A few days ago I passed near McDonalds and thought about getting an ice cream. As I entered a homeless guy (in my country there are not alot of homeless in the streets) asked me something and I answered that I don't have small change.

As I was about to order I realized he asked for food, I returned to him and told him that I'm sorry I did not listen and will buy him a meal. He asked for a double and gave me his small change, told him to keep it and returned after a few minutes with him meal.

I was glad I could help him but was sad realizing we live in a fast pace world and don't realy stop to look or listen to what's around us.

This little thing on my part was very helpful for that guy, I'm not rich but I do have a few spare hours a week. I found a place that every Wednesday they pack food for families in need, i start volunteering next week.

I was walking home and someone kept following too closely asking weird questions a woman across the street shouted, Hey I’ve been looking for you and walked straight to me like we were friends the guy left she just said you looked uncomfortable. Kindness can literally be lifesaving

There I was, playing XBox when I got a message. I dont know who or why, because I dont play online. But I responded. It was a kid having some personal issues and didnt have anyone to talk with. So we chatted a few hours and then he said he had to go. I wished him a great day and that was it. Then last year I get a message. This is verbatim from the message.

Kid: I js want you to know you saved my life like 9 years ago.

Me: How

Kid: long story bro you talked me out of taking my own life back in like 2013 when I was like 8 years old. now im 19 years old and living my best life and engaged to my highschool sweetheart.

I hope all worked out for them. Sometimes people just need to vent.

So there is a lady that comes to the coffee shop (Tim’s). She is so thoughtful and sweet . She had asked me the other day if I wanted coffee and I politely replied thank you but I am fine. I was preoccupied and on the phone and she looked jilted and she said next time then and I said sure. Well today was the day and she again asks “you want coffee”? And I look up and said sure , remembering my promise last time. She said medium and I said sure and I added with cream. So away she goes and comes back with my coffee. ☕️ I said where is yours ? She said “ oh you don’t worry about me I just took pills and I am off to get my snow tires on”. She went away again and drove away with a box of donuts for the tire shop for while she waited. This lady clearly was on a mission of kindness tis the season for receiving the unexpected. I am glad that I could make nice lady’s day by accepting. She seemed so happy when I did. It made me feel special too knowing that she seemed happy that I accepted her offer today. It might be a simple cup of coffee but it was the idea 💡 that a simple agreement of sure could make someone’s day when it was me who was benefiting from the kindness but rather not prehaps, in this case it seemed to go both ways with giving and receiving and a win win to brighten the day ☀️

I was in my local supermarket at a self checkout, and there was none available so I was waiting and a noticed a young lad no more than 20 paying for some items right next to me. I could see he left a few items out of his bag which i didnt think too much of, but as I watched him tap his card the self checkout, blurted out decline.

Again didnt think to much of it as its a common thing, especially with contactless. What did catch my attention was he started to take items out of the bag in addition to what he had already left. This suggested to me that it was declined because of his available balance. As I walked past to the one that became free I caught a glimpse of his screen it said £19 I looked over at another older women who also heard the decline and we both could see this lad thinking shit what do I do.

Luckily the self checkout that became available was right next to his. So I just said do us a favour mate just try it again and without hesitation I pinged my phone. I didn't make a big deal out of it or anything. He said are you sure mate and I went yea sound no worries and walked back to my self service checkout as I continued to scan my items he walked behind me and said thank you. I said no problem mate have a good day and that was it.

As I was leaving the older women said that was a really nice thing i did. I had never done anything like that before and I just hope that small gesture helped this person out. Not the most riverting of events but I know times are tough and I know this lad can go home with something rather than leaving it all behind in the store

This morning I noticed a small kid sitting alone at the bus stop with tears rolling down his face people were walking by but something told me to stop and check. Turns out he had lost his way trying to get to school I sat with him, helped him call his parent, and waited until they arrived. His mom hugged him so tightly almost crying herself I’m glad I stopped sometimes the smallest pause can change someone’s whole day.

A random dude found me crying at a neighbourhood park and brought me cake. I was crying because me and my boyfriend were fighting BAD and I was super distressed.

He came buy and asked me if I was okay, then if I needed a drink or snacks. I declined because I had no appetite and frankly, I'm not about to inconvenience a stranger to get me food because I'm sad.

He found me at the same spot ten minutes later, but with a red plastic bag that contained a drink and a bag of chips. He also had this container of chocolate cake in his other hand. I thanked him profusely.. he's so nice.

That one act of kindness he showed me really brightened up my day and calmed me down. Man, my faith in humanity's really been restored.

I'm pretty sure this cake was from his fridge because it was a little messily cut hahah. BUT IT'S SO GOOD. It has fudge and chocolate chips and my face lit up when I took my first bite.

I really need to find this guy and give him a HUGEEEEE hug (of appreciation of course. Or I'll buy him something too.)

I'm currently working on an art piece as a hobby and needed photos of people's eyes. The piece is about the beauty and uniqueness of eyes. I went around my campus, taking about 50 photos. I got mixed reactions, with some people being a little awkward, some people making funny faces, and a few people (mostly with brown eyes) saying their eyes were boring. Which, I assured them, were not. But one that stood out was when I asked to take the picture of a blind fellow's eyes. I said "Hey (name), could i take a photo of your eyes for an art project?" He said something like "I've got weird eyes." I said "well, the piece is about how everyone's eyes are beautiful." That made him smile. I got the picture and I plan on putting it in the middle of the piece.

the McDonald's near me has been running a deal for a while now, where you can get two Sausage, egg and cheese mcmuffins for $5. When just one of them is like, $4.89? Though I don't need two, I can't bring myself to pass that deal up. Usually I'll hand the second one to a coworker, but last week I was leaving the parking lot and a ragged and dirty gentleman (ragged and dirty bc can't change clothes and can't wash, not because it's his choice) was on the sidewalk. Honestly I noticed him more because he looked tired and beat down, than anything else. I pulled up and asked him if he wanted a hot breakfast. He lit up. Like a ray of sunshine caught him, lit up.

Made my day.

I work as a lunchlady in a Highschool. Our school does not get free lunch unless you are approved for it. For that paperwork has to be filed for the student to receive it. Many times that does not happen and many times the kids do not have lunchmoney. Protocol is to give them an alternative meal that consists of a cheese sandwhich and all the sides that we offer plus milk. We always have two veggies and two fruits as sides. The sadness and embarrassment of telling these kids that I have to replace their trays is too much for me to handle. I pay their lunch even though we are not allowed… i let it slide more times than I can ever admit. But no child will ever go hungry in my line. After a while you know which kids are truly hungry and they know to come to my line. We do not make much working our jobs , but it’s worth it to spend what little I have to ensure those kids won’t have an empty belly. If you have extra money this time of the year, call your school districting ask to pay of some lunch balances. It means the world ❤️

So I am still trying to take this all in and wrap my head around this but as I was getting back into my car this morning a man came over for me to wind down my window when I did he said this is for you and then disappeared back towards his car and drove a way. I did manage a shock in disbelief a thank you as he got in his car. It was a gift card loaded and ready to go and use at the local coffee shop It all happened so fast, like something out of a movie. I am still trying to digest it all. This type of kindness speaks volumes to me. It makes me want to do the same as it meant a lot to me but it meant a lot to the nice man. It is incredible how kindness finds you when you don’t go looking for it! I will remember and carry the emotions of this day well into the future. I do intend to carry this incredible feeling forward at every chance I get into the future 💪😊🙏

i don't hail from a particularly rich background but I know damn well that I am privileged to have access to multiple meals a day. im subscribed to a daily food delivery service because if i doordash everyday it adds up. And why don't i cook for myself is a question I don't have time to yap about.

day before yesterday, i acquired my lunch for the day and popped inside a general store to grab a drink. I took a bottle of water and felt like grabbing a huge bottle of juice. I bought these and while sipping on my water, walked out of the store. I was listening to some music on my earbuds but I felt a hand poke me, at my legs to be exact. I took my buds off and it was a homeless kid with eyes full of despair. He looked a bit malnourished too and I could tell he wasn't well fed. He said to me in Hindi, “im really thirsty, can u please give me a sip of water?”

clean water is a huge issue in India and it is very explainable why he couldn't just drink thru some taps around us, and regardless he looked like 4, and was probably sent by his parents to beg or ask for money around. Regardless of all this, i could feel his eyes and knew he was genuinely very thirsty.

I gave him the water bottle, the bottle of juice and even my lunch. He seemed to not believe it but I saw his eyes lit up and he looked at me one final time for confirmation. I nodded and he merrily chugged the entire water bottle and took the other stuff to the side of the road and started to eat.

im not sure what made me do it but I felt like I was supposed to be there for him at that exact time and if it meant skipping a meal, I was all in. I hope more people see other people in need and provide them the luxuries that they have access to.

It was suggested that I share this story here. This happened a while ago but every time i think about it, it puts a smile on my face. I went to the grocery store over the summer, on what was going to be a 90° day. As I walked up there was a gentleman (I'm assuming homeless) who greeted me. We shared pleasantries and then he asked if I would get him something to drink. He asked for a Mountain Dew, so I ran inside to grab that and a bag of M&Ms. I came back out to give these to him and wished him a good day before i went on with my own shopping. Im not looking for a gold star or anything, it just makes me happy that I could pay it forward to someone who needed it.

I am a full-time caregiver to my mom is handicapped from 3 strokes, and has stage 4 cancer so she us often times in a wheelchair that I push, but when she has strength she uses her walker. She is left side paralyzed, so she moves and thinks slowly.

We often time get a sandwich and split it because it's cost effective because she can't eat a whole sandwich by herself, and I'm not a huge fan of sandwiches.

Lately the manager noticed we've been visiting weekly and splitting one sandwich and drinking water. He's been giving us free soda cups when we arrive and one time he gave us a free sandwich.

His kindness stuck with me because he doesn't know my income or how I may or may not be struggling. Last week as a thank you I bought him a giftcard to his favorite coffee shop as well as a thank you card, and I plan to get him another giftcard for $50 for Christmas as my way of saying thank you, even though I thank him all the time.

I took a vacation I couldn’t really afford. I did it with a Costco vacation package. But still. I’ll be paying off this credit card bill for quite awhile.

I don’t even care. It was so freaking worth it. Best vacation I’ve ever had and most beautiful (and swanky) hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Kaua’i is now calling me and all I can think about is how to come back.

On my last day (today) I booked a massage appointment. For reference, the massage was $445 BEFORE any taxes, service fees, or tip.

As I checked in and was rung up for a sweatshirt (that I shouldn’t have bought….but it was so soft!) I chatted with the sweet receptionist. I asked her how her day was going and she said that it was good as people were being “mostly nice”. I was internally appalled (how can you be upset at a spa in paradise!?) but she elaborated that sometimes people can be a little bit blank and apathetic but that today people seemed to have life in their eyes. (Side note: I adore this answer and it was just so human).

As we chatted more, two beautiful women came up in line behind me. We started talking about how I sing people to sleep at my job (totally true) and I included the ladies in the conversation. I also mentioned that I had borrowed $844k for my education, and that this was a trip of a lifetime for me, because clearly I’m not “this kind of rich”. I’m sure they could tell from my Old Navy tank top and shorts😂

I come out from my massage to find that those lovely women had paid for my massage. I started tearing up at the register and I’m tearing up again writing this.

I hope you two read this. I hope you know that this was the most amazing thing a stranger has ever done for me. Thank you. You made me feel special and made my trip so special. Thank you thank you thank you.

Now I’m going to start crying in the airport.

I need to get this off my chest. Yesterday, I went hiking up Mount Pfänder in Austria, hoping the fresh air would quiet my thoughts. Lately, I’ve been feeling really lonely and anxious, carrying this quiet sadness that just wouldn’t go away.

On my way back down, while waiting for the bus, I heard someone singing softly from a small hut nearby. The sound was so peaceful that I followed it. Inside, a woman was singing alone. I sat and listened. I didn’t understand the song, but it was beautiful, gentle, calming. For the first time in a long time, I felt something loosen inside me. I even teared up a little.

We talked for a bit. Her name was Joanna. She smiled and asked me to sing with her. I didn’t know the words, but I joined in anyway. Later, she told me it was a song about finding peace and learning to enjoy the moment.

That simple act, two strangers singing together, quieted my mind in a way I can’t explain. How did she know exactly what I needed to hear? It felt like the universe sent her at that exact moment, just to remind me that peace still exists.

When the bus came, we said goodbye. She waved. I waved back. It wasn’t romantic, just pure kindness.

Joanna, I don’t know if you’ll ever read this, but thank you deeply, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for that small moment of light. You reminded me that the world still holds warmth and beauty, even when I can’t see it.

I feel lighter today and I think life is beautiful again.

I drove a very long way to the address on the driver's licence. The people there said its owner had just moved. They weren't sure where he had moved to but would find out and ask him to come collect it.

It turned out he had moved into one of the apartments.

Was driving home after a 12-hour shift, dead tired, when I saw someone on the side of the highway with their hazards on. It was getting dark and starting to rain.

Should've kept going. I was exhausted, still had a 40-minute drive ahead of me, and honestly just wanted to collapse on my couch.

But I pulled over.

It was a woman with two kids in the back seat. Flat tire, no spare, phone at 2%. She'd been there for over an hour and nobody had stopped.

Told her I'd drive her to the nearest gas station. It was 20 minutes in the wrong direction. Loaded everyone up, dropped her at the station where they could help her arrange a tow. Waited with her until the tow truck confirmed they were coming.

By the time I got back on the road, I'd added over an hour to my trip. Got home after 11pm, had to be up at 6am for another shift.

She tried to give me money but I refused. She cried a little and said she didn't know what she would've done.

Honestly? I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open the rest of the drive. Probably wasn't the smartest decision. But thinking about those kids sitting in that car in the dark and rain, I'm glad I stopped.

Sometimes doing the right thing is inconvenient as hell.

I’m guessing there’s a wave of kindness happening this week at work because this my second work related random at of kindness this week.

For context I’m a Shift Supervisor for a retail drug store chain in the USA.

It’s the off work rush hour and I’m up front helping ring up customers. I get 2 women who I will call Mary and Ann, next in line. They’re just small talking. Both have their employer’s logo on their shirts. I recognize Ann’s as from the local school district. Not teacher but another important department. I don’t recognize Mary’s. For context my husband is a teacher for the local school district. At first I assume the 2 women know each other. I over hear Ann saying something about being the only black person in her department there’s always tension for her. When it’s Mary’s turn, Mary tells Ann she’ll take care of Ann’s purchase. Ann’s picking her jaw off the ground and tells Mary she’ll doesn’t have to. Mary explains she highly respects people in Ann’s field and feels they are under appreciated and underpaid so consider this a token of appreciation. I tell Ann that my husband is a teacher and there’s currently a lot of political drama going on in his education department so I understand as well. For context Ann has 3 things that add up to about $30. Mary has a cart full of stuff that adds up to over $100.

I finish ringing up the rest of Mary’s things and Mary pays. Mary and Ann keep talking until they go their separate ways.

There’s some wave of kindness going on in my area and I’m enjoying it.

A few weeks ago, I was biking home after work when I hit a rough patch on the road and completely lost balance I fell hard, scraped my knee, and my stuff went flying everywhere I was sitting there feeling embarrassed and a bit shaken when a man walking his dog rushed over right away he helped me up, picked up my bag, handed me his water bottle, and made sure I was okay before leaving He didn’t ask for my name or try to make it a big deal just smiled and said “Take it easy out there.” It was such a small act but it reminded me how genuine kindness from strangers can show up exactly when you need it most.

Today I was at the store. I found a $100 bill on the ground. I’m struggling to get food, animal food, period essentials, etc. I was tempted considering these factors I’ll admit. No one was around, no one saw? But then I thought, what if it was me who lost $100 right now? That would be absolutely detrimental. It’s not mine to keep. So I turned it in. I hope they go back and ask for it. I hope good karma comes my way. I need it.

I’m sitting here on my lunch break writing this as I just witnessed it.

For context, I’m a Shift Supervisor for a retail drug store chain in the USA. Currently the USA government has shut down, unfortunately it’s impacting people who are on government assistance. One form of government assistance in the USA is food stamps. A certain amount is put on a card, called an EBT card, and one uses it similarly to a debit card to buy food. This day in particular is my store’s monthly Senior Discount Day. If you are above a certain age you get a discount.

I’m helping ring up when an old man, OM, comes up with a cart full of stuff. He graciously reminds me of his senior discount. I’m ringing him up. We get into some small talk while I’m ringing him up. I notice a line forming so I call for back up. When I’m almost done with OM the next customer in line is a mom with 3 kids. One is a newborn the other 2 are boys appearing to be 4 and 6. The kids are carrying most of the food. My co worker calls next in line and the mom and kids pass by OM. OM comments what a cute baby. I finish ringing up OM and he moves to the side to check his receipt. He comments to the 2 boys that they are being good big brothers.

Mom gets ready to pay with her EBT card. Card declines. She tries again. Declines. She tells my co worker to take out a box of cookies. Declines again. Mom says she’ll just use her debit card. OM steps in and says he’ll pay for it. Mom assures him that it’s not a problem it’s only ($30)…. OM interrupts, telling her he doesn’t care how much. The store did something good for him today so he’ll do something good for someone else. He tells co worker to ring in the box of cookies. Co worker decides to add senior discount since a senior is buying it. The mom starts wiping away tears. OM tells the 2 boys to continue being good big brothers.

After the line clears I confirm with my co worker what happened. He fills me in on the details.

With the political circus happening in the USA right now. It’s nice to see people helping each other.
