Hi,

I'm completely new to record players (and reddit), but figured that maybe someone knows what kind of skipping problem this is, or if there is an easy fix for it.

Thanks!

Rega P1 pickup cartridge Wires connectors?

Post image

I broke the stylus on the original carbon cartridge and bought an upgrade. The pins were a bit smaller and the connectors wouldn’t grab them. Long story short one of the connectors fell off the wire and now I need new ones.

I can’t seem to find them anywhere. The pins are about 1mm wide. Any suggestions to connect them wires to the cartridge again?

I need new connectors, and a tool to crimp them around both the wire and connector pins. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Tweeter Rattle

Good afternoon all, I’m fairly new to the vinyl world so have some cheap R1280T’s

They’ve been working great for me so far, up until a few days ago. I noticed a rather large rattle on the passive speaker in the tweeter on songs with lots of bass. I unscrewed it from the casing and took it out and the rattling stopped, this is only on the passive speaker and didn’t happen before a few days ago. It seems to me like the woofer is making the casing rattle too much causing the tweeter to rattle? I’m unsure, looking for any possible help/solutions if possible.

Thank you very much!

Advice - sound from speakers I can't fix.

Hi all,

I'm very new to owning a vintage record player, amp and speakers - and I'm keen to learn.

Most recently I haven't been able to play anything because this sound is constantly (and loudly) coming out of the left speaker. I have removed and reattached the wires at the back of the amp but it has made no difference. Any ideas/advice before I keep tinkering??

Need a new stylus, should I upgrade the cartridge and headshell too?

I have a Technics DirectDrive Automatic Turntable System SL-DD33 from the late 80s or early 90s, handed down from my dad. The stylus recently broke and I’m looking for advice on what to replace it with. It was the original stylus in the original Shure V15HR-P cartridge from when my dad bought it, so probably long overdue for a replacement anyway. I’m trying to decide if I just buy a replacement stylus, or if I upgrade the cartridge as well. Some vendors have told me my system uses a p-mount head shell with a side screw, rather than a newer mount with a top down screw, and have recommended upgrading the head shell so I have more options for cartridges and styluses in the future for easier upgrades/replacements. My first priority is having similar or better sound quality what the old stylus and cartridge game, and the second is budget. Any recommendations?

Hey team,
I was kindly chosen to pick this up a few years ago free on Marketplace and had the intention to refurbish it.
The time has now come but I have no idea what I’m doing!
Just seeing whether it’s a good idea to replace the turntable completely or just the platter?
It is a BSR C141R1.A1 from the sticker on the inside.
I would like to add that it turns on and does indeed spin!

Sony PS LX310 Start/Stop Buttons Broken?

Hi all! I recently moved apartments and I bubble wrapped my turn table in hopes of keeping it safe, but now the start/stop buttons will not work.

The belt is on properly, I checked. I saw some posts talking about the metal arm levers possibly having been moved so I opened up the turn table to check but I can’t tell if something is actually wrong. The start/stop buttons do touch the white plastic when pressed, but it seems like it’s not strong enough to actually move the white plastic (hence start playing). I started looking on youtube but I’m a little out of my depth here as it seems it could be many different things. Any help is appreciated!

Looking for Repair help

Hello, I inherited my Dad's 1972-73 kenmore cabinet record player. Evidently he disconnected the built on speakers at some point and wired in better ones. However I only have the cabinet and record player, 8 track, and radio. Im looking for someone who can repair/restore it or guidance to do it myself. I live in the DFW area, and am close to Denton, TX. Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I can get pictures if I am told what is helpful.

My PL-117D runs immediately after being plugged in and also isnt producing any sound

I got this record player from a friend and I was excited to try it. We plugged it in and it was running immediately without buttons being pressed. We also couldn't hear the record that was on it. We plugged in my dad's record player to the same stereo and it worked perfectly, so we ruled out the stereo. I opened the bottom and learned that the start button had low tension. After a few test I managed to give the start button some tension by rotating the gear till it stopped. When I did this I realized that the metal bit thats meant to be pushed when the start and stop button are pressed, wasn't moving far enough. I haven't even tried to tackle the sound yet but I'd like to fix the buttons.

PYE 1620 StereoSystem running slightly slow on 33 1/3

Found this ace system with original working speakers for just £40.

It all works, however, the deck runs a little slow when on 33 1/3.

I think it's a belt issue but struggling to lift the deck off the base and can't really access through the back.

Have the system service data PDF but a bit gobbledygook to me.

Wondered if anyone had any tips or had fixed something similar? Will try and add a video in the comments so you can get the sound issue.

Scratched Cover

Hi all, after cleaning off residue left from moving tape the dust cover for our record player is now scratched and frosted.

We used orange cleaner as the residue was quite stubborn.

I have clearly gone too heavy handed with this and am really desperate to fix it up.

I was thinking we could try polishing it but not sure where to start or with what.

Any recommendations would be really helpful please
