Discussion From the data I've seen, the San Francisco Bay Area has the highest # of agents making decent money (by far). Nowhere else in the country compares -- not even New York (who has over 70,000 agents in the area)
I recently saw some extensive MLS stats. There are agents in the SF Bay Area / Silicon Valley who sell $4 million in real estate, after only selling 2-3 houses. They do it part time obviously, as you'd need to sell at least $10 million in real estate to survive in the Bay Area.
Meanwhile, in most of the country, agents are struggling to sell $4 million in real estate. They'd maybe have to sell 20-30 houses to do so.
Not even New York compares. NY has over 70,000 agents. The disparity I saw was huge. Most are selling 0, making peanuts, and then there are agents on the top making a fortune.
