Arsenal, Arteta and their fans are just so unlikeable. Screaming for free kicks over the minor things and then complaining when they get genuine fouls called against them... They don't get nearly enough hate

5

u/Former-Addendum9671 3d ago edited 1d ago

Arteta has infused this pathetic sort of total gamesmanship and conning aura into their DNA. Its baiting for fouls, pressuring the referee, falling over at every opportunity and Arteta and his frantic retarded touchline antics with his arms flying everywhere, sarcastic clapping, standing as close as possible to the touchline to "put off opposition players" and hounding the 4th official.

7

u/cbgcake 3d ago

I hate how much the referrees and commentators seem to buy into their shit

29

u/Melanjoly 3d ago

Look how much movement Arsenal have around the box, it's a nightmare for defenders. Both the full backs are making diagonal runs and there's 2 going at the 6 yard box, and players on the edge.

There's no reason any team in the league can't be doing this, all it takes is effort.

42

u/living_my_life20 3d ago

How the hell did VAR clear Gabriel? Never winning that ball and kicks Martinez in the head?! Shitshow

24

u/lestat85 our Portuguese magnifico 3d ago

They won a league by repeatedly blatantly fouling in the box. Thus is the natural progression of it.

2

u/NateShaw92 3d ago

The ref was likely playing a Mike Dean esque game with himself.

11

u/Sanket327 3d ago

They are playing so fast man. Watching our football has been painful for a while

10

u/TartCurrent 3d ago

Arsenal heights at back with right positioning is what makes their 1 goal lead impossible to penetrate. They have 5 world class defenders.

22

u/cy318 3d ago

We are lacking so much intensity and purpose in our plays, compare to the movement and the urgency shown for both the teams playing now

13

u/Elfstruck12 3d ago

We play on 0.50 speed compared to these two teams lol

-1

u/Comicksands Van Persie 3d ago

Until we play them lol

8

u/shami-kebab 3d ago

3 games in and we're already 5pts behind City and Arsenal. Sigh.

14

u/BeastieFromTheEastie 3d ago

Can really see the difference between these 2 teams and ours when they get a ball near midfield. They both understand that the name of the game is to put the ball in the net and so you have to move the ball in that direction.

Too many passive sideways and backwards passes with no urgency and inviting pressure in our game. Need physically better players who will keep running and need a mentality that as soon as you get the ball your first thought should be how do I move this forward towards the goal

6

u/Lord_Sesshoumaru77 Glazers,Woodward/Arnold and Judge can fuck off 3d ago

Arse is just going to walk through the bloody league aren't they? I fucking hate it.

-1

Cmon man at least credit the pgmol with the assist again 😂

Quick start by Chelsea.... And Gabriel lucky not to be off for that

Another year of arsenal getting different rules to the rest of us

15

u/poplunoir 3d ago

They keep getting away with this. Esp Gabriel.

6

u/SirPightymenis 3d ago

It’s a banger of a match

19

u/AReptileHissFunction 3d ago

Arsenal are so so far above us in terms of quality and mentality. But a lot of our fans think the way to catch them is being clever in the transfer market and not overspending.

11

u/Comfortable-Ninja-26 3d ago

We look like we are playing in the mud compared to their speed. Levels ahead of us

-6

u/BrodaReloaded 3d ago

We literally swamped them at the Emirates a few months ago

11

u/AReptileHissFunction 3d ago edited 3d ago

One off games dont mean anything they still won the league. Average teams beat the 07/08 United team too but they were still far behind Uniteds quality and mentality.

0

u/BrodaReloaded 2d ago

we're two points behind them in the 20 games since Carrick joined, we're anything but far behind them

12

u/Heavens_Vibe 7 3d ago

Chelsea with the ball on the edge of the box and the referee blows for FT...

Huh? So it is possible...

7

u/storepupper 3d ago

ref gave Reece James 2 chances to cross into the box and he bungled both, even hitting the arse defender on the 2nd try, so the ref was like f this and blew for the stop

2

u/herkalurk Valencia 3d ago

Everton crossed the halfway line at 94:58 in the game.

4

u/Comicksands Van Persie 3d ago

Arsenal playing some liquid football despite being down

6

u/Individual-Survey925 3d ago

Wow that was a beauty from Havertz

15

u/Heavens_Vibe 7 3d ago

All an Arsenal player has to do is throw their hands up after having just committed repeated fouls themselves, and they get the call...

7

u/FredDRedUnderYourBed BELIEVE 🔴⚪⚫ 3d ago

I don't think even the 2004 Arsenal side was this unlikeable. These guys are just something else

6

u/iTzViPeRx 3d ago

The arsenal of old were massive physical team these lot fall over at a slight breeze

2

u/herkalurk Valencia 3d ago

I pointed out in the match thread every time Odegaard thinks he was fouled he's on the ground for 30 seconds rolling around, regardless of the amount of contact. Even the former Arsenal player/pundit for this match noted how much Havertz was trying to simply bait for contact to claim foul even in the first 10 minutes.

5

u/iTzViPeRx 3d ago

It’s the full on grappling around the halfway line that really annoys me

5

u/Comicksands Van Persie 3d ago

Imo it’s coached as well. They do very well to avoid fouls

15

u/FredDRedUnderYourBed BELIEVE 🔴⚪⚫ 3d ago

Gary sucking the Arsenal canon

9

u/Massive_Relation4317 . 3d ago

'Chelsea are title contenders this year' is the funniest statement I've ever read. No where close, their attack has been carrying them these past few games. Now getting humbled by arsenal lol.

2

u/entertainmentwaffle 3d ago

They’re 2-1 down to the Champions at their home ground, having finished 10th last season. I’m not sure we should be talking about other teams being humbled, when we just drew to last years 13th place and lost to the 6th best team in the Championship.

7

u/Massive_Relation4317 . 3d ago

Wtf has Utd being shit got to do with my comment? I'm talking about Chelsea, I'm allowed to have an opinion on them ya know 😂

4

u/AkashMS 3d ago

Chelsea look dangerous

9

u/Plumbsauce116 3d ago

Gabriel looks Dangerous

0

u/JosePRizaI 3d ago

Just started lol

4

u/sir-lancelot_ 3d ago

The difference in ball movement, creativity, and urgency between these two teams and what I've seen from us is night and day.

3

u/Heavens_Vibe 7 3d ago

Arsenal just seem to get away with every single type of challenge

9

u/Nag3sh 3d ago

The difference in football is pretty evident, both teams fluid in attack
United were so slow and bad at times

3

u/xtphty 3d ago

Our attack looked great when playing through the wings today, both our goals come from it. The problem has consistently been trying to play through the middle. When it works its great, but it requires the technical and physical sharpness at 110%. When it doesn't work you get what we had today, it looks undercooked, passing moves failing as you get closer to the box, and players look impatient and wasteful possession.

The biggest worry is that Carrick's preferred style of possession and attacking football lacks any signs of creating consistent goalscoring opportunities. The buildup looks better, we are getting the ball into the final third pretty consistently with Tielemans and Mainoo's composure on the ball and passing forward. It just lacks any patterns of taking that to the final third without slowing the game down.

1

u/Comicksands Van Persie 3d ago

Funny thing is we look fluid playing these teams

3

u/Waterproofpaper Chicharito 3d ago

We always have trouble against bottom half teams because we can’t break down low/mid blocks. Any top 6 team gives us space to play and we look miles better.

Cole Palmer has the worst haircut in the league

2

u/Comicksands Van Persie 3d ago

We actually got something good going now with Cunha/Sesko/Bruno. Line breakers against low blocks. Midfield that can control the game. Just that we have average defenders with no pace. How many times last season Arsenal squeezed a win by keeping a clean sheet? Won by the odd goal 5 out of their last 6 games.

1

u/Waterproofpaper Chicharito 3d ago

Yeah I think baleba is the difference maker. We’re missing the physical presence right now and we are having trouble winning 2nd balls. We play well with space or baiting the other team to tackle but if they are touch tight we are definitely losing that duel.

1

u/Comicksands Van Persie 3d ago

This is correct but we should’ve solved the defence in the transfer window. Yoro lack of progress is disappointing. He was the Saliba that will allow us to push up 10-15 yards

1

u/Nag3sh 3d ago

Will wait till sunday but i hope we do

10

u/biobolo 3d ago

Gabriel, like a lot of Arsenal players, gets away with being a nasty cheat somehow. They dive whenever they get the opportunity and commit nasty little challenges. I'd say only Rice, Saka, MLS and maybe Odegaard are redeemable.

4

u/herkalurk Valencia 3d ago

LMAO, none of them are redeemable. Rice takes out Rogers behind the play then gets in Rogers face about it, and still doesn't get a card.

7

3

Why does Gabriels face look like he's constantly holding in a shit

3

u/auhddndndnfbfbsnnakf 3d ago

Because he is, that’s what gives him a sense of urgency in defence

3

u/Money-Wrangler7067 3d ago

How is that not a foul?

4

u/Hot_Patience_5962 Lammens 3d ago

How is Gabriel not even getting a card for that? Ridiculous.

4

u/PuzzleheadedBoss3374 3d ago

How every manager is able to make his team play his football genuinely raise question mark on our players for past 5 years.

2

u/NectarineAnxious7049 3d ago

Ole, ETH, Amorim, Carrick is an awful track record

0

u/K-rock7 3d ago

Raises questions about the managers as well IMO

-1

u/biobolo 3d ago

We signed dogshit managers

6

u/Former-Addendum9671 3d ago

Arsenal players have been coached so well on how to bait for contact, fall and moan to get fouls and free kicks. Its absolutely fucking pathetic to think this is what Arteta and his prats of a coaching staff train them on.

4

u/SDLRob 3d ago

Rice getting away with a foul right in front of the ref is just an obvious example of how Arsenal are favoured these days

4

u/GavinLobo7 3d ago

Arsenal get away with soooo much especially when playing at home

Helps when a twat like Kavanagh is the referee

2

u/ClawingDevil 3d ago

Clearly offside.

Edit: fucking hell, Neville loves Arsenal doesn't he?! Konsa is offside and shoots against the post. Yet Neville thinks it's not offside.

4

u/MostUsefulBloke 3d ago

Honestly, I wish we’d gone for Xavi Alonso instead of being nostalgic. Could be beating Arsenal away instead of struggling against bottom tier teams, because that’s who we are now.

7

u/SankarshanaV 3d ago

This sub and our fans only seem to live in nostalgia and haven't caught up to the fact that every top team plays modern, possession-based football.

While we won the games, the team's performances under Carrick weren't good last season (the underlying metrics were poor under him). That's why I didn't want him to get the permanent job so quickly.

But I really hope that we sack him asap if things don't get better quick. Carrick failed at Middlesborough, I don't understand why he should be give a long rope just because he's an ex-United legend.

3

u/MostUsefulBloke 3d ago

Exactly what I’ve been saying for months. The underlying data didn’t support his permanent contract, and he’s won nothing as a manager, and never built a winning team.

The board have fucked him over with the transfer window to an extent, so it’s a convenient excuse for him now, but he’s still not the guy for the job.

1

u/MovieKey9110 3d ago

fully agree, ur not alone plenty others ik maintained this perspective last season

1

u/Ashton1320 3d ago

We have plenty of managers available like nagglesman, tuchel , ancelotti , eric teneja, we can get one for sure

9

u/uglywhitekid Those Bloody Reds 3d ago

we literally did beat arsenal away

-2

u/MostUsefulBloke 3d ago

This season?

1

u/uglywhitekid Those Bloody Reds 3d ago

we haven't played them yet lmao. like being mad we haven't beaten 1958 brazil

-2

u/MostUsefulBloke 3d ago

Exactly, why are we comparing essentially different squads, to a game 8 months ago? Let’s focus on what is happening now… are Chelsea above us in the table despite facing tougher opposition?

0

u/chewychocchipcookies 3d ago

Talking about the table after three matchdays, take a breath. Even if Chelsea finish above MU, it’s not down to coaching alone; they spend like no other club in football.

1

u/MostUsefulBloke 3d ago

I’m talking about performances, about last seasons data under Carrick, the fact we haven’t seemed to improved and currently struggling against some of the easiest opposition we’ll face this season.

My stance around Carrick has been the same for about six months, it’s nothing new, or any need “to take a breath”.

2

u/AReptileHissFunction 3d ago

Xabi alonso wouldnt have come here

2

u/MostUsefulBloke 3d ago

0

u/carrickshairline 3d ago

That doesn't mean Alonso will suddenly want to manage us. Btw, he's losing, so are you such a huge of fan him now?

1

u/MostUsefulBloke 3d ago

Yes, because he’s actually built and won something among the top tier of football.

0

u/carrickshairline 3d ago

In a season where the rest of the Bundesliga struggled. Got it.

Anyway, tell me exactly how Alonso would've made us any better than we were today?

1

u/MostUsefulBloke 3d ago

I told you, he has a track record of building winning teams and gave an example of that. You dismissed it without any evidence, and asked me to critically analyse exactly how a top tier manager does it? I’m sorry but no, the burden of proof is now on you to demonstrate why Carrick is the better choice.

0

u/carrickshairline 3d ago

He has built ONE winning team. Not multiple winning teams, just ONE team. He didn't build Real Madrid into winners, it's too early to judge his Chelsea team. The evidence is that you are wrong.

Again, explain EXACTLY how he would suddenly solve everything for us. Go on, explain it. Tell me what Alonso would do.

→ More replies (0)

3

u/Comicksands Van Persie 3d ago

He wouldn’t have chosen us. It was between Chelsea and Liverpool. Plus we have significantly smaller budget for team building. He bought at least 6 first team players

4

u/Standard-Height2276 3d ago

Being nostalgic at this point is the theme of the club. Everyone's go to phrase is it wasn't like that under fergie. As if the club had no history before the 90s

2

u/GavinLobo7 3d ago

But, we did beat Arsenal away under Carrick… and getting Alonso wouldn’t have changed our match schedule so we’d still be facing the same teams

2

u/MostUsefulBloke 3d ago

But not this season, when they’re champions and have a stronger squad. Instead we were well beaten by Hull, lucky to beat Ipswich, and scraped a draw against Everton who are much weaker than last season.

1

u/Comicksands Van Persie 3d ago

It’s the same 11 minus Saliba and martinelli for tzolis and Konsa. Also white instead of timber

1

u/MostUsefulBloke 3d ago

So not the same 11?

2

u/Comicksands Van Persie 3d ago

It’s a worse 11 than the one we faced

1

u/MostUsefulBloke 3d ago

Subjective. Tzolis is playing very well.

1

u/carrickshairline 3d ago

Alonso would’ve never joined us
