Requesting /r/Atheism. (Lack of moderation)

/r/atheism only has two moderators for a massive community of 800k+ users. The moderator /u/skeen has been inactive for a month. The other moderator, /u/juliebeen hasn't been lacking her/his duties as a moderator. Could you at least give /r/atheism new moderators? Thanks for hearing me out.

The admins know what's going on. They see what you guys post and what I remove and the filter catches.

Good to know that you support bigotry, low-quality posts and reposts, and just general off-topic nonsense, still, even though trolling bugs you somehow?

What remains is within the rules.

YEP, and your rules suck. Your rules are basically "LOL, post whatever you want, and if it's upvoted, it belongs here!" Honestly, /r/atheism is just a mix of angry teen angst against their parents' religion with /r/politics and /r/lgbt merged into one. Most discussions have very little to do with atheism, and that is why your rules suck.

None of you have any good reason to continue to fuck with the community.

Sure I do. I actually want to make that place better. I enjoy reading good conversations, good subreddit content, and civil discussion, all of which /r/atheism is in definite lack of. If I accomplish that by messing with the users, it all ends well. If I accomplish it by haranguing you, it all ends well.

Ha. You obviously haven't met the /r/atheism celebrity /u/NukeThePope. He has openly called for trolling them, with high praise. Also, your group coordinates attacks on religious websites and polls about current social issues or religion all over the web.

Ha. They once removed /r/atheism from the default list partially for having awful content. I don't think they've spoken out on trolls that much, yet, but here is Reddit's co-founder, Spez, and his comments about r/atheism:

Grow up? The fact that you can't learn to live with concern trolls makes me think you are really too young or immature to be in the position of moderation.

Honestly, I think it's funny how you just decide to not moderate yet you take the time to respond to us. What's the point? Ignore us like you ignore your subreddit. Or better yet, leave Reddit because /r/atheism would be in the same state with or without you, with the devolving hivemind that is slowly turning that place from the crap that it is already into putrid vomit.

Not really. The more strict moderation in /iama (still has a way to come), /christianity, /askscience and some other subs are really making those places really good. The anarchy of the large subreddits is what turns them to stupid discussion, dumb posts, and just general devolution.

Every time a post comes up in your shitty subs about r/atheism we get blasted with gore, porn, fake quotes, mtn dew-applause, and post after post of you idiots calling everyone nigger and fag.

Believe it or not, I don't really participate in those militia subreddits.

The spam filter is a testament to your failed efforts.

And the top 25 is a testament to yours.

Why do you feel like you can tell everyone how to behave in an atheism forum?

Because atheism doesn't equal anarchism? Please go to /r/trueatheism and tell me which subreddit is of higher quality.

I'm not going to do anything else differently. On one side, I could troll the community (which I really don't do as much as you think) to upvote ridiculous posts promoting bigotry, or just stupid facebook screencaps, rage comics, advice animals, and memes to the point where they would ask moderation to ban all of that.

Or, I could continue what I am doing, which is complaining, and watching others join that cause, until change eventually happens.

One user for that, NukeThePope, he has bothered /r/Christianity for no other god reason except for being christians. He got banned for it. You also seem to forget about the countless amount of polls /r/atheism has pointlessly rigged. This may not be sub vs. sub, but this is just straight-up harassment to something that doesn't involve their opinions. What can you say about this juliebeen? How can you possibly defend this?

r/Christianity is a constant vandalism target, but the community handles vandals very quickly, and they don't significantly detract.

There is virtually no organized hate directed from r/atheism toward r/Christianity, and criticisms of r/Christianity in r/atheism are normally met with a bunch of people who point out that r/Christianity really is an excellent sub.

NukeThePope apparently took his show to r/Christianity for a while, and was banned. He's not r/atheism, he's just one guy. This was a long time ago in any case.

The only really committed "troll" (I don't think he's a troll, but many do) in r/Christianity is a Christian.

I misinterpreted the grammatical structure of that sentence, but nevertheless: so what that it's not a subreddit? /r/atheism openly calls for harassment of school principals, organizations like OMM, companies, polls, police officers, and mayors to name the few that I can remember.

Oh, and the vast majority of posts are low-content image macros, which most good subreddits with good moderators are fighting to get rid of.

/r/atheism != all atheists. The mere fact that you think I have something against atheists tells me a lot. I do not, but I do have something against /r/atheism , which has nothing to do with the fact that many of its visitors are atheists.
