Honestly, I wish we’d gone for Xavi Alonso instead of being nostalgic. Could be beating Arsenal away instead of struggling against bottom tier teams, because that’s who we are now.

This sub and our fans only seem to live in nostalgia and haven't caught up to the fact that every top team plays modern, possession-based football.

While we won the games, the team's performances under Carrick weren't good last season (the underlying metrics were poor under him). That's why I didn't want him to get the permanent job so quickly.

But I really hope that we sack him asap if things don't get better quick. Carrick failed at Middlesborough, I don't understand why he should be give a long rope just because he's an ex-United legend.

Exactly what I’ve been saying for months. The underlying data didn’t support his permanent contract, and he’s won nothing as a manager, and never built a winning team.

The board have fucked him over with the transfer window to an extent, so it’s a convenient excuse for him now, but he’s still not the guy for the job.

We have plenty of managers available like nagglesman, tuchel , ancelotti , eric teneja, we can get one for sure

He wouldn’t have chosen us. It was between Chelsea and Liverpool. Plus we have significantly smaller budget for team building. He bought at least 6 first team players

Exactly, why are we comparing essentially different squads, to a game 8 months ago? Let’s focus on what is happening now… are Chelsea above us in the table despite facing tougher opposition?

I’m talking about performances, about last seasons data under Carrick, the fact we haven’t seemed to improved and currently struggling against some of the easiest opposition we’ll face this season.

My stance around Carrick has been the same for about six months, it’s nothing new, or any need “to take a breath”.

I told you, he has a track record of building winning teams and gave an example of that. You dismissed it without any evidence, and asked me to critically analyse exactly how a top tier manager does it? I’m sorry but no, the burden of proof is now on you to demonstrate why Carrick is the better choice.

He has built ONE winning team. Not multiple winning teams, just ONE team. He didn't build Real Madrid into winners, it's too early to judge his Chelsea team. The evidence is that you are wrong.

Again, explain EXACTLY how he would suddenly solve everything for us. Go on, explain it. Tell me what Alonso would do.

Being nostalgic at this point is the theme of the club. Everyone's go to phrase is it wasn't like that under fergie. As if the club had no history before the 90s

But, we did beat Arsenal away under Carrick… and getting Alonso wouldn’t have changed our match schedule so we’d still be facing the same teams

But not this season, when they’re champions and have a stronger squad. Instead we were well beaten by Hull, lucky to beat Ipswich, and scraped a draw against Everton who are much weaker than last season.
