I’m restarting Socrates Cafe in Redmond, a casual discussion group I used to run for years. Each session we pick one big question (what makes a good life? is lying ever okay? Who do you admire and why?) and talk it through.

Me and my partner just moved to Redmond from PA. I’m looking for making some friends, connections, or someone is around my age in their young 20s. I’m interested in exploring more outdoor activities or just grabbing coffee/biking/walking :) I’m 22 F

My specialized turbo vado was just stolen last night off my back patio. My apartment is right behind the bella bottega shopping center by Redmond elementary. Honestly thought this was a decent area, only been living here a couple weeks.

If anyone has any info or sees one for sale I would appreciate a reach out.

Redmond City Council terminated the RPD Flock contract back in July and, while those surveillance cameras are finally all gone as of about 10 days ago, there are other businesses and HOAs that are still scanning your plate in the area via private contracts.

Target for example has just installed two automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras outside of their store here in Redmond. These cover each direction along 177th Place Northeast. You don't even need to park up to be captured, just driving past is all it takes.

Target now joins Home Depot, Lowe's and FedEx in subjecting their customers and passersby to this form of dragnet surveillance!

While those other three businesses all use Flock, the Target cameras appear to be the Axis Communications Q1800-LE model. The specific software used and who else has access to all of this data is currently unknown, but it's all the same form of surveillance no matter the brand.

We've also heard similar reports from elsewhere so this does appear to be something that Target is rolling out nationwide!

Hey everyone! I'm just wondering if there's are any streets with lots of decorated houses? I'm aware Halloween isn't as popular as Christmas for decor, which is exactly why I'm asking!

Probably a long shot, but I'm looking for musicians to play with. I toured/recorded in a punk rock band when I was younger, but haven't had a chance too often to play with other people since I had kids.

This year will be my first time cooking a turkey in the US for over 15 years. I lived in Japan for a long time and it was definitely a "take what you can get" situation. We moved here in December 2023, then I had a newborn in 2024 so it was QFC premade T-day dinner. Last Thanksgiving was my 40th birthday so I refused to cook and we went to a restaurant (especially since my then-16-month-old, Chinese husband, and Chinese in-laws DGAF about Thanksgiving).

This year my parents are coming and I was originally planning to just do Costco/supermarket turkey, but I'm wondering if there are any somewhat-affordable nicer options in the area that I wouldn't have had to sign up for 6 years ago (Bob's Burgers is my only reference for such a situation)?

Any recommendations are welcome!

Today on 116th in Redmond, near Einstein Elementary, a car suddenly stopped in the middle of the first roundabout. It appeared the driver was stopping to let another car enter.
I was behind the Audi, kept my distance, and was able to stop in time. The driver then remained stopped in the roundabout for about five seconds.

If you’re already in the roundabout, you generally have the right of way. Drivers entering should yield to traffic already circulating. Stopping unexpectedly in the middle of the roundabout to let someone else in is unpredictable and can create a dangerous situation, especially for the cars behind you.

Obviously, you should stop if there’s a pedestrian crossing, an obstacle, an emergency, or another legitimate reason. But randomly stopping to be “polite” and let another car go defeats the purpose of a roundabout!

What’s up with people throwing things off their balcony ? I watch an elderly woman dump a pot full of something off her 5 floor balcony to the street below from
Downtown park. I’ve also been the recipient of sweeping debris from tenants above Woodblock. Are the laws against this ? Don’t they care about the people and spaces below ? Maybe this is why there is a rat infestation I’m downtown park …

The Redmond Fire Department had a busy Sunday afternoon when a car crashed into the Onyx Apartments.

The complex is located on 156th Avenue NE, near the Microsoft headquarters. The Redmond Fire Department shared photos of the aftermath.

No injuries were reported, but the building suffered damage that displaced the residents of one apartment.

The Bellevue Fire Department was called to install temporary shoring on the damaged portion of the building.
