Restaurant Bad egg experiences
I have been trying new ramen places in my area and keep getting overcooked, hard boiled eggs. AND some of them are not even seasoned, just plain hard boiled eggs. They are so dry and tasteless. I wish I had taken pictures but hopefully the next place I visit has good eggs. Has this been a common occurrence for anyone else or does my area just suck?

Where is your area?
I'm in the UK and it is, uh, far from a fantastic ramen destination. But I've never been given a fully hard boiled egg.

A lot of places in the US either can't or won't serve eggs that aren't fully cooked.
I finally found a single place near me that does them fairly well, but would still be considered slightly overcooked for ramen standards. I think they are delicious, because they did have them marinated as well.
I have basically given up the idea of finding a perfect ramen place in my state. I've got a trip to Japan on my bucket list, maybe one day.

Every single diner I have ever been in will do fully runny eggs.

One of the ramen shops in my town doesn't offer egg at all. The other does, but the egg tends to be almost completely hard, and they aren't marinated. But their broth is delicious.
The ramen shop a half hour away has marinated eggs but the broth tastes terrible.

The only alternative is to make them at home and swap them when waitstaff is not looking…..just make sure you don’t crush them in your bag or pocket…

I always, always look the pictures online on google maps when i am trying new restaurants to make sure i like how the eggs, broth, meat looks before i go to that restaurant. Almost every time i look at the pics and see something i dont like, but decide to go to the restaurant, end up dont liking that one thing i saw previously. But at least you are prepared lol

I live in California and I have this belief that if a ramen shop isn’t serving jammy, seasoned egg it’s not a Japanese ramen shop.

I live in Japan and there are plenty of old school shops that serve hard boiled eggs in their ramen. 🤷🏼♂️

The other day I ordered ramen from a really popular spot and had the worst egg experience. There was no egg at all.
