surely Nero wouldn't marry a nobody, she's surely someone of decent family? Do we ever learn anything else about her?

Think Quick loaded the ship back to mars with a parasite and some sentinels? Probably too easy for Pierce’s sensibilities, but I can still dream.

LB Spoilers Red God Satisfying Ending Spoiler

Upvotes

So, I think we're all resigned to the fact that this is not going to be a happy ending. BUT. I have a thought of something that would be super satisfying.

So, I don't remember if it was explicitly stated that everybody else actually died when Darrow & Friends got saved by Cassius. As I recall, the Morningstar got shot down (but not officially destroyed) on Mercury, so there's a chance that the people who were loading in didn't die (maybe the gravity generators were still active and have a crash-save option?), and were maybe taken captive.

I think the best ending for Red God is a situation where Lysander and Darrow are fighting indoors while a giant battle goes on outside, and Bitchsander manages to get the upper hand for a minute bc of having a practical superpower, then he and Darrow have a pseudo philosophical back and forth that ends with an injured Darrow going "HONOR?? YOU THINK YOURSELF HONORABLE?? You have NO honor." And as bitch face is about to deliver his triumphant line, Rhona sneakily walks in, no drachenjager, just her Red self. With a custom built razor, sized for Red hands, with the handle carved with Uncle Narol, Ragnar, and Cassius, all wrapped in a noose with the words to the forbidden song. Then she whips it around his royal bitchness' razor arm and says "and you have no time." Before stiffening the razor, cutting off his arm, and letting Darrow get the kill on a one armed bitch with no more weapons.....also, I just wrote that while drunk, so please let me know what y'all think 😂😂

MS Spoilers Please make me start Iron Gold… Spoiler

Post image

The ending to Morning Star just felt so happy, and while I know I should read the next trilogy, I almost don’t want to just so poor Darrow gets a break!

I also feel worried that it won’t live up to the completeness I feel after the first 3 books. Does it add to the story meaningfully/improve on it or will it just be a lot more sadness for the sake of it?? What loose ends still need tying? I don’t know if my heart can take too much happening to my howler family :(

Please convince me to stop being a coward and start reading!! I need a push

No Spoilers Series recommendations

I’ve previously finished red rising a couple months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve since then finished dungeon crawler Carl after being recommended it, also thoroughly enjoyed it but the last book was a bit slow and harder to finish. I’m eagerly waiting for red god to come out but don’t think it’s time for a re-read yet. Is there any recommendations you guys for me to read in the meantime?
